Chapter 26 - CRIMSON OATH ( 7 ) - TEA WITH A MONSTER

Michael is breathing heavily after remembering the Elena flashback, and his energy is dropping rapidly. His weapon, Regicide, is unleashing a great amount of energy.

Michael turns behind and sees no one, as it was all a hallucination.

He is having trouble walking, and just when he is about to collapse, he remembers what he has to do. Now Michael abandons his original mission, where he infiltrates Crimson Oath, gathers information, and then leaves. Now, he will save everyone there and choose the person over the mission.

The town is going crazy as the protest against Lucien Draven grows stronger, led by the NO LUCIEN club.

Michael arrives at the scene.

Olivia asks,

"Where were you?"

He replies,

"I was busy... but not anymore."

He kisses Olivia on her forehead and says,

"You will be fine."

CRIMSON OATH STARTS BREAKING INTO FACTIONS AS PEOPLE START CLAIMING THEIR LAND.

Michael starts heading into the building to meet Lucien Draven, and no guards stop him.

He arrives, thinking Lucien will be mad at him and that they will start fighting, but instead he sees Lucien drinking tea.

"Hi, Michael. Here, have some tea, my friend."

"So, you have learned my true identity then, Lucien Draven, #2 Crimson Oath."

"Number 2? You really are flying high, Mike."

"Go out to those windows. See and listen to the noises, the banners... all of them say MIKE. All these people were yours back then. What happened, huh?"

"You are completely wrong. You think winning a few times makes you the best? No. It's being consistent that matters."

"ALL OF THESE PEOPLE ARE WEAKLINGS. THEY DO NOT PROVIDE ANYTHING TO SOCIETY. THEY ARE HYPOCRITES. THEY CHANGE SIDES BASED ON HYPE. THEY FOLLOW EACH OTHER. THEIR OPINION DOES NOTHING TO ME AT ALL... BUT YOURS DOES."

"Lucien, your philosophy is twisted. It's something that cannot happen in this world."

"Then let's make it happen, Mike. Stay with me."

"No. This world isn't yours to conquer, neither is it mine. It's the people's, Lucien... the people."

"No. History doesn't remember those weaklings. It remembers kings and monarchs."

"You think people are more important than your mission. If you had stayed true to your mission, you would be somewhere in your hideout... not here."

"Let me guess, Mike... you picked the mission over a person..."

"...and then that person died."

Michael blinks and just stares into the void.

"What happened? I said something that meant a lot."

"Hey, listen. You are in a twisted situation."

(Want more tea?)

"So listen to this advice: leave this ideology of yours, go out, explore this town, and come back to me if you want to talk more."

"I don't want to fight you. I want to see you break into tears as everything you believed was right turns out to be wrong."

"Lucien, I understand I haven't been saying a lot lately, but who do you think you are? You just say things, but you are not what you think you are. A conqueror is someone who conquers, which is not you at all. You have nothing. Everything you had is now divided into factions."

"Nobody will remember a loser like you because you have done nothing memorable."

Michael sits down on the couch, asking Lucien to pour him some tea.

"Alright, Mike. It's enough now. You can take a sleep now, because things are going to get interesting for me."

"Lucien... you are a monster."

"You call me a monster, yet you manipulated an entire town. Tell me... when exactly did we become different?"

"It's the reason for doing something."

"All these people down there think you are the hero."

"Heroes create hope. Hope creates weakness."

"Lucien, you think all these people are your tools, but I believe they are reasons. You want me to rule with you."

"If ruling the world means becoming like you, I'd rather watch it reject me."

"Michael, after everything you have done, you think you are still a hero?"

"No."

Lucien smiles.

"Good."

Michael draws Regicide.

"Because heroes hesitate..."

"I don't."
