As the City began to ascend, and everyone watched in horror, Ultron slowly floated upwards while mocking them.
„Do you see? The beauty of it, the inevitability. You rise, only to fall. You, Avengers, you are my meteor, my swift and terrible sword, and the earth will crack with the weight of your failure. And in the end, your struggle means nothing, as when the dust settles, the only thing living in this world will be… metal."
Friday's voice could be heard in everyone's earpiece, "Ordis intell was correct, the Vibranium core has got a magnetic field, that's what's keeping the rock together."
"If it drops?" Tony asked while scanning over the data himself. "Right now, the impact would kill thousands. Once it gets high enough: Global extinction."
"Before we worry about that, we have to end this bastard, and can someone please explain why everything looks so strange?" Steve commanded over the comms while looking at Tenno and analyzing what appeared to be cracks in the sky.
"This is my Domain," Tenno lied through his teeth, "I call it the Mirror Dimension, you can't affect the real world in here, so we can go all out without harming civilians or worrying about reconstruction."
Everyone looked at him in shock, including Ultron, who in turn began to analyze his surroundings through the thousands of drones that were brought here with him, checking for any lifeform around he could interact with.
"Sadly he got to activate the Core before the spell was active, else it would have never worked because everything happening in the Mirror Dimension, stays in the Mirror Dimension, but I didn't know if I could really pull it of" Thor looked at him in acknowledgment, as he spun his hammer around and gathered electricity, before flying of into a group of drones, an enormous explosions mixed with lightning strikes following the impact, having clearly held back his full strength till now for the civilians sake.
The only one who didn't seem to understand the explanation was the now-transformed, big and green Dr. Banner, so Natasha turned to him. "Hulk," she said, his head snapping to her as a grin formed on her lips, a single word leaving them: "Smash."
He grinned back at her, after which he jumped at Ultron directly, smacking him square in the face. He was seemingly distracted enough by the situation at hand that he got hit, then catapulted through a wall and out of view, Hulk following him through another.
Steve looked around in alarm as the drones watched their Main body fly away, then simultaneously turned their heads toward them.
"Incoming." He yelled as he got ready for battle, noticing movement in the ranks.
"Stark, you worry about bringing the city back down safely. The rest of us have one job: tear these things apart. You get hurt, hurt 'em back. You get killed, walk it off." He finished his little speech as the first drone came into his reach, caving in its head.
Tenno vanished into Rhino, activating his Charge, and once inside the massive gathering of drones, he first roared and then stomped, making them float around him. He then activated his Iron Skin and let it explode into shrapnel, clearing out a large chunk of the flood of drones rushing in from all sides.
The gathered Avengers, all spread about the place, taking cover, looked down on themselves and saw some kind of energy current pass over them, boosting their strength, which they all happily accepted.
Pietro got a slight boost to his speed, Wanda's hexes were less energy draining, Steve's punches were harder, and Barton's shots were faster.
Far away, Thor suddenly ascended into the sky. Many clouds began to form, and more lightning than usual struck his hammer, which he then gathered and punched into the ground, creating an EMP that took out most of the drones in his Vicinity.
After a bit of fighting and a lot of relocation, a bunch of Drones grouped themselves and singled out Barton and Wanda, who, in turn, got overwhelmed by their sheer firepower, leading to them retreating into a nearby building.
"Go, go, move!" Barton jelled at her as he took her by the waist, jumping with her through a Window, narrowly dodging one of the drones that tried a self-destruct maneuver.
Barton quickly looked at the window, watching their backs, as he heard Wanda Wimper something from behind him.
"How could I let this happen?" She murmured, holding her head as she broke down.
"Hey, hey, you okay?" He tried to distract her, but she didn't respond, only spiraling further.
"This is all our fault." She went on as Barton took her by her shoulder and pushed her up, showing her face.
"Hey, look at me. It's your fault, it's everyone's fault, who cares? Are you up for this?" He asked himself, agitated and clearly overwhelmed by the current situation.
"Are you? Look, I just need to know, cause the city is flying. Okay, look, the city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots, in a Mirror Dimension, and I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes sense." He continued, as suddenly some projectiles flew through the wall next to them, creating holes, which he then proceeded to use as Loopholes to shoot his arrows through.
"But I'm going back out there because it's my job. Okay?" He proceeded, looking down at the clearly scarred beyond her wits Wanda.
"And I can't do my job and babysit. It doesn't matter what you did, or what you were. If you go out there, you fight, and you fight to kill. Stay in here. You're good. I'll send your brother to find you. But I know that you won't do that, as the new guy seems to have quite a high opinion of you, and he, I must say, is really capable. So if you step out that door, you are an Avenger."
After his little speech, Barton looked at Wanda expectantly, but she, in turn, just gazed at him, completely flabbergasted.
"Alright, good chat." He finally came to an end, as he got up and was ready to leave, taking some extendable arrows from his leg and reloading. "Yeah, the city is flying." He stated, kicking the door in backward and leaving the room while shooting at the drones outside.
After clearing the area, he moved into the middle of the street and began sniping the drones.
Dodging a blast, he threw himself to the ground, hitting one of the drones while midair with an explosive arrow, taking down three more, before landing hard on the ground and taking cover behind a car.
"Ahh," he protested, annoyed, holding the shoulder he landed on, gathering his thoughts before scouting over the car's hood. There, he could see at least six drones gathering, preparing to fire.
But then, a door opened up, and Wanda stepped out of it, eyes already glowing red. She threw a ball of chaos energy against one of the drones, forcing it to fire at one of its own, before splitting it in two, using the scraps to take down even more drones.
Hearing the commotion, Barton stepped out of his cover, shooting two arrows at once, and taking down two drones that were charging up their weapons from Wanda's dead angle.
Wanda then gathered a bit more of her energy into one single attack, firing it at a Drone in the middle of a crowd, taking down all of them at the same time.
Barton looks at her approvingly, receiving a nod, before touching his ear to use his intercom.
"Alright, we're all clear here." He stated.
"We are not clear! We are very not clear!" Came the angry response from Cap, clearing out wave after wave of robots.
"Alright, coming to you." Barton said, ready to take off as Pietro suddenly appeared next to them, took Wanda, and sped off while saying, "Keep up, old man!" dashing away.
Barton angrily glared after him and aimed at his path. "Nobody would know. Nobody." He started to reason with himself as he began to jog towards his next position, resheathing his arrow, "The last I saw him? When Ultron was sitting on him. Uh...yeah, he'll be missed, that quick little bastard. I miss him already."
Meanwhile, Ultron was getting manhandled by Hulk. Every time he tried to dodge or go intangible, it didn't work, and he still got hit. The Hulk, though, whenever he got hit, only seemed to grow angrier, with no permanent harm in sight.
"What is happening to me?" Ultron jelled in frustration as he tried to ascend, but even that wasn't possible any longer, as he suddenly lost the ability to fly and fell directly into Hulk's clutches.
He took Ultron by the leg and pulled him from the air, continually smashing him into the ground from one side to another.
After a while of smashing, he pulled him upwards by the leg, looking at his face to see if he was still functional. And Ultron was.
He directly fired an energy beam from his forehead into Hulk's eye, at least blinding or hurting him for a moment, which of the two Ultron didn't know, but let go of his leg, giving him the possibility to finally fly upwards.
"I think you had enough fun for now," Ultron said to Hulk, who was scratching his eye. He turned his face at him, the left one bloodshot as he let out an angry war cry and jumped at him.
Ultron smiled and let himself fall to the ground, Hulk passing over him, while flying past the City's edge, plummeting to the ground.
"Minds win a fight, not strength," Ultron happily said as he ascended again, only to be struck by mjölnir from behind, hurling him through a few blocks before losing momentum.
"I am Thor, son of Odin, and as long as there is life in my breast, I'm running out of things to say. Are you ready?"
Thor said, Ultron looking around in confusion, catching a glimpse of something silver from the edge of his eye, before he got hit square in the face with a concentrated laser beam.
Rhino put the sniper he got from Rocket on his back, as it vanished into its compartment.
It had a single shot, but it was truly effective. He proceeded to bullet-jump, gracefully landing right next to Ultron's body, again pressed down on the ground by Thor's Hammer.
"I really like that Hammer of yours," Rhino said, Thor, standing next to the still metal, watching it carefully.
The wound was already healing, a clean shot straight through the left eye. "I guess it will take some time for him to regenerate from that," Thor said joyfully, standing proud, while looking out for further enemies.
"You think that's enough for Mr. Jarvis to do his job?" Thor finally asked, Rhino staring at him in shock, before looking down again at the fully awake Ultron.
"So that's your plan, you somehow downloaded Jarvis into my head, good to know, now I know what to search for, I've killed him once already, twice might be the charm," He said, his left eye already healed enough to look somewhat human in appearance. As he seemingly turned inwards with his attention.
"Oh no," Thor said, realizing what he had done, as Tenno began to calculate before making a decision.
"Thor, I might know what to do, but you will have to protect me, his other selves will probably not like what I'm about to do," Tenno said as he suddenly appeared next to the still standing Rhino.
Thor looked at him in thought and then nodded, again on the lookout for more enemies. Ultron looked at Tenno in confusion, not understanding what was going on.
"What are you planning to do? You will only push the inevitable further down the road. You can't defeat me."
"I know, but he can," Tenno said as he tapped one finger on the stone embedded in Ultrons forehead. He then began to hover one hand above it and channel his Void energy around him, while recalling the first time he performed the transference procedure on an unwilling subject.
