Chapter 323 - Chapter 323: Repelling the Green Tide

"WAAAGH!!!" Deafening war cries tore through the icy winds of the tundra, as countless Orks surged like a wild tide towards the Imperial Army's defensive line.

They were clad in tattered rags and rusty iron plates, crudely bound with rivets and scrap metal, wielding "firearms" cobbled together from junk. Crude weld seams still steamed, and the barrels were crooked, yet they eerily erupted with dazzling green light.

Opposite them, the Imperial Army's defensive line was already poised for battle.

On the steel ramparts constructed by millions of reinforcements, heavy Bolters, Lasgun arrays, and automated turrets fired in unison, their scorching barrages weaving a net of death that tore the charging Orks to shreds.

But these Orcs were no longer what they once were; under the radiation of the ancient Kroak's power, their equipment had undergone terrifying mutations.

Those originally fragile iron plates, twisted by the WAAAGH! field, had strangely "evolved" into crude yet indestructible Power Armor. Lasguns only sparked against them, and Bolter impacts left only shallow dents.

Even more terrifying, the "junk weapons" in the Orks' hands were also rapidly transforming.

Iron pipe guns, which could originally only fire wildly based on "I fink," now shot plasma clusters capable of piercing a Chimera's armor; those "big badda-booms" cobbled together from scrap metal and tires fired shells that could even blow up half a bunker.

The Astra Militarum soldiers gritted their teeth, their defensive line shrinking under the Orks' furious assault.

New recruits discovered with horror that Orc Bosses were appearing with increasing frequency. These powerful Orc warriors, much larger than typical Orcs, wielded 'big choppas' and 'big shootas,' easily crushing entire squads of soldiers. Only Astartes could contend with them.

However, the number of Astartes along the entire defensive line was dwindling. The remaining forces of the Blood Knights were insufficient to maintain the defense of the entire line.

Even more despairing, the massive figures of 'Killa Kans' began to emerge from the green tide. They advanced with heavy steps, using modified'super big shootas' to blast the Imperial Army's positions into scorched earth.

The sky was no longer safe either; accompanied by the piercing roar of engines, red-painted Orc fighter jets screamed overhead, dropping a series of explosive scrap metal chunks that blew up anti-aircraft positions in a blaze of fire.

The battle was spiraling out of control. Kroak's power spread like a plague; every single moment, the Orks grew stronger, crazier, and more WAAAGH!.

On the blizzard-swept battlefield, the Imperial Army's defensive line tottered under the impact of the Green-skinned Orc tide.

Soldiers gripped their hot Lasguns, sweat and blood freezing into ice crystals on their eyelashes and beards in the extreme cold.

Communication channels were filled with desperate shouts and dying gasps; the defensive line could collapse at any moment.

Just at this critical juncture, a strange change suddenly occurred on the battlefield—the terrifying green light enveloping the Orks abruptly vanished, like a flame extinguished by an invisible hand.

The Orc Boys, who had originally glowed with WAAAGH! energy, still roared as they charged, but the suffocating sense of oppression had noticeably weakened.

A blood-stained veteran was the first to notice the anomaly. He suddenly looked up and found that the Orks charging towards him were moving significantly slower.

Those choppas that could originally tear through flak armor with ease now only left shallow marks on the ceramite plates; the crude "shootas" fired bullets that no longer easily penetrated cover as before.

"They're weaker!" Someone in the trench shouted first, and the cry spread like a plague across the position.

Company Commanders initially thought this was a sign that decapitation tactics had worked—according to the 'Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer,' Orks without WAAAGH! field support should crumble like invertebrates with their spines removed.

But the scene before them defied common sense.

Although these Orcs had lost their green light enhancement, they still maintained a terrifying fighting will.

They bared their fangs and continued to charge, their shattered limbs still twitching, attempting to grasp weapons, as if the WAAAGH! field was still driving them.

Orbital Imperial fleet augur operators were the first to detect the battlefield anomaly.

On the holographic tactical map, the Orks' combat intensity had clearly decreased. Although their WAAAGH! field was still strong, it was undeniable that they had indeed weakened.

This crucial intelligence, like a wildfire, quickly spread across the entire battlefield.

Encrypted command hummed through communication channels, and data streams surged through the tactical network, delivering news of the turning tide to every waiting unit.

Armored unit Commanders received the attack order almost simultaneously. On the holographic tactical map, green light points representing the counterattack opportunity lit up like stars.

The already poised Leman Russ Tank formations roared deafeningly, their diesel engines spewing thick black exhaust, and their wide tracks rolled over the frozen earth, leaving deep furrows in the tundra.

The main guns roared one after another. Amidst the shrieking of armor-piercing shells tearing through the air, the Orks, stripped of their energy shields, fell in swathes like wheat reaped by a scythe.

The blast waves lifted a sky full of blood mist, and green severed limbs flew through the air, then heavily crashed onto the frozen ground.

The Chimera armored vehicle formations advanced like a steel torrent, their heavy Bolters on the turrets spewing fire, weaving a dense crossfire net.

The vehicle-mounted automated turrets continuously adjusted their angles, tearing apart any Orc Boys attempting to regroup.

Infantry advanced steadily under the cover of the armored vehicles, their Lasgun volleys like crimson raindrops, precisely picking off stragglers.

In the sky, Lightning fighter squadrons seized the opportunity and dived, their wing-mounted missile pods spewing a deadly rain.

Precisely guided missiles, as if with eyes, burrowed into the crevices of the Green-skinned Orc war machines. These steel behemoths, which once could withstand Lasgun bombardments, now turned into burning scrap metal in the face of modern weaponry.

The explosions' firelight reddened the entire sky, and thick smoke rose like giant pillars.

With the addition of the orbital fleet's Macro Cannons, this counterattack reached its climax.

Artillery fire raining from the sky like divine punishment completely engulfed the Orc vanguard in a tide of flames and steel.

The massive shockwaves even altered the local terrain, creating several hundred-meter-diameter craters on the tundra, filled with twisted metal and charred corpses.

Seeing their vanguard completely annihilated, the subsequent Orks surprisingly chose to retreat—a rare occurrence in Orc combat records.

They threw down their weapons and pushed each other as they fled backward, the green tide showing signs of retreat for the first time.
