Actually, Heka's condition was fine, and it was very possible to go straight home without hospitalization. Because he had a very long history of fatal insomnia, he was forced to be hospitalized. It was to find out the progress of his sleeping routine.
Then, he started to stop for a moment from his job and entered the Google search engine. He hoped what happened to him yesterday could be answered through Google. Perhaps, somewhere in the vast sea was the place where he found the clue of the odds that lingered his mind.
Unfortunately, he didn't know the right keywords. The experience was so unusual and surreal. He typed and retyped different words. He tried to capture the essence of what he had gone through.
The hardest part, he had no friend or anyone he knew who might be able to answer his question. Most of them didn't believe in the magical or supernatural at all. Leaving Heka drowned in the isolation of his curiosity.
Heka also muttered, "Indeed, no one believes metaphysical things or wizards. I'm sure that everyone will laugh at me if I tell them about what I encountered yesterday."
Because of that, he didn't say to the parents or doctor who treated him what he had encountered. He just felt lucky that the person he met yesterday in the mall was treated in the next room. He was not allowed to go home yet either. So, he had time to approach him.
"Maybe I should approach that boy tomorrow early in the morning. And then I will find out what really occurred yesterday."
For now, that's what he thought. He also gave up googling all about magic or wizard or occult things. It was time to face the reality by confronting the source of his mystery directly.
Every time he typed the magic keyword, all that appeared was an annoying magic trick. Moreover, he didn't expect the alternative choices to appear at all. It was the Magic Shop, a song from BTS, games about magic, various kinds and films entitled In Magic.
"Heka, close your laptop to eat first and then take the medicine." His mother reminded him gently as night had come. He did not realize that it was already 07.00 at night.
"Okay." He answered quietly. He shut his laptop with a tired sigh.
"After this, I will go home. So, you will be alone here tonight. Is it okay for you?" She asked. Her voice felt concerned and evident.
"Yeah, don't worry about me." Heka replied. His voice sounded reassuring.
"I will come early tomorrow morning. Hopefully, tonight you can sleep well. The doctor said that if you don't have insomnia tonight, maybe tomorrow you can go home." She explained. Her tone was hopeful yet cautious.
Heka nodded. He felt the weight of the day settle on his shoulders.
He didn't know why home had become a terrible thing. Even though it was very good news. Then, Heka remembered something that he had to settle down soon.
He was lost in his mind for a while, swirling like a restless storm. "Yes, it's true that there is something that I haven't finished yet. It is him. I have to get the answer tomorrow."
Breaking the silence, Heka looked at his mother with quiet determination. " Mom, you should go home." Heka said to his mother. His voice was gentle as he wanted her to rest and not worry too much.
The word seemed like shooing her away. But he also didn't want to see his mother and felt tired of keeping him in the hospital. It would be better for her to take a rest at home and sleep in bed than to sleep on the hospital floor.
After his mother went home, Heka went to the balcony. He looked at the balcony next door and hoped the boy would also see the night sky from the balcony. His mind was so amassed and uncontrollable.
He felt that he was controlled by his trivial ambitions. At times, he might be able to ignore it all. Just letting go of the restless urge that tugged his mind. But it was his concern that forced him to act. It compelled him forward despite the fears and doubts.
This inner drive made him certain that what he was doing. Probably, it connected to all his struggles as he challenged to face and find the truth behind. His ambitions deeply intertwined with hid journey. It shaped his purpose and gave him the best efforts.
"I don't know what mistakes I have made in the past or in my previous life. I felt all this tormented me slowly and almost killed me. If it is true that I have made an unforgivable mistake, I will accept this punishment at all.
No, it is not right, and I didn't make any mistakes in my previous life. Because I was born an ordinary human. Reincarnation is just a fantasy, a nonsense myth.
But all that happened to me. It was like a curse. Who did it to me? And why did he do this to me and make me struggle?"
Unfortunately, what happened was not something he expected. He had been standing on the balcony for almost an hour. He noticed no one who left the room just for walking around.
"Of course, everyone is sick here. There's no patient who comes out at night. Even if it's just for standing a while on the balcony. Maybe I'm the only one who has the strangest disease ever. Though it looks trivial. This has been torturing me for 6 years and made me struggle."
Heka was getting chill and entered the room quickly. He closed the door tightly and lay back on his bed.
For a moment he was pensive. He wondered if this time he might be able to sleep or he would stay up all night again, trapped in his restless night. All he could do, was try to close his eyes and drift into sleep.
