CHAPTER 10
It was 6:54 when Ariel arrive home.she walked up the stairs of the little apartment she and her best friend Joe could afford
It was Abit messy but it was alright.
It still gave a homely vibe.
She toss her bag on the couch upon her arrival and headed toward the kitchen.
"Is that you Ariel?"a man's voice called from the kitchen
"What ain't you done with dinner yet?" She asked instead of answering him
He turned to take a look at her only to shake his head in pity
"You look terrible"he stated "am guessing your day didn't go so well?"
"Noo!"she said in a low voice as she entered the kitchen and went to stand beside him
"What happened?"he asked with a hand on his torso.
"Well ,where should I begin?"she exhale in a childish manner"I ended up meeting the same asshole who got me fired at the same firm I was planning to work in "
"You mean that Alexander place you kept going on about?"
"Yep!"
"He works there?"
"That's what I also thought.... but it turns out he actually owns the place "
Joe's eyes wilden at that.he stood upright
"Don't tell me!"
"Yep!..... that spoiled asshole was actually the Nickeal Alexander " she chided
Joe's jaw dropped...hard
"Fuck!!"
"I know "
"So like... what happened?,did he say anything to you?"he asked curiosity filled in his tone
"I don't wanna talk about it " she said as she she turned to leave when he grabbed her
"Don't you dare do that to me ....common now"
Ariel looked at him for a moment before exhaling.
"He asked me to be his girlfriend"
In immediate frown formed on his face
"What?.... your kidding right?" He asked disbelief evidence in his tone u
She gave him a look which said'do I look like am kidding? '
Joe slowing pulled her back to stand opposite him
"What happened?" It was a simple question but it carried so much weight
" When I got to the office...."she began

When Ariel told him everything he was completely speechless.
He stared at her for a moment before asking
" And you didn't think of calling the police why?"he asked his tone graven
"Well I wasn't exactly innocent either,I mean I insulted the man in his property..I don't think the police would find that favourable "she said indirectly repeating what Nickeal said earlier"and don't you think that I'll be having sex with him or anything of the sort . just a plain contract we both agreed on. no benefits "
"And you're sure of that?"
She laughed at how his eyes were accusing her
"Yes!.."
Joe finally settled but he didn't look interly relaxed
" But why? I mean from what you've told me he clearly hates you so why the sudden change of mind?"
"No idea "
Joe brow frowned trying to think
"Do you maybe think he likes you?"he suddenly asked causing her to raise a brow
"No way .... he's probably just putting together some stupid plan to torture me"
Joe nodded in agreement
"that makes sense .... so when do you start?"
"Tomorrow"
"Hmm.. just be careful alright?"
"Sure daddy "
"I wish I was sweat heart..I wish I was"
She smiled and turned to leave
" I need a cold shower"
Joe watch her back until she disappear
His heart heavy
He didn't like this , not one bit .but he couldn't do anything about it either
He exhale and turned to the food.

...IN COUNTRY A
Nancy couldn't sleep as she continued to toss endlessly on the bed .
It was 12:32 in the middle of the night yet Simon wasn't in the room.
She has tried to fall asleep but she couldn't stop herself from worrying.
With much contapulation she finally decided to check on him.
With light movement,she got of the bed and headed to the living room. But to her disappointment ,he wasn't there .so she decided to check the study .
.....the door slowly creek open,she steped in.
The lights were on,and thank goodness he was there .
But instead of working he was fast asleep his hands folded on the desk with his head resting on them.
She smiled seeing such a sight.but then she wondered; is this really how he would continue? For once can't he just come on his own without her being the one to go after him?
She shut her eyes distress,then exhale
She's really getting tired of it all.
Two years ago they both forced into this marriage,they have tried to get rid of it but nothing worked ,and now,.....now she's ready to make it work.she is ready to live with this man .she is ready to love him entirely so why isn't he giving her a chance?
She signed helplessly before finally walking toward him
Standing beside him she bent a little only to admire the view for a while longer.
A light smile appeared on her face
She really wanted to reach out, touch his face this once but she had to hold back.
And as though her thoughts could be heard he suddenly open his eyes.
Her heart brutally skipped as she instantly stood up.
His eyes followed her while he also sat up.
Nancy eyes were wild open as though she has been caught doing something she shouldn't have.
"Um... actually....it ..it was late,so I thought to come.. check on you" she stamard
His eyes were still stearing with an unreadable expression on his face.
She didn't know what else to do,was he really not sleeping in the first place??
Simon shut tight his eyes, opening them he looked the other way.
"Am sorry" he apologize, his hand at the bridge of his nose " I didn't realize when I fell asleep"
She do say anything, just standing there with her teeth destroying the inside of her lower lip.
"I'll leave now" she said and quickly made her way out.her cheeks red in embarrassment wondering if he actually saw her staring.
Simon continue to stare until she finally exited the room.
He signed quietly before he stood up and headed as well.
..... he got to the room, where Nancy seems to be fast asleep already.
It clear that she's faking it, but it better to ignore than address it.
He went quietly and laid on his side of the bed with his back facing her.
This has been how there have been living for the past two years.
So close yet so far from one another.
Nancy slowly opened her eyes, only staring at his back.
She seemed to be lying wrongly today as they usually back each other.
A little smile appeared on her face, she actually had the urge to touch him at that moment but held back and just laid there
.....after so many hours of restlessness, she finally fell asleep.
