Chapter 178 - Chapter 177: Odin’s Blunder

Deep beneath the ocean's surface, something colossal stirred — struggling to break through layers upon layers of ancient seals, as though trying to claw its way back into the world.

Minos narrowed his eyes. As cosmic energy surged around him, his long silver hair danced wildly in the tempestuous wind.

"Oro… Kur… Oro… Kol…"

At that moment, a faint smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

"So that's how it is…"

Kur might be the great serpent — but the will within him no longer belonged to Kur himself.

Just as the evil star Kerr once separated from the Sagittarius constellation, the so-called God of Fear, the former God-King of Asgard, had long since been possessed by something far more ancient and terrible.

On Kur's body, remnants of Minos' own Star Puppet Threads still glimmered faintly.

His cosmic energy lingered on them — impossible to erase.

There were only two forces in all existence that could destroy those threads:one, the Absolute Zero frost of a Glacier Saint capable of freezing the threads completely;and two, the Phoenix Flame — the immortal fire of resurrection.

Of course, the sacred flame of Bennu's Brightfire would do the same.

Kur possessed neither. The divine power within him was steeped only in corrosion and fear.

He had no means to break free from Minos' control.

But then—

From the heavens above, a radiance pierced through the Nine Realms.

Asgard. The Bifrost Bridge.

Behind the shimmering veil of the rainbow light stood a one-eyed god — tall, majestic, and solemn. In his hand, he held the spear that had once pierced the hearts of giants: Gungnir, the Spear of Eternity.

Odin, the All-Father, gazed silently down upon the world below.

"Kur…" he muttered softly, his single eye filled with grim resolve.

A warrior beside him cried out, "Your Majesty! Kur's seal has been broken! Midgard is on the brink of destruction!"

Odin nodded slightly.

But his destiny had already been altered the day Minos struck down the gods who sat in shadow.

He no longer feared fate.

"Then let me end this myself."

In the next instant, divine power surged through the heavens — a blazing meteor of pure light fell from the sky!

Minos barely had time to react before the holy spear Gungnir descended like divine judgment, piercing straight through Kur's chest and plunging deep into the ocean below.

"Odin!!!"

Kur's voice thundered as his massive body plummeted from the heavens.

Just moments ago, he had proclaimed the return of Jörmungandr — but now…

A vast shadow rose from the depths of the ocean — a creature of unimaginable size, its head alone as large as a city.

With a single motion, the monster opened its maw and swallowed Kur whole.

The ocean roared. The sky trembled.

Even Minos, standing high above, was forced back hundreds of meters by the sheer force of its emergence.

"Tch…" he hissed softly.

At that moment, several Specters from Hades' army appeared behind him, their dark wings cutting through the storm.

They had just finished subduing the Sky Hammer warriors in another region — only to arrive here by fate's cruel timing.

Minos raised a hand, signaling them to hold their position. He wanted to see what would rise from the depths.

Then—

A thunderclap split the horizon.

A storm of lightning burst across the sea, and from within it descended a mighty figure clad in chain mail — Thor, God of Thunder, wielding the hammer Mjolnir.

"Kur, you old traitor!" Thor roared. "Die!!"

With a swing of his hammer, divine lightning exploded across the ocean.

The strike obliterated what remained of the City of Fear, tearing it apart in a storm of thunder and flame.

Thor's eyes glowed gold — the mark of his full divine awakening. His power surged to its peak, now standing only a breath below Minos' own.

The Seventh Sense–perfect Minos. The Third Stage God of Thunder.

Both now stood against a single target — the colossal creature churning within the ocean's depths.

And then—

The World Serpent rose.

The sea split apart as an enormous serpent, scales black as night, lunged upward with a roar that shook the sky.

A venomous tail lashed out, shattering clouds and sending waves miles high.

Minos reacted instantly, soaring into the air — but Thor, caught mid-attack, was struck full-force.

The impact sent him crashing into the sea, his body spinning like a rag doll.

The serpent's scales were lined with poison and bone spurs — each one lethal. Even if he survived, only the goddess Frigg herself could hope to heal him.

The ocean boiled. Thunder roared.

The creature had fully awakened — the legendary World Serpent, Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent of prophecy.

The same monster destined to bring about Ragnarök, to slay Thor, and to drag the world tree Yggdrasil into ruin.

Now it towered before Minos.

Minos gazed upward, his expression unreadable.

No matter how vast the serpent's power, it could not invade the realm of the Underworld Palace — a domain separate from the Nine Realms, ruled by Lord Hades himself.

The Underworld had already usurped the authority of the living — it was now the hidden master of the Milky Way.

But what amused Minos most was this—

He still held one of the puppet threads in his hand.

The main thread, the origin of all his Star Puppet Strings — and it still pulsed with divine energy.

Kur had been devoured, but the thread remained connected… inside Jörmungandr.

Minos smirked faintly, tightening his grip.

Instantly, a sharp pain shot through the serpent's mouth!

Jörmungandr convulsed violently, its enormous body thrashing through the sea, churning up tidal waves that crashed across continents.

"Grrrrrraaaahhh!!!"

The serpent roared, thrashing toward the surface.

Even beside such an enormous creature, Minos seemed no larger than a speck of dust.

Venom spewed into the sky like rain, forcing even the nearby Specters to retreat — many of the weaker soldiers were dissolved instantly, their souls returning to Hades.

"Stand back," Minos said softly.

The puppet threads in his hand tightened further.

The World Serpent's power might surpass that of a Heavenly Father–level god, but it was still nowhere near that of a True God — let alone the might of Hades himself.

Such a creature could not possibly harm him.

"Jörmungandr," Minos said coldly, "your opponent… is me."

With a flick of his fingers, the threads constricted once more.

Agony rippled through the serpent's body, forcing it to writhe in pain, stirring up tsunamis that swallowed the horizon.

In those vast green eyes, Minos saw the flicker of panic — the dawning realization that the very pain tearing through its body came not from divine will…

…but from his puppet thread.
