Chapter 4
Harry had used a pensieve to extract copies of all of his memories of every single SG-1 episode. He used Alteran technology to sort through the events and give himself instant recall access to that database of memories. He had debated if he should interfere in the events of the episode Prisoners in what would have been the third episode of the second season. Ultimately Linea's later actions de-aging an entire planet who eventually recovered their memories didn't seem to be a bad thing. Sam was able to contact Harry on the communication feature of her bracelet she was now aware of. The race that had placed SG-1 in the prison had not been able to detect the bracelet.
Harry showed up in the Marauder over the planet where Sam was imprisoned. He freed all of the prisoners and put those who had imprisoned SG-1 in that very same prison.
The events of the episode The Gamekeeper went quite different than Harry's memories. The Gamekeeper's technology could not penetrate Sam's bracelet defenses. She was able to get her teammates released by threatening to shoot the gamekeeper.
July 31st, 1998, Cimmeria
This had been a mission that Harry had wanted to go on. He had kept SG-1 from harm and helped them figure out how to contact the Asgard much quicker than in canon. When Jack got beamed up it was quickly followed by Thor himself beaming down.
"Those two are the Alterans," Jack said while pointing to Harry and Hermione.
Thor looked at Harry and Hermione with eyes shimmering with hope and happiness, or as much as one could detect from the Asgard's current form.
"Greetings," Thor said in Alteran.
"Greetings in return," Harry replied in the same language. "You look very different to how our race remembers you."
"It has been a long time since our kind have encountered one another. Much has happened. I did not think I would ever see a living Alteran," Thor said.
Harry said, "We should take this conversation somewhere more private." In English he said to SG-1, "Thor and I have to go have a conversation. We will see you back on Earth."
With that Harry, Hermione, and Thor were transported to the phase-cloaked Marauder in orbit. They arrived in a conference room that currently had a view of the planet below.
"Can you tell me what happened to your people after we last parted? Our histories tell us that the Alterans reseeded life in the Milky Way after the plague before departing in Atlantis. We do not know where you went or where you've been for more than five million years," Thor said.
"We went to the Pegasus galaxy. There a humanoid creature evolved sentience from a local large insect called the Eratus Bug and an Alteran that it fed upon," Harry explained as he holographically projected the Eratus Bug and Wraith onto the screen. "We call them Wraith. Biologically they are immortal and can be very hard to kill. They absorb life energy out of humans to feed. My ancestors in their arrogance did not realize the threat until it was too late. They lost a war that lasted around a century with the wraith. While they were technologically superior to the wraith my ancestors lacked the tactics needed to win the war. Ultimately Atlantis was the only outpost left. They sunk it to the floor of the ocean on the planet Lantea in Pegasus under shields and returned to the Milky Way. In the short time before they ascended they interbred with the locals. There is a colony of my people here who does not know of their Alteran origins. My wife Hermione and I discovered the truth and have reclaimed our heritage," Harry explained.
"My husband is being modest. It was he who discovered our heritage and taught me," Hermione said. "Tell us Thor, what has befallen your people? Not only is your appearance different, but these Goa'uld are technologically inferior to what you once were let alone what you must have developed since we last met."
"My people have made mistakes as well. We recovered a portion of one of the Alteran databases left behind. We have only studied a small portion. But in our eagerness to continue studying it we sought a way to extend our lives through cloning. We found the section of the database for cloning. But our ability to fully comprehend how to adapt it to Asgardian physiology from Alteran was not what we would have wished. Furthermore, the database did not speak of what would happen with prolonged cloning. We are copies of a copy," Thor explained. Harry and Hermione winced as they understood the issue. Already Hermione began using the neural link they shared with the Marauder to look up the cloning research in the updated database the starship carried. "We too have encountered a fearsome foe. We call them replicators," Thor said as he used a jewel device in his hand to project a replicator. "We are in a war with them we are losing. They seek out and assimilate more advanced technology."
"Much research has been done by our people into cloning since we last met," Hermione said. "We will try to aid you. Of the two of us I am the one more interested in the biological sciences."
"My ancestors on Atlantis experimented with nanite based artificial lifeforms very similar to the sounds of these replicators. I will attempt to aid you in this matter," Harry said.
"Thank you," Thor said with immense relief. "Thank you from my people."
Harry and Hermione simply nodded before they talked a little more about the particulars. The Marauder received data from Thor's ship about the particulars of the cloning degradation and replicator threat. If nothing else Harry and Hermione knew they could use the time drive on the Marauder to go back and obtain a clone of the Asgard from before they began the whole cloning fiasco. Likewise, they could go back to the start of the replicator threat and see exactly how they were made.
Naturally the SGC was very curious about the meeting with Thor. Harry and Hermione gave an abbreviated history of the Great Races Alliance (GRA). It was explained that the Alterans had been out of touch with the other GRA members. When asked how long they had been out of touch the answer of about five million ten thousand years had boggled some minds.
In the end the SGC had realized that the particulars of the interactions of the two races was none of their business. They did continue on with their business of exploring.
Samantha Carter's Lab
"Good. I would say you fully understand how the Goa'uld version of a hyperdrive works," Harry said.
"Thanks to you," Sam said. "This holographic scanner you loaned me really helps," She said as she held up the small device about the size of a brick.
The scanner could scan most object and project a 3D projection of the scanned device which could be disassembled.
"I said I would facilitate your studying of the technology. You just have to figure out how to make it now," Harry said.
Harry had considered teaching Sam Alteran science. But he wasn't quite at that point in their relationship yet. He also thought things would become super boring around the SGC and Earth if he just gave them ways to upgrade their technology. He was already pushing it by giving them the two Hatak that he had.
"I have ideas," Sam said. "Let's hear them," Harry invited.
Pegasus Galaxy, Planet Asuras
The stargate on the planet Asuras activated. Immediately the gate-shield went up. A signal came through. The Asuran systems recognized the signal as having belonged to their creators the Lanteans. The gate-shield fell. Amanda walked through. Amanda didn't look like the actress Amanda Tapping or Samantha Carter in this universe any longer. Harry was no longer using Amanda for physical relief. But he still felt it would be disrespectful to his new girlfriend if Amanda ever met Sam and retained Sam's form. As such, he had asked Amanda to change her form. He had debated many forms such as Pepper Potts since she was to act like his assistant. He had also considered other actresses that were favorites of his in his past life such as Alexandra Daddario. But he would be too tempted to screw his HFR assistant if she took on one of those forms. He had also considered a male form so it would remove that temptation. But that would have been even weirder. In the end Harry had decided on the form of Bellatrix Lestrange. He felt it amusing to have the form of the Death Eater serve as his personal assistant. She wasn't hideous. But at the current age she appeared to be she also wasn't stunningly beautiful. Amanda had also taken on the nickname Bella.
"Who are you?" Rian, a gate room technician, asked as he stepped around his console when Bella walked towards him with a purpose.
"Your superior," Bella said as she reached the distance with Rian where she could stick her hand into his head.
Immediately Bella began updating the code of all Asuran replicators on the planet Asuras. Janus had been lead scientist on Atlantis during the war. He had overseen the team that had worked on the Asuran replicators. He had not been overly involved in their development. But he had taken an interest in improving their design after they had undergone heavy testing. The high council had ultimately ordered the experiment ended. But Janus had continued to tinker with the code. Amanda was a product of that tinkering. While Amanda/Bella was fully sentient, her greatest desire was to serve her master. She saw nothing wrong with her subservience. She had none of the aggression code that the Asurans were plagued with. Janus had tweaked the aggression code installing a software switch to be able to turn on and off the aggression code. Harry made himself and his two lovers able to directly command the Asurans. They could not harm a humanoid lifeform that wasn't a wraith without a direct command from Harry, Hermione, or Sam. Sam wouldn't be made aware of this for some time.
It only took moments for the entire Asuran network to be updated. Bella then sent the signal that it was safe to come through. Harry and Hermione stepped through the gate.
"Report," Harry said.
"Everything went according to plan," Bella said. "I am even now gaining access to the high council records. The Asurans have been busy. They currently have stockpiled in storage 1,500 potentia. This is not including what is in their ships. They have sixty city-chips on Asuras. They have a fleet of five hundred Alteran cruisers modeled after the Atlantean design in the last war sitting in orbit of various moons in the system."
"Outstanding," Harry said. "I think it's time we go on a tour." "Of course. This way high councilors," Bella said. "I like the sound of that," Hermione said with a grin.
Harry had decided the best way to combat the replicators was with more advanced replicators. The anti-replicator or ARG (Anti-Replicator Gun) that O'Neill had pulled out of the archive in canon was definitely effective. But it wasn't as satisfying as some replicator-on-replicator violence. It was fortunate for Harry that he knew of a great resource of highly advanced replicators due to his knowledge of the canon fiction from his first life. A little investigation in this universe confirmed that the planet Asuras did exist. It also had a fully developed Asuran replicator culture. This was a culture that Harry now had full command of. There were so many wasted opportunities in the Stargate universe. Harry planned to take advantage of many of them.
Ida Galaxy, Hiaxia System
The Marauder came out of hyperspace to find five Asgard ships facing off against two replicator controlled Asgard ships along with a single purely replicator ship constructed of replicator blocks. Immediately out of hyperspace behind the Marauder appeared three Asuran battlecruisers.
"Harry," Thor greeted as his hologram came onto the screen. "The replicators will come after your superior technology," Thor warned even as the replicator ships broke off their attack on the Asgard world of Hiaxia Prime and set course for the four new arrivals.
"I'm aware. My companions the Asurans will take care of it. Perhaps you'd like to transport over and enjoy the show?"
Harry sent Thor the equivalent of a password through his shields. A few moments later Thor arrived on the bridge.
"Hello Thor," Hermione greeted. "Greetings, Hermione," Thor said as they turned to watch the battle on holo-feed.
The Asurans quickly engaged the replicator ships. The replicators tried launching boarding projectiles against the Asurans. The Asurans let them.
"The Asurans are a nanite-version of the replicators our people experimented with while in Pegasus in an attempt to combat the wraith," Hermione explained.
"I see," Thor said.
Soon Thor really did see the benefit of the Asurans. Swiftly the battle was over. The Asurans had fought the replicators and rendered the less advanced robots into their base materials.
"It's done. The two Asgard ships are yours once more. The replicator ship is now an inert block of base materials. An Asuran team infiltrated the ship," Harry reported.
"How many Asurans can you spare?" Thor asked hopefully.
"Enough to make sure the replicators will not enter Asgard space again. Right now, the rest of the Asurans are preparing to help deal with the wraith. But we can at least prevent them from making incursions into your space," Harry answered.
"Thank you," Thor said. "My people are in your debt." They spoke of logistics for some time.
Harry's Lab, A Neighboring Universe
"Update me on the status of our projects Merlin," Harry said as he arrived in his lab through the quantum portal.
The quantum mirror from canon Stargate was another version of the same technology as the quantum portal. The controls on Harry's quantum portal were a little easier to work. They could easily remember realities to go to. The portal would also only activate for Harry, Hermione, or Sam. Of course, Sam didn't know about Harry's hidden labs yet. This lab in a neighboring reality was one of several he maintained for experiments that were either too dangerous to keep in his own universe or which he didn't want the Others spying on. There were HFR-Merlins in each lab (Human Form Replicators).
"I have just completed construction of the AAR," Merlin reported. The AAR stood for Artificial Ascended Realm. It was a pocket dimension which had the same properties as the plane of existence the ascended Alterans and Ori lived on."
"And the exotic matter harvesting?" Harry asked.
"It is scheduled to be completed in thirty-three Earth hours," Merlin reported. "That's great news," Harry said.
In order to create the sangraal weapon to kill the Ori, Merlin had undertaken a lot of research. He researched more about the nature of what ascended beings were in order to figure out how to kill them. He had also researched more about the ascended realm in order to figure out how to propagate the attack through the Ori galaxy and localize it to the Ori galaxy. This wealth of research was something Harry wanted to put to good use.
Some questioning of HFR-Merlin had revealed how the ascended spent most of their time. The ascended spent most of their existence looking into divergent realities. They looked at every possibility of a decision and every possible future. Given there was an infinite amount of these even an ascended could not retain it all. Sometimes the ascended would even progress beyond mentally exploring with their senses and experience an alternate reality. It was a very entertaining way to spend your time.
Harry had no wish to fully ascend and shed his physical body. He didn't want to give up the pleasures of the flesh. That being said, he would like to explore some of the benefits of being ascended. The ascended currently lived in 11-dimensional space. Or rather they could perceive and interact with eleven dimensions of their universe. The universe Harry was inhabiting was currently made up of 15 dimensions. The Alterans had discovered all of this before they had decided to ascend in mass after the fall of Atlantis. Members of their species that had become exceptionally skilled and powerful in vacuum energy manipulation had been ascending for some time in the millennia before the fall of Atlantis. But it was only after the fall of Atlantis to the wraith that those already ascended agreed to help any Lantean who wanted to ascend.
Ascending on one's own would result in an ascended who had more skill manipulating vacuum energy once ascended. Being helped to ascension resulted in a less skilled ascended. Before MA (Mass Ascension of the Lanteans) some small experiments had been done to interact with the higher dimensions. This had involved creating very basic sensors out of different types of exotic matter and sending them into the higher dimensions for a limited time. When the matter returned it was studied. This was considered cutting edge research around the time of the MA. After MA, the Alterans had been tired of everything and had retreated into the realm of exploring other universes and divergent timelines. They had not innovated at that point. They were just so very tired as a species of it all.
The non-interference agreements (NIA's) were set down by the majority of the ascended. Not everyone agreed with the NIA's. But enough did that it was enforced. Even the older ascended who had been ascended long before the MA were held to the NIA's (something that the older ascended were pretty pissed about). Harry learned some really interesting things about ascended life from Merlin. It turned out politics existed even on high planes of existence.
Janus had been particularly interested in innovating even in the higher dimension. It was one of the many things he spent time theorizing and thinking about. He had even developed an experimentation protocol that he had been working on at the time of the fall. He had not been
able to implement it before ascension. After ascension, Janus had been one of the Alterans the Others had watched the most. He never would have been able to implement his experiments after ascension. The Others would not have approved of his tinkering around with the realm they lived in.
Harry had no such restrictions. He had assigned HFR Merlin to begin the experimentation protocols in another universe divergent enough from their own that there were no ascended here. Harry's goal was to develop a nanite system made of exotic matter which could exist in the higher dimensions. His reasoning was this. Ascension was a natural process once a vacuum energy user grew powerful enough. It had been shown time and time again that something artificial could do a task far better than something natural. It was the old man versus machine argument. A purpose-built machine could outperform even a skilled person in a task. When Harry was a young man in his home universe he remembered watching the YouTuber Mark Rober building robots or machines to frequently outperform the most skilled human at a task. That was what Harry wanted to do here.
Merlin explained that as an ascended reached out with their vacuum energy senses and perceived the universe around them along with neighboring universes their power and knowledge grew and grew. If they let it grow too much it became physically painful. Their power and knowledge threatened to destroy their very essence. So, the ascended had to pull back. This showed that the ascended form was a natural organism, much like a body. The organism could only retain so much power and knowledge before it gave out. What Harry wanted to do was build nanite augmentations to his essence. He wanted it so that he could learn things and gain power in the ascended realm. His expanded memory would absorb this knowledge. His expanded essence would absorb and channel the power. It would be his mortal mind and essence which would connect with these ascended realm augmentations. But his mind and body would only access the ascended knowledge and power as needed. Merlin's AI had confirmed that the concept was sound. They were calling the technology an Augmentation Cloak (AugC) because Harry likened it to a cloak he would drape on his essence which would enhance him. In truth it wasn't even going to be physically perceivable by your average being constrained to 4-dimensional spacetime. Those with higher dimensional powers would perceive its power. Depending how many of the higher dimensions they could access they would perceive more or less of the AugC.
Merlin had informed Harry that based on his projections of the technology, Harry would have to have a certain level of skill and power to use the AugC without burning himself out. Merlin had given Harry exercises to use to strengthen his essence to the point just before he would be able to ascend on his own. This should allow him to control the AugC. Merlin was harvesting different forms of exotic energy with which to experiment on constructing Janus' nanite system.
"Keep me updated. I'm going to go check on some of my other experiments," Harry said before stepping through the quantum portal to another lab in another universe.
Planet Hebridan
"When you said you wanted to take me on another date, I didn't quite expect this," Sam said as she walked out of an alley on the planet Hebridan.
"I thought you might enjoy seeing one of the few advanced human cultures in the galaxy," Harry said. "The restaurant is this way."
"What is the other species called?" Sam asked quietly.
"You don't need to worry about being overheard. There is a Notice-Me-Not charm on us. Even though the clothing I gave you will let us blend in I thought it best not to be observed," Harry explained. "They are called Serrakin. They liberated the humans from the Goa'uld."
"Table for two under Potter," Harry told the attendant at the front door after dropping the Notice- Me-Not.
"Right this way," Sechel, a waiter, said as he was signaled by the attendant.
Harry helped Sam navigate ordering. After the waiter took their order Sam couldn't help but look around.
"So why bring me here?" Sam asked. "Really. You wanted me to see something."
"You know me too well already," Harry said. "The Hebridians are very currency driven. One of the services they are exceptionally good at is manufacturing, advanced manufacturing."
Sam's eyes widened as she caught on and she said, "You mean...they could manufacture the ship designs we just came up with?"
"You mean that you came up with. I just loaned you the use of my holographic design tech. You did all of the design work. And to answer your question, yes. They will for a price," Harry said.
"You held my hand through the whole design process designing a ship that will go toe to toe with a Goa'uld Hatak and stand a good chance of winning. Now you're telling me these people could build our design for...," Sam trailed off.
"I estimate they'd probably do it for a billion US dollars per ship," Harry said causing Sam to wince. "Converted into the appropriate rare materials of course."
"We'd have to get other countries in on the knowledge of the Stargate to foot that kind of bill. There's no way we can sneak that through black project funds. But still, it gives us options. Harry if I wasn't already planning on screwing your brains out tonight...this would definitely make me want to," Sam said as she took his hand. "Can I have the gate address for this place?"
"Of course," Harry said. "It's already on your laptop."
Harry had gifted Sam a laptop she could use for personal and work use. It was beyond anything Earth could hope to have naturally in the next few thousand years. The two shared a very good meal together before walking around Hebridan for a while exploring. Later Sam did what she said and blew Harry's mind.
Planet Abydos Harry transported down to a tent on the planet Abydos where SG-1 was at. "What is it?" Harry asked. "You said it was urgent," He said as he looked around for threats.
All SG team members had been given subspace communicators which connected to a subspace relay on Earth. Through this method they could text or email anyone on Earth. Harry had received a text asking him to come quickly to Abydos.
"It's Sha're Jackson, Daniel's wife. She is here. She is nine months pregnant with Apophis' child. The Goa'uld Amonet is hibernating. If it comes forward the child will die. Sha're said the child is a Harsesis, a human possessing all the genetic knowledge of the Goa'uld. Apparently Goa'uld queens can choose a select knowledge set that their offspring get. A Harsesis would have all of the knowledge the Goa'uld possess, even knowledge consciously denied to offspring by a queen. Is there something you can do to help Sha're?"
Teal'c was standing nearby. Jack was back on Earth dealing with other matters.
"I can try to remove the Goa'uld," Harry said thoughtfully. "If that doesn't work I can put her in stasis until we can figure out a way to safely remove it."
"Have you ever attempted this before?" Teal'c asked.
"I have not," Harry said.
"It's worth a shot," Sam said.
They went into the tent where Daniel and Sha're were quietly conversing. The couple looked up at their entrance.
"Thank you for coming Harry. Is there something you can do to help?" Daniel asked.
"I can try," Harry said. "Sha're, my name is Harry Potter. I need you to lie down and meet my eyes. This is not going to feel pleasant. There will be pain."
"I am ready for it," Sha're said. "It is nothing to the pain the monster inside me has caused."
Bella was currently cloaked standing beside Harry prepared to intervene. Harry met Sha're's gaze and telepathically attacked the Goa'uld. Harry sensed Amonet trying to wake up from the coma it had put itself in. He didn't give it time. He was vaguely aware of Sha're moaning in pain. Harry forced the semiconscious symbiote to leave Sha're. The moment the symbiote left the Abydonian woman forcefully out of her mouth it came awake. It had launched itself at Harry. Bella's hand appeared out of nowhere and intercepted the symbiote a foot from Harry's face. Bella had transformed her right index finger into a long thin blade and skewered the symbiote. It writhed as it died. The symbiote fell to the ground dead a moment later.
"What was that?" Daniel asked as he looked where Bella had appeared.
"My bodyguard," Harry said as he channeled healing energy into Sha're's throat and head. "Rest Sha're. You will need your rest."
"Thank you," Daniel said. "Thank you so much."
"You're welcome. I suggest we look into relocating the Abydonians to a greener world that can support them and the Goa'uld don't know about," Harry said. "Apophis will not be pleased with them."
"Got any worlds in mind?" Daniel asked.
"There are many. My people left terraforming ships working on the planets in this galaxy which were close enough to habitable to be terraformed the last time we lived in this region of space. There are many worlds which have become habitable since then. I'll put together a list we can move them to. I'll move the gate and make sure the Goa'uld don't detect it being added to the network," Harry offered.
"Thank you," Daniel said. "I will speak to Kasuf."
Earth, A Few Hours Later
After seeing the Abydonians settled onto a new world Daniel had chosen to stay there for a week or so. Harry had been busy with that effort. Sam had decided to come home to check on the kids. She knew they would be fine with Hermione. But she wanted to see them. She got a text from her mother.
"Come in," Linda told her daughter when she opened the door. "What is it mom? You look like you've been crying," Sam said.
Linda took her daughter's hand and steered her into the living room where she found her father sitting also looking very emotional.
"Sit down Sammie," Jacob said. After Sam sat across from her parents Jacob continued, "There is no easy way to say this. I have cancer Sam. It's terminal. The doctors said I had a few months left to live."
Sam gasped and tears instantly came to her eyes. A moment later she closed her eyes. Five seconds later Hermione along with Evan and Emma apparated into the room with the two children holding Hermione's hand.
"Why are you crying mommy?" Emma asked as she came over and hugged her mother. Sam wiped at the tears and said, "Because Grandpa is very sick baby."
"We can make him better," Evan said as he came over to his grandfather and laid his hands upon Jacob's shoulder. "It's the first thing dad and Hermione taught us."
Evan's hands started glowing with a bright white light. The glow wasn't very big. Emma came over and joined her brother. The glow was even smaller. Hermione came over and laid her hands on Jacob's temple. The glow this time was absolutely blinding. Jacob, Linda, and Sam were forced to close their eyes. This went on for about forty seconds. Then the glow faded.
"There, all better," Hermione said. Sam, Linda, and Jacob had tears in their eyes.
"Thank you," Jacob said with a hoarse voice as he stood and hugged Hermione. He pulled his grandkids into the hug, "Thank you all."
"You're welcome," Hermione said. "You're family now." When Harry got home a couple of hours later it was to find a celebratory mood.
"Come in," Sam told her parents excitedly as she opened the door.
"Your text made it sound urgent," Patricia said as her husband followed her into their daughter's home.
Sam seemed very excited. "It isn't urgent. But it's exciting," Sam said as she led them into the living room. Jacob and Patricia sat on the couch across from their daughter.
"What is it Sammie?" Jacob asked. "How would you two like to be 25 again?" Sam said. "At least physically." Jacob and Patricia were floored. It was Patricia who finally broke the silence. "Obviously we would love that. But how is that possible?" Patricia asked.
"Cloning," Sam said. She mentally activated the holographic projection system Harry had gotten installed in her home using the neural link he had provided her. The neural link was a small nanite injection which allowed her to interface with Alteran technologies. Bodies of Patricia and Jacob were shown via hologram at twenty-five years old. "The cancer got Harry thinking. He can grow clones of your bodies to twenty-five years of age and transfer your consciousness and essences into them."
"Is it safe?" Jacob asked.
"Very. Harry's people perfected the process," Sam said.
"Well then yes. We would love to do it," Jacob said.
"Harry said the clones will be fully mature in a few days," Sam explained.
"Won't people notice?" Patricia asked.
"That's what these are for," Sam said as she switched the hologram to several tastefully designed watches. "They will make it look like you are your current age."
"You running into Harry that summer so long ago has had many benefits for this family. But this is on a whole other level," Jacob said while shaking his head.
"Oh I don't think we've seen anything yet," Sam said. "It's this feeling I get the more I learn."
Sam didn't know it yet because Harry hadn't revealed this little tidbit. But the bodies he was cloning for Jacob and Patricia were going to be capable of the same vacuum energy manipulation as wizards and witches because he was making them genetically of Alteran descent. He had no intention of informing them of this fact until he was sure he and Sam were going to work out long term.
Maurice's Colorado Springs
Ishta entered the Tauri restaurant called Maurice's feeling very out of place. Hermione had assured Ishta that she was not in fact out of place. But Ishta still found she felt that way. It
didn't take her but a moment to spot her fellow Jaffa. He no longer had the mark of a first prime on his forehead thanks to their mutual friends of Harry and Hermione. But his bearing screamed Jaffa. She wasn't sure what he had been told. But she could tell he was surprised as he instantly recognized a fellow Jaffa in her.
Ishta approached their table and said, "Teal'c?"
Teal'c gave a slight bow of his head, "Indeed."
"I am Ishta," Ishta said.
They waited until the waiter had taken their order before Teal'c said, "I must admit I was not expecting a Jaffa."
"What did Harry and Hermione tell you?" Ishta asked.
"Only that they had someone they wished me to meet. They showed me human courtship rituals. My wife took another as husband when I threw down my shackles from the false god Apophis," Teal'c explained. "Do you still follow the Goa'uld?"
"I do not. My circumstances are strange. I am a high priestess of Moloc. Moloc ordered all children born girls be killed at a young age. I and sister Jaffa have been hiding them away in secret. One day several weeks ago when I alone was attending Moloc, Harry Potter appeared. Within moments he slew Moloc with a sword. He proceeded to replace Moloc with an identical looking machine that is able to act like Moloc but accepts most commands on in what ways to rule from me," Ishta explained.
"You now rule Moloc's domain in his stead?" Teal'c said with both eyebrows climbing into what would have been his hairline had he had hair.
"Indeed," Ishta said with a twitching of her lips that would have been the start of a smile at parroting his earlier response.
"I am most amazed at what Harry and Hermione are capable of," Teal'c said. "What did they tell you of this night and of me?"
"Hermione was introduced to me not long after I took over Moloc's domain. She has been very friendly and has helped me understand how to take care of my people. The false Moloc they allow me to command, something they call an HFR, is capable of assisting me to make decisions as well. It is equipped with much knowledge about ruling. Hermione told me a few days ago of a very handsome Jaffa she would like me to meet, Teal'c of Chulak. I have to say she was not wrong," Ishta said. Teal'c appeared pleased. "She also told me of human courtship rituals."
"I find you very beautiful as well," Teal'c said.
Ishta also seemed pleased and said, "Thank you."
"How is it you are on Earth?" Teal'c asked.
"Our Alterans friends have a cloaked space station in orbit of this world with its own gate which can even be active when Earth's gate is already active. They informed me the space station can transport someone to or from anywhere on this planet," Ishta said. "They have bid me to visit anytime I want. I must admit the culture fascinates me. Hermione often brings a movie for us to watch together."
"I too enjoy movies," Teal'c said. "I would enjoy watching some with you." "I would like that," Ishta said.
The two Jaffa found it very easy to bond over the course of the meal and spent time together after. This would not be their only date, far from it.
Potter Home, Colorado Springs
"This looks delicious," Jack said as he cut into his steak. He let slip a moan as he tasted it. "And it tastes magical."
Harry, Hermione, and Sam exchanged knowing looks at Jack's enjoyment of the house-elf cooked steak.
"We're glad you liked it," Hermione said. SG-1 plus Sha're and Ishta sat enjoying a meal together at Harry and Hermione's home.
"I get the feeling you want to tell us something important," Jack said after swallowing the next bite of steak. "Hit us," He said while glancing between the two Alterans.
Harry looked at Sam and nodded to her.
Sam took a deep breath and said, "Harry is the father of Evan and Emma."
Jack's eyebrows climbed into his hairline. Daniel and Teal'c also appeared surprised.
"You met an alien all those years ago and didn't think that was important to mention?" Jack said with surprise.
"Jack," Daniel said in a tone of caution. "How did it happen if you don't mind sharing?"
"It was the summer after high school before I went to the air force academy. I met Harry when I was on holiday in Europe. It was a very intense summer romance. Harry never mentioned being an alien. I found out I was pregnant shortly after the trip," Sam explained.
"Where have you been all this time?" Jack said. "Aliens don't believe in claiming their kids?"
"It's funny you mention time Jack. I was doing a bit of time traveling. I was actually in the past from my perspective when I met Sam. Then I came forward in time. I did not even know until recently that Sam and I had children," Harry explained.
"Ok. That makes my head hurt," Jack said. "Your people can travel through time?" Daniel said intrigued.
"It isn't something we do lightly or advertise," Harry said. "I would appreciate you not sharing that information or the childrens' parentage with anyone else."
"Your secrets are safe with us Harry Potter," Teal'c said.
"We wouldn't do anything to hurt Sam's kids," Jack agreed while Daniel nodded. "That is definitely something big," Jack said.
"Not to be indelicate but how does this affect you," Daniel said while nodding between Harry, Hermione, and Sam.
"We're deciding to give monogamy a pass for now," Hermione said. "Sam is part of our relationship."
Jack's eyes bugged out. He wisely kept his mouth shut. Up until now Ishta and Sha're had kept their mouths shut simply observing.
"Matters of the heart certainly make life interesting," Ishta commented.
The group was silent for a few moments as they ate and digested this information. Harry broke the silence by telekinetically levitating out what looked like watches. Everyone had a watch set down in front of them.
"What is this?" Daniel asked curiously as he examined the watch. "It's a watch. But that is only one feature," Harry said.
"In orbit of planets in this galaxy that have a Stargate we are starting to build space stations. They are simple affairs. Each space station is cloaked and has a stargate along with a transporter system that can transport people and goods to and from the planet the station is orbiting," Hermione explained as a hologram showing the design of the space station was projected.
"Won't the orbiting gates interfere with the gates on the planet?" Daniel asked.
"They will not. These new gates will be a separate network that can connect with the original network if we want. But the original network can only connect with the network, call it Network 2, if one of us forces the connections," Harry explained.
"So how does this relate to the watches?" Jack asked.
"The watches will vibrate briefly when you step onto a new planet to let you know if there is a space station in orbit. You are then able to access the transporter feature of the watch to remotely transport to and from the station or anywhere site to site on the planet," Hermione answered. The others were stunned. "The ability to transport is only being granted to SG-1. You cannot use it to transport in and assassinate people. The limited AI's built into the stations won't allow it. To be able to transport you simply think about the location you want to go to and the transport will do the rest."
"So, if I wanted to go to my cabin in Minnesota...," Jack said. "Try it," Harry told him.
Jack put the watch on and thought about his cabin. He disappeared via transporter light. Moments later he returned.
"It works," Jack said with a wide grin. "I can fish every weekend. Hell, every evening if I wanted."
"We're going to give all offworld personnel simpler bands that will transport them home via the stations if they are injured or trapped on a planet. They won't be able to site-to-site transport like SG-1. But I figure it will be a big help," Harry said.
"Indeed, it will Harry Potter," Teal'c said as he quickly put his band on. "These are for Ryac and Bra'tac," Hermione added as she levitated over two more bracelets. "I am in your debt," Teal'c said.
"These are gifts of a more personal nature for you," Harry said as he levitated over very limited holographic pads. "Press the button on the top of the pad and it will holographically explain the gift. Watch them in private later and let us know your decision. What is talked about on the gift is something that can be done any time but is not to be taken lightly."
"We will do so. Thank you," Daniel said. Jack nodded and added, "Thank you." The talk turned to something of lighter affairs.
"I think that went well," Sam said just after the last guest had left. "How do you think they will like the gifts?"
"I think you underestimate Daniel Jackson's curiosity. He'll be back shortly," Hermione said.
Indeed, it was only a few minutes later that Daniel was knocking on their door. Sha're looked hopeful behind him.
"Come in Daniel," Harry said. "We want to take you up on the offer you made," Daniel said. "How would it work?"
"First let's retrieve Haru. Patricia and Jacob know we may transport him over here," Harry said as Haru appeared. Haru was the name of the baby Sha're had recently given birth to. He was the Harsesis child. Patricia and Jacob had been babysitting next door. "Come sit on the couch. Hermione, if you can handle the memories I will handle the genetic manipulation."
Hermione sat down across from Sha're and placed her hands on the Abydonian woman's forehead. Hermione's hands began to glow while she closed her eyes. She was removing all of the emotional content of the memories of Sha're's time as the host of Amonet. Hermione also added a special memory of Daniel fathering Haru. Hermione made the memory of Apophis fathering Haru very weak.
Meanwhile Harry mentally connected with the transporter. He had already had this program prepared. Haru took on a full body glow like he was being transported. It only lasted a moment before fading.
"Haru is now actually your son," Harry told Daniel. "All genetic influence from Apophis has been replaced by your genetics. And the Harsesis knowledge is gone."
"Thank you," Daniel said.
"Yes, thank you," Sha're said with tears of happiness in her eyes as Hermione finished her work. "This gift you have given us is beyond value."
"You're welcome," Hermione said.
"Sam, Jack just transported into the back yard. He must have waited until he got home to watch his hologram," Harry said.
"I'll get it," Sam said. "We'll be leaving now," Daniel said.
Daniel, Sha're, and Haru left. Jack came back in being led by Sam. "You can really do it. It's not some kind of joke?" Jack asked. "We wouldn't do that to you Jack. We can do it," Harry said. Jack sat heavily onto a chair stunned.
"How would he come back?" Jack asked.
"What we would do is clone him. We would have placed a small device on the side of his head. It would have features that wouldn't allow anyone to notice it including Charlie. The device will ensure that everything Charlie is will be transferred into it milliseconds before the bullet penetrates his flesh. We'll then retrieve the device and transfer him into his clone," Harry explained.
"This is amazing," Jack said. "Is there anything you people can't do?"
"Some things," Hermione said. "Some things even we can't do. But we can do a lot more than most. Take some time to think this through. I can see you want to do it. But prepare your house to have a kid in it again. Decide what you want to tell your ex-wife. We don't mind you telling her what you want if you can swear her to secrecy."
Jack nodded and said, "I don't think I'm going to get a wink of sleep tonight. But I'll think about it. Thank you."
Jack stood, and Sam saw him out. "Do you think he and his ex will get back together?" Sam asked curiously after she had returned.
"I don't think so," Hermione said. "Charlie's death may have pulled them apart. But their marriage was struggling before that. I honestly think he and Janet would make a great couple."
Sam looked surprised for a moment before saying, "I can see that." "It's been a long day. Let's get cleaned up and go to bed," Harry said. "Mom said Evan and Emma are already in bed," Sam said. "Dobby and Winky will keep an eye on them," Hermione said referring to their house elves.
