Chapter 118 - Chapter 118: Carla Is Born

"I'm so full!"

Natsu rubbed his swollen stomach and slumped back onto the sofa. Gray and Lyon beside him were the same, their bellies just as round.

"I didn't expect Noah's cooking to be this good. I never imagined it."

Levy and Kagura sat together, enjoying the peaceful after-dinner atmosphere.

"Brother Noah really is amazing at cooking. You should come learn from him too."

Levy hesitated at Kagura's suggestion, her eyes flickering with interest.

"Do you think… I could?"

"Noah already promised Lisanna and the others that they can come learn every day. Let's ask him together."

Kagura pulled Levy to her feet, and the two of them made their way to Noah. When he heard their request, Noah agreed without hesitation.

"Of course. The more the merrier I'd be happy to teach you too."

Levy let out a breath of relief. But before anyone could say more, a sharp sound broke through the room

Crack.

The sound of eggshells splitting echoed out, followed by Wendy's voice ringing with excitement.

"It's starting! Brother Noah, it's hatching!"

Everyone jumped to their feet and hurried to gather around the incubator.

Just like when Happy had been born, the egg trembled and splintered, bits of shell falling away piece by piece.

Wendy and Yukino stood closest, their fists clenched tightly in front of their chests, their faces full of nervous focus.

Finally, with a sharp crack, the shell split open completely and from the fragments, a tiny white cat emerged.

"So cute!"

All the girls gasped at once, their eyes shining as they leaned forward. They all wanted to scoop up the adorable little cat in their arms.

At the same moment, intricate magic circles flickered across Noah's eyes, and matching circles briefly shimmered around the newborn white cat. They appeared so quickly that only a handful of sharp-eyed mages noticed.

Startled by Noah suddenly activating magic, several guild members stepped back, watching him nervously.

Noah didn't answer immediately. His eyes remained fixed on the glowing circles, while the little white cat lowered her head. Then, as if startled, she suddenly raised it again.

The circles faded, and Noah exhaled. Everyone else breathed a sigh of relief as well. Wendy, however, leaned in anxiously.

"Brother Noah, is she alright?"

Noah's expression softened as he looked at the little white cat. He shook his head gently.

"There's no problem. She's perfectly healthy. I just sensed a special magical fluctuation from her and wanted to be sure."

Ultear stepped closer, her eyes sharp.

"And? Did you discover anything?"

Noah nodded.

"I did. And it's probably a good thing. That surge of energy came from her. It seems she activated her innate magic the moment she was born."

"Like Happy's magic?"

Erza glanced at the little blue cat perched proudly on Natsu's head. By now, everyone in the guild knew that Happy's wings weren't ordinary they were a natural-born magic called Aera, allowing him to fly.

Noah shook his head and answered Erza,

"The magical fluctuations are different. It isn't Aera. This is something more advanced."

He turned to Wendy.

"Wendy, you can help her train in the future, so she can slowly explore and master this magic on her own."

"Yeah, I understand, Noah."

Relieved that the little white cat was healthy, Wendy also made a mental note of Noah's words. She resolved to work even harder in the future.

"Alright, she's fine. Now we need to give her a name. Wendy, you should name her. She's a little female cat."

"Eh? Me? I don't think I can…"

Wendy's hands flailed nervously as she tried to refuse. But Erza's voice was firm.

"You brought her here, and you've been taking care of her. It's best if you're the one to name her."

"Me?"

Wendy glanced around nervously. But everyone smiled warmly, silently encouraging her.

Seeing their expressions, Wendy felt courage swell inside her. She took a deep breath.

"Then… I'll name her. I'll call her… Carla. Is that alright?"

Wendy spoke carefully, testing the name. Ultear gave a small nod.

"Carla? That's a wonderful name. Let's call her Carla from now on."

The others all nodded in agreement. Seeing that everyone accepted her choice, Wendy's face lit up as she hugged the little white cat.

"From now on, your name will be Carla!"

As soon as the name was decided, the girls crowded forward, eager to hold Carla. A tense atmosphere rose between them as they tried to take turns.

The boys, however, weren't interested in hugging a kitten and stepped away with bored expressions.

Noah quietly gathered up all of Carla's eggshells, storing them as keepsakes. He had done the same for Happy, but rather than entrust Natsu with them, Noah kept them himself. He worried that Natsu might accidentally burn them.

Only after every girl had taken her turn holding Carla did the excitement finally settle down.

After witnessing Carla's birth, the guild members gradually dispersed, heading off to their own tasks. Most went to the training grounds to continue their practice.

Noah stayed behind, conducting a more detailed examination of Carla and preparing special nutritional potions.

Under Noah's care, both Happy and Carla grew well. With Natsu and Wendy doting on them constantly, the two Exceeds were rarely apart from their partners.

Time passed quickly, and many new members joined the guild. Among them were Yuansuke, nicknamed Jade, and Troy.

Not long after they joined, they asked Levy to form a team. She agreed, and so Shadow Gear was born.

The three had already reached the necessary level of strength, and soon began accepting requests as a team.

The younger generation of Fairy Tail had grown fast. Though the three Strauss siblings had only been around a short time, Mirajane's talent shone. Her strength improved rapidly, and she quickly met the guild's standards.

Lisanna and Elfman, after steady training, also gained reliable strength. The three siblings began taking jobs together as a team.

The only ones still too young for missions were Wendy and Yukino. Since they both lived under Noah's roof, Makarov wasn't worried about them.

During this time, Noah also began studying something new Dragon Slayer Magic.

Dragon Slayer Magic could accomplish things that ordinary magic could not. The most obvious trait was its ability to alter the user's body, allowing them to consume items or magic of the same element to restore their magic power and physical strength. Their bodies also developed a natural resistance against magic of the same attribute.

At this point, Noah had managed to record detailed data on both Fire Dragon Slayer Magic and Sky Dragon Slayer Magic. After a long period of study and research, he had even succeeded in learning both types.

But Noah had never once used them.

The reason was simple: the moment Dragon Slayer Magic was cast, the caster's body would begin to transform into that of a dragon. Unless Noah found a way to counteract this side effect, he refused to risk using the spells.

Even though he could analyze the data of the two magics at any time, he remained at a loss as to how to eliminate the dragonization effect. What he needed was more knowledge, more research, and more time to expand his understanding of magic.

Just then, Makarov's voice reached him through communication magic, summoning him back to the guild.
