Maisie lowers her back and growls at Tom, her protective instinct hiking up.
Maisie's wolf is mostly golden brown, but she has splashes of red colour on her fur. Her head, her ear, and her neck have a little bit of red on them—just like her hair colour.
Aww. She is a beauty in her wolf form too.
"We met again, Lyra. Oliver, Rob, Amanda, Donna, Tracy, and I – all of us were worried about you, dear! I'm so glad to see you are doing well," Tom starts to speak.
If I didn't know better, I would think he was genuinely worried about me. But I will have to pay along; I can't let him know anything.
"It is good to see you too, Tom." I keep it short and simple.
Since I don't know his intention, it is better to not let my guard down.
"No need to tense up, little thing; I'm just here to chat with an old friend." Tom addresses Maisie and spares me a glance at his last word.
Old friend, my foot!
Maisie, however, doesn't buy his explanation, and rightfully so.
