#Flashback#
I am nervously getting ready for one of the most important days of my life, which is my wedding day. I can't believe I found someone that I can spend the rest of my life with, and that she is not staying with me for the material things that I can provide but to stay with me for my companionship. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever met, and her kindness just makes her beauty shine through even more.
With her long hair as red as blood, her lips as pink as a cherry blossom leaf, her smooth fair skin, and my most favorite part about her, her vibrant green eyes, that lights up whenever she is happy or surprise about something. That's why I love to surprise her a lot. She also loves it when I surprise her with little gifts that she uses it to decorate our house.
Before I know it, it is time for me to stand at the altar. I look at myself for the last time in the mirror and after I made sure nothing is out of place with how I look, I made my way to the altar. I fidget with my tie nervously, as I wait for my future bride to walk down the aisle. "Stop messing with your tie. You're going to mess it up," my best friend whispers to me.
I stop touching my tie and clasp my hands behind me trying to control my nervousness. My best friend who is also my best man for my wedding chuckle as he never thought he would see the day that I would fall in love with somebody and now here I am nervously fidgeting waiting for my bride to arrive.
"I never thought this day would arrive. You're one lucky bastard to find someone as kind and beautiful as her to love and marry you," Andre my best friend whispers to me. I just nodded my head in agreement as I know how lucky I am to meet someone as special as Ruby.
To distract myself from my nervousness, I look around me at all the flowers that decorate this small church. Our wedding is a small one as it consists of family members and friends only and Ruby's family is not here as she told me she ran away from home and does not want her parents to know where she is. I did not agree with her, but she begged me not to let her parents know so I followed her wish.
As I was thinking about that I heard the music start to indicate that the bride is arriving. I held my breath when I see Ruby walkdown the aisle. She looks breathtaking in her pure white wedding dress that is fitting at her upper body but flowing once it reach her hips as small train drags behind her as she walk. Her face is covered with a thin veil that just make her face a bit mysterious.
She seriously just took my breath away and as she gets closer; I can see her eyes watering with unshed tears, that it made me want to cry with joy too, but I held it in as I know if I cried, she would start crying and that will ruin her makeup.
I held out my hand when she reaches me at the end of the aisle, and she put her small and delicate hands in mine. I wrap my hand around her small hand and help her up to the altar to stand in front of the priest. Everything was a blur for me as I see only Ruby. Only when the priest asks for our vows did I came back to reality.
I took a deep breath before I recite my wedding vows.
"From the first day I met you, I somehow knew in my gut that you would be someone precious to me. And I guess I was right since I am now getting married to you. You have shown me what love is and how to love someone. Before you came into my life, I had a hard time letting people into my life and because of that I was lonely. But now my life is brighter thanks to you for bringing light and meaning to my life. You are the most important person to me, and I will love and cherish you until we draw our last breath."
As I said the last words, she started to cry a little. I just smile softly at her while the priest asks her for her vows. Like me she took a deep breath before she began.
"I never thought that I would fall in love so soon but as I got to know you behind the wall you built around yourself, I fell for you. I didn't realize this before, but I have been searching for something when I came to this city and only when I met you did, I realize that I found what I was searching for. I love you with everything that I am, and I will continue to love you until death do us part."
After she finishes her vows a couple of tears escape my eyes, as I stared at her trying to convey my love towards her with my eyes. I only broke our staring when the priest pronounces us husband and wife and that I can kiss the bride. Finally, I thought as I lift her thin veil that was covering her face and lower my face to hers and kiss her lips with the clapping of the audience as a background noise.
After the kiss, I gently led her down from the altar and guide her down the aisle to greet the guests that came to our wedding. Thankfully there was not a lot of guests, so it was not so tiring greeting everybody.
The whole reception has been like a wonderful dream. I got to dance and spend my time with my newly wedded wife.I still get happy every time I think about her being my wife. We enjoy our time laughing with our friends and getting well wishes from my family.
Cutting the huge cake is hilarious because as soon as Ruby cuts the cake, she shoves the cake into my surprise mouth and covers my face with cake. I guess my face must have been very funny, as Ruby is laughing so hard that she is clutching her stomach and did not realize that I grab a handful of cake and rub it in her face in retaliation.
She blinks shocked and now it's my turn to laugh at her expression. And that led to us having a cake fight until we were both a mess and our friends' laughs at us while taking pictures. I just smile at them when they take the pictures, as I couldn't be happier right now.
#Flashback Ends#
I'm brought out from my memory by the sound of a car honking outside of the café that I was relaxing and having a latte. I check the time and it is already so late, so I got out of the comfortable chair while grabbing my wallet from my pocket and taking out money and put on the table for the tips before I walk out of the café.
I took a deep breath of fresh air as I walk to my car. As soon as I'm inside the car I drove home. I let out a sigh when I finally reach home and park the car at the garage before switching off the engine and getting out of the car locking it before I enter the house. I am tired today, so I decided to eat dinner then go to bed early as I have long day ahead of me tomorrow.
So, with that in mind I walk to the kitchen and see that my dinner is already prepared and ready to eat. I silently thanked my maid who comes here every day to cook my meals and clean the house and usually leaves the house before I get back from work.
So, I only see her in the mornings. My stomach growls when I smell the aroma of the delicious lasagna that is on the kitchen counter. Without wasting time, I quickly grab the fork and knife before I start eating.
The maid makes the most delicious food. I was lucky when I got her when I was looking for a maid. I finish the food in no time. Once done, I brought the plate and fork and knife to the sink and wash everything before I walk to the living room to check if everything is in order.
Once I'm satisfied that everything is in place I walk to my room and went straight to the bathroom to have a quick shower before I go to sleep. I felt refresh after a quick shower and brushing my teeth. I was about to sit on my king size bed when I heard the house phone suddenly ringing.
I frown, thinking who would call me at this time of night. I thought about ignoring it but the person who is calling is very persistent as they keep calling. So, with a heavy sigh I got out of bed and trudge to the phone, picking it up on the third ring. "What is it!" I snapped at the person on the phone.
"P-please I-I need yo-your h-help!" the voice of a panicked women replies, and I could have sworn she sounds so familiar until she pleaded with me "Rick please I-I am i-in tro-trouble and ne-ed your help." Everything in me froze when she called me that, as there is only one person in this whole world who calls me by that nickname.
