Chapter 227 - Chat with an immortal

I was halfway through my second meat lovers pizza when I lost patience.

"You can stop skulking about in the alley. I watched you arrive twenty minutes ago, you will not make a grand mysterious entrance." I said flatly.

A sigh came from the alley nearby as an unassuming silver haired man with glasses walked out.

"I suppose I shouldn't have expected to get the drop on a fellow mage, even one so young." he said calmly despite getting called out.

"I am not a mage in the same way you are at the moment. My magic is very different than yours. Vacating all the nearby civilians was a touch paranoid though I must say." I said taking another slice of pizza from the cardboard box and devouring it.

"I wouldn't risk possible collateral if this meeting soured." He said calmly as he sat across from me.

"Take a slice. Food makes awkward conversations easier." I said motioning at the open box.

He hummed before reaching forward and taking a slice. He bit into it and looked slightly surprised for a moment before swallowing.

"I wasn't aware the pizza here was so good. I will have to remember it." he said frankly.

"I knew it was, it's why I chose it. Their ingredients are all very good and the preparation is also excellent." I said easily.

"Nifty trick. Would be nice to have." he said diplomatically.

"It's just haki. I believe you have already been told what that is yes?" I asked calmly as I ate another slice.

"I have. It's difficult to believe all the same." he said as he finished his slice and took another.

"The multiverse can have that effect on people. You are not unique in that regard." I said with a shrug.

"So it's true then, that you are from an entirely different world." he more asked than stated.

"Yes. My world is not exactly unique in the grand scheme of things. It's a planet called Earth, one that has many different forms and configurations across the multiverse. My version is one where the magical side was split from the magicless one via a statute enforced across all wizarding governments. Necessary at the time, strained in my current time however." I explained calmly as I grabbed another slice and wandlessly closed and moved the box away to open the next under it.-

"I see. And Remnant?" he asked seriously.

"More unique. Not terribly special mind you but not a world with nearly as many variations, just more of the same in slight alterations usually." I said bluntly.

"So why the interest? If this world is not all that special why show so much interest in it?" he asked seriously.

I grinned "I am a merchant. A mover and collector of items, powers and curiosities from the multiverse over. Granted I only just began this mercantile empire of mine but the fact remains all the same. Remnant may not be terribly special but it does have it's things of value. To me personally aura and magic. To others? The technology, plants, aura, Grimm and yes even the Faunus though not as slaves. I don't trade in slaves." I said making a grand hands open gesture.

"And why not magic to others?" he asked with a sharp gaze.

"Because there is simply not enough to share. Everyone has aura in this world but magic? That is exclusively yours, Salems and the long deads. I can only at most claim two copies of it and theres a good chance yours is incomplete. Cost of sharing it as you have if I recall." I said honestly.

"And if we don't agree to hand it over?" he asked sharply.

"Your compliance is desired but not needed. While I would certainly prefer to trade you and Salem for your copies I am also fully prepared to take them by force if needed. Not that this would affect either of you at all. As I have said they would be copies, like images on a mirror plucked out into actual items." I said casually as I ate another slice.

"You'll find Salem less than easy to subdue." he said with a touch of amusement.

"Ah, so Qrow hasn't told you yet. I assumed he would have sent a message the moment I left but I suppose he's rather upset at you right now so him not is understandable." I said with a chuckle.

"What do you mean?" he asked with a frown.

"I am referring to the fact that as I am right now I could erase this entire city from the world. In terms of power I dwarf you and Salem combined. I could easily capture either of you. Keeping you captured would be a bit more difficult but merely doing it at all is enough." I explained casually.

"That's quite the boast." he said now a little more tense.

I lazily hold up a hand and clouds rapidly form overhead and rumble with lightning.

"I am not boasting." I say calmly.

He stared at the clouds that extended as far as the eye could see above the city and quickly ran the calculations of how much energy and power was up there.

He clearly didn't like the answer he came to.

"I understand. If you were to accept a trade, what exactly would you be offering?" he asked.
