"Hulk————SMASH!" the green giant roared as he charged again, grabbing one of the monster's arms, trying to rip it off. But the beast's other arm slammed down hard on his back, making him stagger. Then that tail made of solid rock whipped over like a gigantic lash!
"Bang!" Hulk was caught completely off guard. The tail smashed into his side, and his massive body flew off the ground like he'd been hit by a train at full speed, crashing into the wall of an abandoned factory building in the distance and getting buried in bricks and rubble.
The rock monster let out a low, victorious bellow. The core in its chest flared brightly, as if it were charging up energy—getting ready to finish its opponent with a killing blow.
Just then, a bald guy in cheap sportswear, hands in his pockets, strolled past the edge of the battlefield. Saitama had originally come out to the suburbs to see if there were any discounted deals, but he got lost. Hearing a huge commotion over here, he wandered over to watch the show. He looked at the ruins, then at the rock monster that was "charging," and his face didn't change much.
"Oh, it's Hulk. Fighting again?" He recognized the big green guy.
The rubble exploded. Hulk burst out, covered in dust and even angrier, eyes bloodshot, ready to pounce at the monster again. But then he saw a tiny human figure walking straight toward that dangerous beast, unhurried and calm.
Hulk froze for a second and instinctively bellowed, "Little bug! Get out of the way!" He was furious, but he wasn't completely mindless—he didn't want to hurt some unrelated bystander (even if his method was pretty brutal).
But Saitama acted like he didn't hear him. He was already standing in front of the rock monster. The beast noticed the tiny creature too. Maybe it sensed some instinctive threat, maybe it felt insulted—either way, it opened a mouth made of rock packed with jagged teeth, let out an ear-splitting roar, and lunged forward with a stinking gust of air, trying to swallow Saitama whole.
Saitama looked up at the gaping maw coming down and yawned. In the instant before the mouth snapped shut, he casually threw a punch forward.
That punch looked light and effortless, like it didn't even stir much wind.
But the moment his fist landed, the monster's hardest area was pierced like a red-hot iron rod pushed into butter. Saitama's whole arm sank into the beast's chest…
Time seemed to freeze for a heartbeat.
Hulk, still in his charging stance, watched in disbelief as the rage on his huge green face turned into pure shock.
Saitama's arm punched straight through, bursting out of the monster's back. In his hand was a glowing core the size of a basketball, violently pulsing with intense energy. Cracks webbed across its surface, and the light flickered on and off.
Saitama squeezed lightly.
"Crack!"
The core shattered like fragile glass. A blinding flash erupted—then vanished instantly.
The rock monster's body locked up completely. The hole in its chest rapidly widened, and fractures spread across its entire body like a spiderweb. Next, with a roaring cascade of clattering noise, the beast that had forced Hulk into a brutal struggle collapsed and crumbled apart—turning into nothing but ordinary, lifeless stones piled into a small hill.
Saitama flicked his hand as if brushing off dust that wasn't even there, then turned around, ready to leave.
Hulk stood there, staring at the pile of rocks… then staring at the tiny bald guy. His huge head seemed completely unable to process what he'd just seen.
