Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Where is the Astral Express?

"So, where is the Astral Express?" The tall Grey-haired girl looked up at the island far above in the sky, a visible bewilderment on her somewhat indifferent small face.

The grass under her feet felt very real, and the breeze blowing past her was enough to prove that all of this was not a dream.

A very familiar baseball bat lay by her feet. If she remembered correctly, this seemed to be a bizarre collection from Ms. Herta, the Eighty-third Seat of the Genius Society.

She had casually taken it later…

"Oh, right!" After staring blankly at the island in the sky for a while, the Damselette finally seemed to remember something.

She hurriedly rummaged through her clothes and quickly pulled out her phone from her top pocket.

The phone was still functional, but there was no signal or internet.

Logically, there should at least be a family group chat for the Astral Express, but she searched her entire phone and couldn't find anything to contact anyone else.

She didn't know where she was, but judging by her surroundings, she guessed that the world she was in was not a developed modern one.

In other words, her phone probably couldn't even be charged…

"Huh?"

No, it should be able to.

The Grey-haired girl held up her phone and aimed it at the sun.

With a 'ding!', the phone's precarious battery began to slowly increase.

"As expected, as a trailblazer traversing various star systems, how could battery power be such an inconvenience?" The Damselette nodded in satisfaction, a faint smile gracing her face.

When she woke up, she already had some understanding of her situation.

She must have transmigrated.

However, she couldn't remember how she got here, and her mind was a bit muddled. Trying to recall only brought up some vague fragments.

Astral Express, trailblazer, destiny…

These things vaguely surfaced in her mind, not very clearly.

But the memory issue could be put aside for now; the current situation was the most important.

Reality was completely different from the scenes in her mind, and furthermore, none of the people she knew were by her side.

The island in distant space at least proved the existence of civilization in this world, but going up there was completely impossible; she had no way.

But there should also be civilization on the ground, right…? It couldn't be that everyone in this world lived on that small island in the sky.

"Forget it, I'll take it one step at a time." Putting her significantly charged phone back into her top pocket, the Grey-haired girl casually picked up the baseball bat beside her.

It wasn't that she was overly optimistic; it was just that panicking now was useless. Calmness was the correct choice.

Moreover, from today on, she would live as "Stelle."

In this unknown world.

In this situation, overthinking might not be a good thing for herself.

------------

Stelle had no wilderness survival experience, but truthfully, the forest before her couldn't really be called a "wilderness."

At least there was some easily obtainable food.

"Goodbye Homerun!" With a somewhat chuunibyou-like shout of a skill name, Stelle's baseball bat heavily struck the poor tree.

This heavy blow didn't break the tree in half, but it was enough to make the fruits on the tree fall down, and incidentally scare away a few birds on the tree.

Perhaps someone would ask why anime characters always shout out the names of their moves when attacking—Stelle twirled her baseball bat, pondering a strange question in her mind.

"Actually, it's like playing 'Fight the Landlord'; everyone always shouts out what they're playing when they play cards. Is that chuunibyou? No, it's momentum…"

Of course, that was just a question in her mind; in reality, no one expected her answer.

The scene was a bit awkward, but no one cared except her.

"Sigh… really, what am I muttering to myself about?" Stelle shook her head helplessly and bent down to pick up all the fruits on the ground one by one.

She had never seen this kind of fruit before, but it looked edible.

It should contain a lot of water, enough to quench her thirst.

She hoped it was ripe.

Stelle didn't hesitate much and took a bite with her small mouth.

The texture was good, and the taste was fine. Simply put, it was very crisp and sweet, able to quench thirst but not necessarily fill her stomach.

So, the most urgent task was to leave this forest and find a place with people.

But…

Stelle looked around again, seeing nothing but trees.

Which way should she go?

Would it be better to climb a tree and look around?

Stelle looked up at the heavily damaged tree in front of her, estimating the possibility of climbing it in her mind.

"Let's try it. It's better than blindly wandering around!" Stelle finished the fruit in two or three bites and made her decision.

She casually threw her baseball bat, and the bat naturally disappeared into thin air.

But Stelle could still feel her connection to it; if she wanted it, she could summon it at will.

She didn't understand the principle behind it, but she didn't care much about it either.

Perhaps this was the trailblazer's original special ability.

She only hoped that when she saw the people of this world later, they wouldn't find it too strange.

"Heave-ho—"

With not-so-agile movements, the Damselette, after struggling for more than ten minutes, finally climbed to the top of the large tree.

Standing on the tree branch, her Vision instantly improved significantly.

Although other trees still caused some obstruction, at least she saw something that brought her hope.

Not far to her north… let's call it north for now, anyway, right in front of her Vision, there was a small path.

And it didn't look like the kind of path worn by animals over many years.

There were definitely artificial traces in it.

This was the best news for her.

She quickly jumped down from the tree, and incidentally took two bird eggs from a bird's nest on the tree trunk.

These might come in handy someday; if she got hungry, they would be an important source of protein.

Her current goal was that small path. Although she didn't know where it led, following that road would eventually lead her to human habitation.

Let's go!
