"Something the matter doc?" I asked with a chuckle.
"Quite a few things actually. Problem isn't that you are unhealthy but TOO healthy. Body density is nearly triple what it should be, immune system is ridiculously robust. And for some reason every scan I do says you've got enough juice in you to flatten this entire block. Be honest with me, you some sort of Biotechnica escaped experiment?" the older man asked seriously.
"Nope, that all sounds about right though. Still nice to know i'm healthy for certain even if I was pretty sure of it anyways." I said as I slid of the cracked chair.
"What's that density thing mean anyways? That he's heavier than normal?" Jackie asked curiously.
"Weights a factor but what it really means is his body can take a lot more abuse than any normal ganic. He's stronger too, enough so that he matches the output of low end chrome. It's a bit hard to believe frankly." Vik said with a tired sigh as he cleaned his glasses with his shirt.
Jackie and David were satisfied with that and we left after the man was paid for his time. I ended up moping about David's place for most of the rest of the day. It was about mid day when Rogue finally called David which was a bit slower than I expected but I could only wave it off as her being cautious. She tested the guy on what he could make and only after that actually threw up her first offer. I hissed at it as it was a seriously bad one for David, probably a test offer as well. She basically said that she'd comp a bigger place, fabricators and materials but wanted seventy percent of all profits and exclusivity.-
David showed some backbone and rejected the offer without a lick of hesitation. He then turned it around and made an offer of his own. She covered the new place and fabricators but the materials were bought with the profits and she got fifty percent of what's left until her initial investment was paid off then it dropped to thirty five. There was some back and forth over the call before they settled at her getting sixty to start and it dropped to forty five after her initial investment was paid off but she'd be covering security as well.-
It was still a rather big loss on David's part but the whole point was just to use Rogue until things advanced enough he didn't need her anymore. Maybe he wouldn't drop her entirely at that point as it's bad for business but renegotiation should definitely be on the table. We all ended up celebrating with some cake I brought from my world while David and Jackie drank a bit. I was offered some of the alcohol but turned it down because that stuff might as well be liquid cancer.-
David moved quick though and before the end of the day he had me a Braindance wreath and a french language guide chip. Braindance tech was one of the few things I had to admit that this world got right. The way it worked was someone implanted a recorder and went about their business. They could then straight up copy those memories in exacting detail and let others experience it almost as good as if they were the ones who had done it. This was accomplished with some sort of brainwave mapping and influencing thing. It was high end technology that had been dumbed down for the masses and in my opinion vastly underutilized.-
Most of the time it was used to experience sexual acts or even the darker parts of human experience such as death all without actually needing to take those actions personally.
In my case the tech was perfect for in person experiencing a fluent speaker of a language using it. With my [linguist] skill I could use this as a base to rapidly learn the language myself. If I had a neuroport I could just use a data shard on the language to literally download it to my brain. Unfortunately the tech would promptly stop working the moment I went back to Hogwarts or some other magically dense place. -
That was the whole reason I didn't want a cyberware optic to replace my nearly unfunctional eye. Personally I would have jumped on the chance if I could but I knew that tech fried in magically dense areas. Anyways for the final day of my stay in this world I used the wreath to experience a french person teaching the lesson to an english speaker. It was pretty obvious that the one who recorded the BD was doing it intentionally for money as they would write the english words and phrases before speaking them in french three times before moving on.-
I naturally soaked it all up like a sponge and was confident my next destination once I got back to my world would be a breeze to handle. I was specifically heading for Paris and then Austria. The first to actually enjoy my winter vacation a bit and the second to go chat with a certain old man. Paris was a popular tourist city for a reason and I happened to know that the magical community of France was located there as well.
