With every question she answered, it led to her asking more and more questions, and she asked her father.
"What is that mirror, and the tapestry?" The mirror image then began to laugh loudly in the background.
"I have no idea, it belonged to your mom, and she would have some alone time around it, she had boundaries, and I understood that and hence did not pry, I also hid a lot from her, she probably had my best interest in mind, seeing what that tapestry just did to me," Jack replied holding on to his hand.
Left with no better option, she decided to cover the mirror with the tapestry, and it did not harm her, like it did to Jack.
"This is probably for the best," she said, covering the tapestry, but then it whispered.
"You can continue to run from it, but it's who you really are, A Starweaver, with blood even purer than your mothers, but with a body strong enough to destroy the balance." Serena could not just shake off the words she heard, but at the moment had no leads, had no idea how to uncover this mystery.
"Have you seen your new room? I just had it constructed."
"It's beautiful, and about the armor?"
"I'm going to train you in the way of the sword, it's essential, old vampires who've had centuries to hone their swordsmanship would be after you, your superior genes won't be enough."
"We can begin any day you're ready, but I wanted to let you know, the earlier we begin, the safer you are."
She felt drained from everything and just wanted to rest. That was when Seraphina returned and called loudly for her sister.
Serena quickly ascended the stairs and made it to her sisters' whereabouts, the living room. What she saw shocked her more than anything. Seraphina was in a state more miserable than Serena had ever seen her in for the entire time they knew each other.
Her eyes were puffy and red, underneath them lay huge dark circles, her skin was pale, her whole body was shriveled up, and her hair was disheveled.
"What happened?" Serena asked, her voice laced with worry,
"A man with raven wings, pitch black eyes." Before Seraphina could finish, Serena asked
"Did you attack anyone on the school campus?''
"I was in a fight with Violet; she made a move on me first, but I was able to very easily subdue her, even without my hair and eyes changing color. I had to play it low-key key"
"And just then she multiplied into several copies of herself."
"How did you know?"
"Because I was attacked by her, and I had to fight back, involuntarily, my skin, hair, and eyes turned yellow, then the very man you're talking about, surrounded in black mist, told me he would spare me if I promised not to attack in his territory again."
"He probably mistook me for you."
"Exactly"
"That sly old fox," Jack said in a barely hushed tone. Drawing the girls' attention
"Do you know him?" the girls asked. Jack, full of rage, said
"Taught him everything he knows, and now he's bullying my daughters, I guess I'd have to give him a refresher lesson." Then Jack walked out of the house, leaving Serena and Seraphina all on their own."
Then Seraphina looked at her phone, and this time the message said,
"You're lucky, your sister might be able to save you," and they had no idea what it meant. This was the first time English words felt so cryptic to Serena. How was she tangled up in all this? But now it was much too late to start looking for a way out, and she had already decided to follow the current. Pulling her out of her trance, Seraphina said
"I'm going to take a shower."
Then Seraphina walked into her room and entered the tub, soaking in roses and beauty soap. After her long shower, her skin regained its rosy color. She tied her hair in a sleek ponytail, and unlike usual, she dressed casually, in a white button-up top and black bell-bottoms.
After dressing up, she went to the hall, and there she saw the lights begin to flicker. Serena said
"Help me," then the lights went out, and when the lights returned, Serena was gone.
Seraphina, not knowing how to make heads or tails of the situation, went to the last location she saw Serena, then her phone made a sound, and when she checked it, what she saw explained it all.
"Your sister has ruined you, made you vulnerable. Now, if you want her to remain alive, I suggest you come to me, without your dad, and make sure he has no clue you might be in danger. If he appears, your sister dies."
After reading that message, Seraphina felt like she had aged several times, her sister who had not a clue how to use her power was taken by Vampires, at her weakest when she could be easily neutralized before she became a threat, and if she went, they might surround her and neutralize the even more formidable threat, she was in a corner where every direction spelt disadvantage. Then another message popped up.
"Meet me at the Vampire settlement, the Second Castle, say you want to go to the underground floor, for hunted reasons. Quickly, if you still want your sister to continue living." At the moment, she decided to do the most logical thing to her at least, and went to the basement, ignoring the tapestry. She went towards a glowing vortex punched in the coordinates and was transported to the Vampire settlement.
Where no light reached, yet Vampires could see as clear as day, the eight towering castles in the central part of the vampire settlement, with pitch black sturdy walls and bold red roofs,
Every vampire on the streets wore black cloaks, and in order not to stand out, she bought one from a passing vendor and donned it.
With eyes more serious than ever, she made up her mind and decided to save her sister even if it came down to losing her life in exchange.
