Chapter 11 - Shock

After dinner, Consuela returned to her study desk, planning to read the extracurricular books to help broaden her vision.
Meanwhile, her mother, Kim, dialled up her husband's phone number and talked to him for a while before she hung up. There was a hidden sadness and longing on her face from not having seen her husband for months.
However, much like herself, her husband was doing his best to earn a lot and save for Consuela's future education expenses.
Seeing her mother's unshed tears hanging by the eyelids, Consuela kept quietly standing for a bit before she went back and fetched a glass of water, and offered it to her mother as she spoke,
"Mom, I will study hard. Please tell Father not to overdo it. I won't let you two down."
Kim felt her heart softening as she patted her daughter's small head and muttered softly,
"Thank you... my child..."
Unable to hold back the rush of emotions, Consuela's mother went down and pulled her daughter into her arms as she kept on patting her hair.

On the other side, Lisa had a hearty dinner with her aunt, uncle, and cousin, while her father, Matt, had called earlier to inform her aunt about his overtime again. Since Lisa's mom wouldn't be back for a while, Lisa resolved to sleep by herself without seeing her parents yet again. Not that her parents ever brought her into their room to sleep anyway.
Actually, according to the memories, Lisa's mother kept sticking close to her father, almost like putty, and monopolised her father's entire time off work for herself. Also, her father loved all the attention from his wife, leaving Lisa no other option but to grow independent quickly.
And the former Lisa didn't want to be a burden on her Uncle's family. Even if they never complained about it, she still had her reservations. Not to mention the current Lisa, who was adamant on letting the young couple enjoy their newly married nights together.
Besides, it gave her the perfect opportunity to game till sleep!
Before she got to that for the night, though, Lisa chose to consume the two pills gained as the System Task rewards. Feeling a delightful sensation of empowerment through her body, Lisa let out a sigh of relief, not because of the newfound strength in her body, but because the pill wasn't as bitter as she had thought before.
'Well, they could be useful for maintaining top-tier health conditions, so maybe they aren't all that bad.'
Putting away the little event from her mind, Lisa's eyes sparkled with anticipation as she grabbed her GBA SP, aiming to achieve a higher score than last time.

When Lisa woke up at night to go to the toilet, she found someone sneaking towards her parents' bedroom.
Afraid that a thief had broken into their house, she grabbed a small yet sturdy stick from the living room and silently observed the figure shuffling around in the dark room after entering it.
When the lights were turned on at last, Lisa was somewhat surprised to discover a super beauty sensually taking off her clothes, with her mature and alluring undergarments slowly coming into plain view, making Lisa hold back the sudden urge of a nosebleed.
The woman's hair was dark red in color, just like Lisa herself. Her slim frame as she changed into a nightgown looked strongly bewitching. Her amber colored eyes held a coldness that forced people to keep their distance, yet her proud and aloof nature made others revere her as a goddess instead.
After observing the lady closely and internally guessing why a devastating mature beauty would do a strip tease show in her parents' bedroom, Lisa's mind began to recover from the crash as she recognised the figure standing in front of her.
'Hold on a minute here. That ain't no smokin hot chick relieving her dark urges within my house, rather... that's my Mother of this lifetime! But... what the hell is my Father doing here?? Lying there sleepily, is the bed so comfortable? Or, did he exhaust himself to sleep at work?? No, he was going to work overtime, so what the heck is he doing here now? Did Mom bring him back?'
As Lisa saw her mother's naughty hands getting frisky and about to reveal her father's body instead, goosebumps rose all over Lisa's body as she quickly called out,
"M-Mom?? Are you home?"
The Beauty in action froze for a second before she pulled her hands out of her husband's pajamas and clicked her tongue in annoyance as she went on to twist the bedsheet for revenge, yet still took deep breaths not to explode on her little daughter for ruining the couple's special time together.
After a few seconds, the beauty turned to face Lisa, and a very strained and ugly smile came upon her beautiful face as she spoke,
"Lisa? Why are you still awake, baby? Had a nightmare? Or, did you soil your underwear? Now, quickly go back to sleep. Go to your room and sleep quickly. Only naughty children stay up at night. You don't want to be called a bad girl, right? You must have school tomorrow as well. Let your exhausted Father and me rest for a while, too. Goodnight, baby."
Looking at her new mother's smile, which looked uglier than crying, Lisa suppressed the sudden chills from erupting over her skin as she asked again,
"But, Father told us... He called and told us that he would be working late again. Doing overtime again at work. Also... he said that you were busy with work too."
