"Seriously how are you doing this?" she asked as she tested each of the bars.
"I told you, magic. I'm not going to bother trying to convince you though, you either believe me or don't." I said with a shrug.
"Fine, let's say I buy it. Where would someone even learn something like this?" she asked trying to play it cool.
"You wouldn't. This place doesn't have it naturally, not in the way I do anyways. Still back to the matter at hand. Your thoughts on backing my friend?" I asked calmly.
"I'd need to check them out first." she said with a dissatisfied look.
"Easy enough, his name is David Martinez. You can probably get his number from Muamar Reyes. Otherwise you can try Viktor Vector, that older man might take some sweet talking to give it up though." I said calmly.
"Fine, i'll be keeping these for the wall and my time. If I like what I find your friend will be hearing from me soon enough. Now then, how would I go contacting you? Someone with your... talents would be extremely valuable for certain gigs." she said flipping things around.
I shook my head "I don't do that sort of thing. As you can see I am not exactly lacking in funds. Now then I best be off, i'm on vacation you see and it wouldn't do not to relax a bit." I said before elementalizing and shooting into the nearest outlet.
A quick electrical journey later and I pop out in David's place.
"I got you guys some stuff while I was out." I said with a grin as Jackie and David just stare at me mid bite into a "pizza".
"What kind of stuff?" David asked curiously as he put down his partially eaten slice.
"The kind that will make things a billion times easier on you both. You'll need to take out the trackers and file off the brand symbols but think you'll agree it's worthwhile." I said as I started taking guns, armor and robots out of my inventory.
"Neta Mano!? Did you tip a Militech convoy all by your lonesome or something?" Jackie said as he stared at the stuff in awe.
"Or something, I robbed the Militech armory in city center. Cleared it out entirely. Got enough top of the line chrome to let you overhaul your whole kit with the good stuff." I said with a grin.
"Fuck choom, you sure Militech isn't gonna come knocking? Corps gonna have to do something about this right?" David asked worriedly.
"Once you get rid of any bugs on the stuff it's clean and clear, five finger discount style." I said reassuringly.
David didn't waste any time getting to work on that at all. His experience putting stuff together came through as he skillfully pulled these things apart and pulled out any nasty surprises in them before putting them back together.-
While he did that Jackie was organizing the useful from the pointless, at least in his opinion. The bots were immediately put in the useful pile along most of the guns while the cyberware was more thoroughly sorted. There was nothing for it really as there was so much meant for support roles that for an active role individual they were worthless almost. At most Jackie set out a couple full sets for each role he found but the rest were set aside. I also had to admit that Militech were some paranoid people as nearly everything had a tracker in it.-
While this was going on I finally allowed my mind to wonder and felt that sense of nausea return as I couldn't help thinking about Faraday. Logically I knew that killing him was for the best but it still tore at me a bit. At some point I didn't realize that Jackie sat next to me.
"First kill eh nino?" he said softly.
"Yeah. I don't regret it but, well it's not that easy." I answered honestly.
"Gotta be a psycho for the first kill to not bother you. Mine had me tore up for three days afterwards. Helped the guy was trying to flatline me though." he said patting me on the shoulder.
We sat there in silence for a while after that while we just watched David at work like a machine stripping everything, cleaning it and then reassembling it. Even at his speed it took almost two hours to get it all cleared. Once he was done I casually waved my hand at the pile of trackers and reduced it to slag with a bolt of lightning. It was getting late by this point so I took out one of Snapes version of the energy steroid potion and a nutrition potion and downed them together while I started my tempering.-
Under the effects of the potions and my tempering my body rapidly grew denser and more defined as steam rose from me. When the steroid potion lost effect however I was hit with a wave of extreme fatigue just like Snape said would happen. Even as tired as I was though I had to admit that potion mixed with my tempering was a match made in heaven. The potion alone would be a great thing but adding my tempering to the mix easily felt like it tripled or quadrupled the effect.-
The nutrition potion settled my hunger thankfully so I was more than capable of crashing on David's couch even if it were rather uncomfortable. The next day I ended up getting dragged to Vik's clinic to get a check up by both David and Jackie. I insisted I was fine but they didn't want to take any chances given how important I was to the plan. I had to hold back a laugh when Vik scanned me and stared at the results like he couldn't understand what he was looking at.
