"What? The Dark Spark Lens (Dark Tiga)? (TN: For those unfamiliar with Ultraman, it's a very old Japanese TV series. Ultraman himself is a gigantic, humanoid extraterrestrial being.)
There's actually something like this?!
This really is an SS-rank item.
Even if it's single-use, who could say no to turning into an Ultraman?"
Maguire's heart was already surging like a storm. A fifty-fifty chance to pull the Dark Spark Lens—he couldn't resist. He started the draw. The diamond wheel spun, and a pleasant chime sounded in his head.
[Host consumes 200 Bully Points.
Congratulations—ordinary item acquired: 1 trillion USD.
Title granted: Earth's Richest.
Funds have been deposited into your account by special means.]
Seeing all those zeroes, Maguire could only stare. Money meant nothing to him now. Still… Earth's Richest had a nice ring to it.
The wheel ticked to the next prize slot.
[B-rank item: Nine-Turn Strength Pill.]
His remaining Bully Points were down to 530—just enough for two more pulls. He spun again.
[Congratulations—S-rank item acquired: Pig Talisman of the Twelve Talismans.
Ability granted: laser vision.]
"Tch. The Pig Talisman isn't bad… but compared to the Spark Lens? Who could refuse becoming an Ultraman?"
Back to the wall, he went all in on the final pull. He fixed his eyes on the diamond wheel.
[Congratulations—SS-rank item acquired: Dark Spark Lens (single-use).
Consumable. The user may transform into Dark Tiga and wield all Dark Tiga's abilities.]
Maguire grinned from ear to ear. "Dark Tiga—now that's insane."
His Bully Points were bottomed out—only 130 left, nowhere near enough for another draw.
Meanwhile, at the Fantastic Four HQ, the Invisible Woman, Susan, simmered. "Unbelievable. He just took advantage of me and vanished? Irresponsible jerk. I'm not letting that slide." Fuming, she pulled up the number Maguire left the last time they ate together and called.
At Maguire's villa, his phone vibrated. An unknown number. He frowned and picked up. "Hello? Who is this?"
A furious female voice blasted through. "You've got a lot of nerve asking who I am!"
Ah—Invisible Woman, Susan. Maguire couldn't help the smile that tugged his lips as he remembered the prank he'd pulled on her last time. "Oh, it's you. What's up?"
"Hmph! Don't think you can hit and run," Susan snapped. "I'm not that kind of girl. Anyway, I'm hungry. I want a big dinner. Arrange it—now. Come pick me up at the Baxter Building!"
The line went dead.
Maguire rubbed his temple. "Seriously? She's so… earnest." But a man couldn't lounge around while his bros hustled. He stood, heading downstairs.
Uncle Ben and Aunt May looked up from the living room, faces hesitant but warm. "Peter, don't you already have a girlfriend? When are you bringing her by?"
So even Uncle Ben and Aunt May were this gossipy? He couldn't exactly bring Susan—her identity was public. Better to bring Gwen by when there was time.
"No problem, Uncle Ben. I'll bring her over in a couple of days."
The old couple nodded, satisfied. Soon after, Maguire left the villa.
Far away, in London.
In a seemingly ordinary school hallway, a man in a brown leather jacket walked alone—until a figure rolled toward him in a wheelchair.
"Logan, you're back? You didn't run into Sabretooth, did you?"
It was Wolverine—Logan. The bald man in the chair was Professor Charles Xavier, and this was his school for mutants.
Logan's jaw clenched. "Victor is dead."
"How?" Xavier blinked. "Impossible. With Victor's regeneration, killing him shouldn't be feasible."
Logan relayed what he'd learned. "Not just Victor. Juggernaut—the terrifying one—got smashed to within an inch of his life."
"I crossed paths with that man in New York," Logan added. "Back then he wasn't this monstrous. Half a year later and he's become… this. It's hard to believe."
Xavier sighed. "There are too many wild cards in this world now. With so many superpowered beings appearing… I fear the day when mutants and other superhumans rule Earth isn't far off."
