Chapter 9 - 9. Ki and Mindset

After Yanyue Mei told him that she would bring him the scrolls he needed for his cultivation that he wanted, she left the room and made a beeline for the library as she passed by the people of the sect but she didn't give them any attention as her resolute face discouraged anymore from approaching her, even Guo Shen wasn't brave enough to approach her even though he wanted to talk to her about Genshu Hao.

She entered the library and went to the forbidden section as she quickly walked past the guard and entered the place. She quickly pulled out the two scrolls that she wanted, and then swiftly walked out of there and back to her room, where she found Genshu Hao sitting cross legged on the bed and with closed eyes, with the breathing pattern telling her that he is mediating as she paused in her steps.

'He is always meditating like that. He has always worked hard, if only I hadn't...' Yanyue Mei thought to herself as she resumed her steps.

Genshu Hao opened his eyes as he saw his teacher come with the scrolls and his eyes lit up at the sight. Something that she had seen as she felt more happy at the expression on his face as she felt better already.

She placed the scrolls on the table as she looked at her disciple as he looked at her with a serious face.

"I brought two scrolls from the forbidden section, perhaps with their guidance you will finally be able to transcend your current core stage." Yanyue Mei said to her student seriously and gently.

"Thank you lady Yanyue." Genshu Hao said to her with a bow.

"Big sister." Yanyue Mei said immediately as he blinked and realised what he had done.

"Sorry, thank you big sister." Genshu Hao said as he corrected himself.

"It's fine. But from now on, I want you to call me that whenever we are alone." Yanyue Mei said to him gently.

"Of course." Genshu Hao said with a nod.

"Good. Now, let's look at these scrolls. They were written by the first and greatest of the sect, with these we might be able to find a way to transcend you core stage." Yanyue Mei said as she grabbed one scroll and sat on the bed as she opened it.

Genshu Hao leaned on her as his arms brushed hers as they looked at the contents for the scroll and read through it as they scrutinized the words written on it, not just because they wanted to be thorough but the language used to write the scroll is a big archaic so they need a bit of time to ensure that they didn't get the wrong idea.

They read through the entire scroll and the methods in it as the two looked contemplative and then at each other.

"So, did you understand what it was saying?" Genshu Hao asked her as she was more proficient in understanding the olden language.

"From what I could understand, the scroll dictates that the way to transcend your core stages, you need to learn to circulate your ki through your meridians and you also have to take up the mindset of the sect." Yanyue Mei said as she read it one more time before closing it and placing it on the table gently.

"The mindset of the sect. To see ourselves as the pinnacle the world and look down on them like the eternal moon that hangs in the sky and the ability to traverse through the winds of time like the swallows that fly through the sky. We are transcendents who see the world from the heavens up high." Genshu Hao said calmly as he remembered it.

While he is not sure if that is the true statement of the sect, considering the fact that it is quite old, he did get the point that it was making. To see yourself as the absolute superior to everything else in the world and all other things as beneath you, the mindset of a true transcendent being who stands at the pinnacle of the living.

That mindset is seen in the people who cultivate in the sect, and even Yanyue Mei has shown these traits. She carries herself with the aura of someone who is superior to others and always acts with confidence, and see herself as someone who is one who could challenge the very world itself. This was a trait shown by the other elders as well, and especially by her grandfather who has the aura of someone that is above the rest. He usually doesn't interfere much in the sect, the only reason he had visited was because it was his granddaughter's disciple who had been wounded, otherwise he wouldn't have come.

After all, why would a superior person like the head of the sect actually come to inquire about the state of one of the most talentless cultivators of the sect. Even if he did have negotiation skills that has helped the sect, it wouldn't be enough to get the attention of the Sect's head.

"Yes. I followed the teachings, but it's still isn't perfect. But perhaps we should started with channeling your ki through your body." Yanyue Mei said to him with a smile.

"Okay. I have been training in doing that, so I don't know how I can make it better." Genshu Hao said to his teacher a bit nervously.

"I don't think that's true. I'm sure that you will be able to transcend your current state if you were to control your Ki with enough proficiency." Yanyue Mei said to him with a gentle smile.

"Alright, if you say so." Genshu Hao said with a nod before he closed his eyes and sat in the lotus position and touched the tips of his to each other and started to manipulate his ki.

Yanyue Mei used her Ki to look at Genshu Hao's meridians and her eyes widened when she saw how he was doing it. He was channeling his ki perfectly through his meridians from his core, it was seamless, it was clean and the control he had on his Ki was perfect, especially for someone in the copper core stage, and it stunned her.

She watched him for a few seconds as he channeled his Ki through his meridians with calm control and she couldn't help the swell of pride she felt in her chest as she saw this happen, to see the control he has on his own ki made her feel very happy. And then her eyes became downcast as she remembered how she had treated him.

'I should've done this before. Instead of focusing on Zhun He, I should've focused on Genshu Hao, instead I wanted him to go at his own pace and only taught him lessons which I just repeated.' Yanyue Mei thought to herself as she curled her fists with a frown on her beautiful face.

She looked at her disciple as he followed her orders faithfully and did the job perfectly as she pressed her lips together before exhaling softly as she decided that it was enough.

"That's enough. You don't need to do that anymore, this is already enough." Yanyue Mei said as she pulled him out of the activity.

He opened his eyes at her words and looked at her, wondering what they would be doing now as she looked at him.

"You have great control over your ki, especially for someone in the copper stage. I think, you should try to adopt the mindset that our Sect embodies." Yanyue Mei said to him as he sighed.

"It's kind of hard to do that when I know that I am weaker than everyone in the sect." Genshu Hao said with a shake of his head.

Yanyue Mei trembled at his words as she knew that it was truth, but she wasn't about to make the same mistake as before and will try her utmost to ensure his success.

"Genshu Hao, perhaps I can bring you a pill that will help you transcend the copper core stage." Yanyue Mei said which surprised him as he looked at her.

"Really? You would do that?" Genshu Hao asked in shock.

"Why wouldn't I do that?" Yanyue Mei asked as she dreaded the answer.

"Well, considering how the pills are made and since I have been at this for years, you said that I should have transcended long ago and that I should do it on my own. You rejected my request for a pill a few months ago so I didn't think you would actually allow me to take a pill." Genshu Hao said with sincerity as she gulped at that as she remembered how she had rejected it.

'I wanted him to reach the Silver core stage on his own since he was my disciple. I wanted my disciple to do it without the help of a pill, all because of my damn pride. I didn't want people to think that my disciple couldn't transcend just by my teachings, and yet that almost cost me his life. What use is my pride, if I were to cause the death of my beloved disciple.' Yanyue Mei thought to herself as she looked at him with remorse before she steeled herself.

"That was before. I wanted you to reach the Silver core stage on your own without the help of a pill, so that I could say that you managed to do it without a pill. It was due to my pride as a master that I wanted you to do it on your own." Yanyue Mei said to him with remorse as she looked at him with guilt.

Genshu Hao's eyes widened when he heard that before they softened in understanding.

'I guess I can understand that. She is the princess, so to hear the fact that her disciple is not even able to pass the Copper core stage that every cultivator is able to do without the help of a pill, that isn't exactly something that you want, especially considering her position. It's not practical, but I can understand the sentiment after living in this world for so long.' Genshu Hao thought to himself as he looked at him.

"If that is what you want Ma- big sister, I am more than happy to continue it. I know how much respect you gain from your position and I don't want to tarnish it." Genshu Hao said to her gently.

Yanyue Mei's eyes widened at his words as her lips trembled at his face and the softness in his eyes.

'Even after I had almost caused his death, he doesn't blame me for it... And yet, I didn't even help him due to my pride. Even if the other Sects will look down on me for doing this, I am not going to endanger the life of my disciple again. I will protect him with all I have.' Yanyue Mei thought to herself as she looked at him resolutely.

"Don't worry about it. As your master this is what I should've done. I will bring a pill which will help you reach the Silver core stage, and then I will teach you with everything I have and more." Yanyue Mei said to him seriously as his eyes widened before he gently bowed to her.

"Thank you, Master." Genshu Hao said as he gave the bow as Yanyue Mei watched him.

'I vow on my name and status as the princess of the Moon Swallow Sect, I will protect you Genshu Hao.' Yanyue Mei thought to herself with resolution.
