Fury's mouth corner seemed to twitch—so subtly it was almost unnoticeable. He took a deep breath, clearly prepared for this, and pulled a small communicator from inside his coat. It had a simple design, but was packed with a strong sense of advanced tech.
"As long as you're willing to help us take down that leader and close the portal," Fury's single eye flashed with a sharp gleam, "S.H.I.E.L.D. can promise you this: for the next full year, every supermarket sale item you want potatoes, eggs, milk, soy sauce… everything you need—we'll supply it in unlimited quantities at the best prices available. Delivered straight to your door, by dedicated personnel."
Saitama's previously disinterested eyes changed instantly. He looked at Fury, then at the communicator. With almost no hesitation, he took it with his free hand.
"Alright." He nodded, suddenly a lot more serious. "You better keep your word. Which side of the Moon is that portal on?"
The Quinjet's performance far exceeded ordinary spacecraft. Breaking through Earth's atmosphere and crossing Earth–Moon space felt like nothing more than a brief trip. Before long, the Moon's uneven surface—pockmarked and coated in gray dust—rapidly expanded outside the window.
The jet didn't head for the Moon's familiar near side. Instead, it curved around to the far side that eternally faced away from Earth, descending into the shadows of a massive crater. There, a temporary base of considerable size had been established—clearly a secret outpost built by S.H.I.E.L.D. or some other Earth organization.
But at this moment, the base was already drowned in fire and chaos.
Violent explosions erupted one after another. Energy beams streaked wildly in all directions. The number of rock monsters was far beyond what had appeared in the industrial district. They roared, spewed green flames, and tangled with the base's defensive forces… along with several familiar heroes.
The instant Saitama hopped out of the jet's hatch, he saw a scene that hit hard:
Ben Grimm of the Fantastic Four—the orange rock-skinned "Thing"—was pinned to the lunar surface by an especially massive rock beast covered in vicious bone spines. The Thing roared and struggled with all his might, but the creature's strength seemed even greater. Its huge claw, plated with bone spurs, slammed down again and again—each impact kicking up massive waves of lunar dust and shattered rock.
Not far away, Invisible Woman was straining to hold up an unseen force-field shield, blocking the continuous streams of green flame and the huge boulders being hurled by several other monsters. Under the relentless barrage, her shield flickered violently, trembling on the verge of collapse. It was obvious she was barely holding on.
"Johnny! Help Ben!" Mr. Fantastic stretched and twisted his body to evade incoming attacks while shouting up toward the sky.
In the air, "Human Torch" Johnny transformed into a blazing ball of flame was trying to scorch the spined beast's eyes with searing heat to free the Thing. But the fire didn't seem to have much effect on the rock hide. Instead, it drew the beast's attention.
The monster suddenly raised its other free claw. With a silent shriek that seemed to tear the vacuum itself, it viciously swatted toward the Human Torch in midair!
Johnny couldn't dodge in time—he was about to get hit—
At that critical moment, a yellow figure appeared as if by teleportation, right between the beast's claw and the Human Torch.
It was Saitama.
He didn't even look at the incoming claw—strong enough to flatten steel like crackers. He simply reached out casually and, with perfect precision, grabbed the ten thickest bone spines on the monster's arm.
