At that moment in New York, at the foot of the Baxter Building, a young woman in a black body-con skirt was standing by the curb. Black high heels set off her curvy, voluptuous figure—she was a striking sight on the street.
Just then, a Bugatti La Voiture Noire rolled up from the distance and eased to a stop right in front of her.
It was Maguire, who'd rushed over from home.
Invisible Woman Susan glanced haughtily at the luxury car in front of her.
"What's wrong—aren't you getting in? Not hungry? If you're not hungry, I'm leaving."
Hearing that, Susan glared at Maguire in the driver's seat.
"That's your attitude? You're bullying me."
As she spoke, her eyes went red. She felt miserably wronged.
She'd muddle-headedly given her body to the jerk in front of her, and he hadn't contacted her for so long. She'd finally worked up the courage, as a girl, to call him and ask him to have dinner—the hint couldn't have been more obvious.
And this bad guy still talked to her like that? Hmph!
Thinking of this, Susan's tears spilled over.
Did I push the joke too far? Why is this girl crying?
Maguire hurriedly said to her, "Okay, my attitude was bad. I'm sorry, all right? Come on—I'll take you to something good."
Only then did the grievance in Susan's chest start to ease.
"Hmph."
Her face was full of pride as she said it.
Ever since last time, when Mr. Fantastic discovered what was going on between Susan and Maguire, he hadn't said a single word to her.
So right now Susan had no idea that the Maguire in front of her was also a superpowered person.
And in her eyes, the fact that Maguire had gotten her first time ought to make him proud.
Maguire looked helplessly at Susan outside the car. "Are we going to eat or not? Can we hurry up, oh great Invisible Woman Susan?"
Hearing that, a smile tugged at Susan's lips, and she got into Maguire's car.
"Let's go. I want Chinese food today—but not that same place."
"Sure. Whatever you say."
Before long, the two of them arrived at a Chinese restaurant.
Maguire started ordering.
As he was ordering, Susan quickly cut in to speak up from across the table.
Maguire couldn't help laughing. "Alright, alright—everything's up to you, you little housekeeper."
At that, a blush crept over Susan's face.
"Don't talk nonsense. Who's your little housekeeper? I haven't agreed to be your girlfriend."
But her eyes had already betrayed her thoughts.
Looking at the adorable Susan in front of him, Maguire couldn't help thinking:
She's really not bad. And her personality isn't like the usual girls from the big, pretty country—she's a bit more like a girl from China.
He had to admit he was a little moved by her.
Noticing Maguire gazing at her so gently, Susan blushed again and lowered her head, letting out a soft, shy hum.
"What are you staring at? Don't you recognize me?"
Maguire chuckled. "You look especially beautiful today. Honestly, I really like you."
Happiness bloomed in Susan's heart, but at the same time she raised the bar for him.
"I won't agree to be your girlfriend so easily!"
The next second she put on a serious face and looked at him. "What's it to me that you like me? Let me tell you—men chasing after Miss Me line up from New York all the way to Paris."
Maguire, however, answered her seriously.
Hearing that, Susan's face reddened again.
"Shameless. So if you say I'm your girlfriend, that makes me your girlfriend? Honestly…"
Maguire just smiled and said nothing.
They soon finished their meal.
When they walked out of the restaurant, Susan lowered her head and stayed silent.
"I'll take you home," Maguire said. "Where do you live?"
"I don't need you to take me home."
Maguire walked straight to his car. "Are you getting in or not? Come on!"
Susan huffed, but still got into the car.
Maguire drove toward the place Susan had given him.
"What are you New York superheroes busy with every day? Catching pickpockets?"
"I haven't agreed yet!" she shot back. Then the shyness from before vanished, and pride returned to Susan's face. "We superheroes are superheroes, not the FBI. Our opponents are all kinds of monsters."
"Very powerful monsters. You know?"
"I know."
"You have no idea how powerful and terrifying those monsters are!"
Maguire snickered.
Seeing him ask, Susan's face lit up with delight. "Hmph, so now you know I'm a superhero, huh? Let me tell you about those powerful monsters."
"You know the Green Goblin Osborn, and that terrifying army of lizardmen, right?"
Maguire nodded.
"And that huge green monster?"
He nodded again.
"Then you must know the metal man from a few days ago."
Maguire nodded once more.
"I know them all."
