Chapter One
Curses
Powerful Curses
-Parseltongue-
Harry walked down the street and turned into the park. It was overgrown with plants and the neat freaks of Surrey rarely ventured in there, leaving it a perfect sanctuary for Harry. He was walking and reflecting on the changes that happened last night when he had forgotten to practice his Occlumency.
Flashback
Harry was sleeping when his scar began to burn. Harry groaned out loud and winced when Dudley kicked the wall, his flabby foot rocking the whole house.
"SHUTUP FREAK!"
Harry managed to roll his eyes before his passed out from the pain.
He was in a black void. Behind him was a swirling mass of magic that he recognized from his Occlumency training Albus had given him when he got back from 5th year. He had mastered very quickly and found out that it wasn't as hard as he thought.
In front of him was another swirling mass of magic. Harry could taste the magical scent and recognized it as Tom's. Seeing as how Tom had gotten so pissed off when Albus had called him that in the Ministry, Harry, with his thoughts only thinking of the ways to inflict pain on Voldemort, had started to refer to him as Tom.
Harry cautiously moved forward, moving himself mentally closer to Tom's Magic. He reached the outside of it and put up his arm. Carefully, he slowly touched it. It wiggled, and black sparks leapt from the magic to Harry's fingers.
Harry quickly retracted his hand, and then gathering his courage, he plunged it in. Instantly, he was in Tom's mind. A rush of knowledge came to him suddenly.
He saw Tom's birth and his mother, a beautiful black haired, blue eyed women, who managed to name her son before passing on.
He saw Crinkle; the orphanage Headmaster beat him countless times. He saw Hogwarts for the first time, and felt the rush of emotion when the hat shouted Slytherin.
He saw the Death of Tom Riddle Senior, as Tom performed his first killing curse.
He saw the ancient and dark rituals he took to become immortal.
He saw the wealth of spells he memorized, so he could be invincible.
He saw the murder of children and the hoots of laughter as he tortured all of them from the light side.
He also saw the rape of Bellatrix Lestrange, Narcissa Malfoy and the unspeakable cruelties as he punished his Death Eaters to make Voldemort feel better about himself.
Harry jerked himself out as Tom's Occlumency shields were raised and he awoke with a start. He was panting and sweat was coming down his face.
'Was that a dream?" he asked himself. Turning the new information over in his head, he got his wand from the bedside table and waved it in a delicate pattern.
"Shieldus ex Magicka astomini Detectora" he muttered. The wand flashed gold before it was enveloped in the gold light. When it was done Harry performed a small spell that would kill the Underage Detection Charm.
After receiving no Ministry notice Harry was quite certain that it wasn't a dream. He had essentially raped Tom's mind. How else could he explain the 40 years of knowledge he had just gained? Turning on his side, he dozed off to sleep, planning to have fun tomorrow. The memories, while fading as he slept, leaving only knowledge, had left an imprint on his mind. An imprint that would forever be trapped as a part of Harry.
Flashback Over
Harry turned a corner and came to his favorite spot. It was quite a long way from the Dursleys, about an hours jog but it was worth it. It was a beautiful clearing with a small riving running through it then leading under a mountain. There were lilies planted everywhere and a nice sunny rock where he could sit on, or a nice shady spot under a giant oak tree. He sat down on the rock and smiled to himself as he remembered the Dursleys reaction when he did magic.
Flashback
Harry had woken up early today for a special reason. After being told so many times how he was ungrateful and that he should thank the Dursleys for taking care of him, and giving him food, he thought it would be a nice surprise if he would thank them, in his own way of course. Never mind the fact on how he was abused until he left for Hogwarts and only survived because his accidental magic healed him, or the fact that he was neglected and starved for 3 months when he was 5 and had to eat spiders and steal food when they weren't looking.
Harry walked down the stair smirking. If his memories from Tom Riddle had taught him something, it was how to act like a proper Slytherin, including The Art of Masking your emotions, 103 smirks for everyday use, and The Art of Sarcasm: The When, How, Why and Who?
Harry briefly entertained the thought of such books being written as he walked in the kitchen. His 'Family' was there.
"Good Morning" Harry said cheerfully. He sat down and began talking, ignoring the pursing of Petunia's lips, the deep shade of purple in Vernon's face and the whimper from Dudley, who was convinced that Harry was going to send the 'Dementheads' after him.
"I have been considering your requests over the past few years for me to thank you for your generosity in having me here." Harry said smoothly.
Petunia's eyes popped wide open.
Vernon's face turned smug.
Dudley's hands finally left the presence of his arse for more than 4 seconds when around Harry.
"So here is your reward for having me here, for the food, and let's not forget the physical and emotional abuse and neglect I suffered." Harry's voice had turned cold as he raised his wand at Dudley. With 40 years of Dark Magic, Harry knew some very interesting curses.
"Dementorcy," Harry muttered and a black light glowed from his Holly wand before lancing out and connecting with Dudley. He screamed and fell to the floor, withering. This spell worked like a Dementor and bought every single traumatic memory you had ever suffered.
Petunia screeched in shock and fear. "THEY'LL EXPELL YOU OR THIS!"
Harry laughed; a cold and bitter laugh and Vernon froze. He had been making his way for the butcher knife. "No they won't. You see I conveniently broke the Underage Detection charm on my wand. Quite illegally too, but it's not like I care."
Harry turned his wand on his Uncle. "Vernon, you were always the worst. You hit me, you hurt me and you will pay. Crucio"
Vernon screamed and fell to the floor, squirming in pain as the unforgivable connected to him. Harry watched dispassionately. He lifted the curse and watched with disgust as Vernon soiled himself.
"Pathetic" he mumbled, then turned his wand to his Aunt. "And you. You were the one who was meant to look after me. I am your nephew and your blood, yet you did nothing to help. I hate you the most out of everyone here. Shenterio Almosi Plemeen"
His wand trembled and a sickly orange light buckled from his wand and slammed into his Aunt. She screamed and clawed herself as her blood slowly turned acidic. Harry laughed as he watched his relatives in pain. Even if he hadn't raped Tom's mind, he still would have had revenge, only now he knew exactly how to hurt them. He lifted all of the remaining curses, shocked with himself and yet a little pleased.
"Listen to me. I will be in my room. You will not disturb me at all. You will not mention this to anyone. If you do…the consequences will be unthinkable. I will not do your chores or anything you say. I'll be jogging, as I usually have been every day. When I come back I expect a meal ready for me. I will know if you poison it and if you do…"
His relatives had nodded fearfully under his emerald gaze. With one last swish of his wand, which removed the silencing charms, the locking charms and the Notice-me-Not charms he walked outside, leaving a petrified family in to comfort each other.
Flashback Over
While many would see this as an act of a Dark Wizard, Harry saw this as justice. He had never been as prejudiced as most wizards and he thought that it wasn't the dark arts that made you evil, but the wielder of the wand who performs these magic's on innocent people.
This is entire summer; he had been getting into top physical condition. He knew all the magic he could need, though some of the old stuff in Tom's mind, like household charms and some transfiguration he had forgotten, he had focused to get fitter. It would be easier for him to duel if he was in top physical shape. Order members had trained him on his reflexes, his style and his Occlumency.
Harry paused in his musings as he heard a twig crack. His head shot up, and his emerald eyes, free from glasses as he had performed a charm, which had fixed his eyesight, scanned the area. He pulled out his wand and stood alert. The first curses came straight away.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!" Screamed an unknown voice. Harry waved his wand and a fallen log lifted from its position and into the path of the curse. It exploded on contact.
"STUPEFY!" Harry said with his wand bearing down in where he suspected the spell had come from. It flew into the foliage and hit someone. The figure crumpled onto the ground and fell forwards. Several more spells spiraled towards Harry, who muttered a charm. A bronze dome shimmered into place and the incoming spells splashed harmlessly against it. Several Death Eaters appeared from the foliage, some coming from behind trees and other apparating in.
He banished his wand and gave a flick. Several beams of violet strands came out wrapping around the Death Eaters eyes. Flashes of light flew everywhere and shouts of curses were sound out. Harry swiftly ducked and a barrage of curses flew over his head, exploding on the surrounding shrubbery and setting them alight. Eight Death Eaters had surrounded him. He quickly dodged a Stunner and sent a Body bind back. He conjured up a large silver shield and disarmed two more Death Eaters. A Death Eaters made a slashing moment with his wand and large purple flames grated across the shield. Harry ducked two Killing curses and waved his wand like a whip. A flame appeared at the tip of his wand and he made a sweeping gesture, which knocked 4 Death Eaters out. As he was preparing to Apparate he suddenly he heard a shout behind him. "Alvei Paocabre!"
A blinding light flared and a minute later all traces of Harry James Potter, the boy who lived were gone.
Harry thumped onto the ground. He quickly stood up and prepared himself for another onslaught when he stopped. He was still in the clearing but no one was here. And no signs of battle were evident. He looked around confused for a minute before pocketing his wand and patting his pocket. Harry had kept all of his things shrunken and in his pocket since he didn't put it past the Dursleys, even with their warning, to burn them.
"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" An angry yet familiar female voice shouted. Harry spun around, and put his hand in his pocket gripping his wand. An angry redheaded female was striding angrily in the clearing. She was quite beautiful and somewhat familiar.
"DID PETUNIA PUT YOU UP TO THIS?" she shouted as she came closer. Harry could see that she had green eyes. She looked extremely familiar but Harry couldn't place her. She came to a stop and glared at him. Harry gazed impassively back. Then it clicked.
She was Lily Evans. Harry's heart pumped painfully in his stomach as his eyes widened before closing quickly, forming into a neutral face. What the fuck was going on?
Lily sighed as the black haired boy just stared at her. She rubbed the bridge of her nose.
"Look, just leave me alone. I don't care what Petunia's been saying, she's lying."
The black haired boy smirked in amusement. "Oh, is she saying that you're a skank or that you are a witch, because I can tell by seeing your wand in your sleeve.
Lily's eyes shot up. "You're a wizard?" she exclaimed amazed. The boy grinned.
"Yep. And proud to be one." He declared. He pulled out his wand and muttered a spell. A mist came out of his wand and hovered in front of it before forming the time.
11:32 am.
1975
Harry put away his wand. It was, as he feared.
"So, What's your name?" Lily asked curiously. Harry gave her a small smile as he studied her.
She was about his height of 5'1, so he could have inherited his mother's build and it wasn't the malnutrition that made him small. Thought it didn't help. She had long dark red hair that reached her waist and a small pixie nose, like his. Her eyes were green and shining with a passion for life.
"Harry." He said and put out his hand. Lily shook it,
"So, why are you here?" Lily asked accusingly. This was her private spot and her only sanctuary from Petunia. Her 21-year-old sister was constantly bullying her and her Fiancée was always giving her a lustful look and trying to touch her. Her parents had passed away from a Car accident and she was sent to her Grandparents, but they were away for a week so it was just her sister, the bitch, and that pervert of a Fiancée and herself.
"I was just looking around here. Nice spot isn't it." Harry remarked casually, while holding his anger in check.
'She really shouldn't broadcast her thoughts. Maybe I should teach Vernon a lesson here as well'
Lily nodded. Looking around she said softly. "I love it here. It's so peaceful and quiet." She blushed as she realized that she was blabbing off to a stranger. "I'm sorry, I'm Lily. Lily Evans."
Harry smiled.
'Well, it could be worse.'

"So, do you come here often?" Harry inquired. His resolve almost broke when she beamed happily.
'Why did you have to die?'
"Yeah, I love this place. Gets me away from my Sister and her Fiancée." Lily said, sitting down on some rocks. Suddenly she stiffened and whirled out her wand, pointing it at Harry.
"How did you come here? Are you a Death Eater? If so, I'll…I'll curse you so bad that your children will feel the effects." Lily said, her voice wavering. She had read all about the horrors Death Eaters inflicted on Muggleborns such as herself. She doubted Harry was one but she couldn't take chances.
Harry held up his hands. "Whoa! Relax; I'm not a Death Eater. Put down the wand."
Lily frowned. "How do I know you're telling the truth?"
Harry pulled up his sleeve and showed is bare forearm to her. She just looked confused.
"Wonderful, you have an arm. Now show me proof!" she jabbed her wand in Harry's direction.
"Hey, I don't have a dark mark, what more proof do you need?" Harry exclaimed.
"Dark Mark?" Lily asked.
"You know, the weird tattoo Voldemort gives to his servants." Harry explained. With a quick movement he pulled out his wand and cried. "Petrificus Totalus."
Lily froze stiff and dropped her wand. She fell backwards, only to be caught by Harry who eased her gently onto the rock.
"Accio" he muttered and Lily's wand came flying into his hand. He could see the terror in Lily's eyes and with another wave he lifted the Body-bind. Passing Lily her wand he pocketed his.
"Now, if I was a Death Eater I wouldn't have let you free. So please stop waving that wand around." Harry said.
Lily glowered at him but reluctantly nodded her head. She put her wand in her bag and pulled out an advanced charms book. So advanced that they didn't teach it at Hogwarts.
"You must be good at charms to be reading that." Harry said. He recognized that book as one of the ones he had been reading this summer. He had finished it but had never tested out the charms. He hadn't had a chance to.
Lily nodded. "Professor Flitwick, oh he's the charms teacher at Hogwarts, said that I'm allowed to study independently because I mastered all of the charms that were taught here. What about you, do you like charms?"
Harry sat down beside her. "Yeah, they're okay. I'm better at curses and battle magic and I'm not very good at Potions. I'm average in Charms and Transfiguration though. I read that book this summer, very interesting."
Lily nodded. Then asked. "How come you did magic? You could be expelled?"
"I don't go to school. I had a few private tutors but I couldn't afford them anymore so I just practice out of old books and as such." Harry lied.
'Well, I actually don't go to school in this time period. The private tutors were Tonks and Kingsley when they came over with the books I requested so it's not like I'm lying. Just not telling everything.'
"Where do you live?" Lily asked. Harry rolled his eyes.
"What is this, the Spanish Inquisition?" he muttered and Lily blushed.
"Sorry" she mumbled and shoved her books in her bag. "I was just trying to be nice." She got up and started walking off, leaving a startled Harry behind.
"HEY LILY, WAIT UP!" Harry shouted and ran after her. He caught up to her and she turned to look at him, sadness and resignation in her face.
"Look, I get enough shit at School with having no friends and the blasted Potter trying to hit on me. I don't need this at home as well!" Lily said, sniffling. At school she was regarded as the nerd. She had no true friends and people only talked to her when they wanted her help for their homework or if they wanted her in bed with them.
Harry was shocked. He had never thought his Mum wasn't popular at school. "Look," he began. "I'm just in a bad mood. Don't mind me. I just lost my place to stay and I'm a bit stuck. I'm just a bit moody. I didn't mean to hurt you."
Lily sighed. "Well, I suppose I shouldn't have grilled you for information like that."
Harry grinned. "See, all better. Friends?" he said, a mischievous smile on his lips. Lily regarded him with a solemn expression before her mouth twitched in amusement. Harry put on his best puppy dogface and Lily cracked up.
"Oh fine," she said and rolled her eyes in amusement. Harry smirked.
"So, what's there to do around here?" he asked, plans already forming in his head.
"Nothing much for people like us." Lily said as they reached a road. "This is the neat and ordinary part of Upper Whinging. Anything regarded as weird is forbidden. Which means the rumors that I got to St Brutus Institution for Criminally Insane Girls makes me a weirdo. Petunia started them and since my grandparents couldn't tell everyone the truth they went along with it. So everyone hates me." Lily said in a matter of fact tone.
Harry could see that everyone shunning her had hurt her at first but now she looked like she couldn't care less. "Well, us weirdo's stick together." He said and thumped his hand on his chest.
Lily laughed and her green eyes twinkled. "You know, you look a bit like someone at school I know."
Harry stiffened.
"A guy named James Potter. Though you're smaller and you have a lighter complexion. And your nose is different. But you look a bit like him." Lily continued on, totally unaware of the tension Harry was feeling.
"No, I'm not related to any Potter's as far as I know." Harry lied calmly. Lily nodded. They were walking down the street and were approaching her house. Hopefully, with some help from Harry, she would be able to convince them to let him stay. He had said he had nowhere to go and she was very lonely during the holidays. Most people would be more wary of a stranger but Lily had a gift. It was more of a divination type of magic called Poldumency. It was a rare gift but it had only one purpose. It would inform her if someone were trustworthy or evil. So far, her Poldumency gift was screaming 'Trust Him!' and it had never let her down before.
They reached an old brick house. It was painted white and had a neatly trimmed garden. It was perfectly normal and clean.
"Yuk" Harry muttered and Lily stifled a laugh.
"That's what I thought as well when I first saw it," She said. "I moved here when my parents were killed in a car accident about 3 years ago. My grandparents live here but they aren't very fond of me. They left for a holiday so my sister is in charge. She hates magic and if there were still witch burnings she'd have a front row seat."
"Like my relatives. They were awful. I got them back though. I'd be considered evil if I told you what I did though, so don't ask."
At Lily's dawning expression he realized his mistake. "Oh, they're still alive. Not likely to forget me though." A smirk spread on his lips and Lily followed suit, imagining Vernon on the ground with curse marks on him and her standing above him, smirking at his fearful look.
"I wish I could do that." She mumbled as they reached the Veranda
Harry nodded as Lily knocked on the door. "I'm not allowed in without permission," she explained wrinkling her nose. "Vernon hates anything to do with magic, but that doesn't stop him trying to cop a feel at me."
Harry growled. "I'll be having a talk with your sister later. Anyway, I should get going. Don't want to intrude."
"NO! I mean come in. I'd like you to have a talk to my sister as you wanted to. I can't do magic out of school, but could you convince her to leave me alone? Please?" Lily said pleadingly.
Harry nodded. "I'd love to come in. Also, I'll show you a charm that lifts the Underage Detection charm on your wand. Then you can have fun."
Lily smiled gratefully as the door swung open. Petunia looked quite young, maybe about 21-22. She was a lot better looking than she was in 15 years but Lily outshone her.
"You! You little freak get inside! I told you I don't want you wandering the neighborhood! You'll spread some kind of disease around!" Petunia snarled at Lily, not noticing Harry standing in the shadows.
Harry stepped out and was rewarded with a startled shriek from Petunia. "Hello" he said coolly. "You must be Petunia. May we come in?" Without waiting for an answer he pushed his way and Lily followed behind him. Petunia spluttered at the doorway then slammed it shut.
"VERNON! THE FREAK IS HERE!" She screeched out loud. How dare that freak come in here with a stranger? Vernon will show her.
Vernon came staggering down the stairs. He wasn't as fat as he was before, which wasn't saying much since instead of 6 chins, he had 4. He blue beady eyes caught sight of Lily and he smirked.
"So, the freak thought she could run away." He sneered. He walked over, not noticing Harry. Grabbing Lily by the hair he was about to slap her when an arm grabbed his wrist.
"Don't" Harry said. His green eyes bore into Vernon's and Vernon flinched from the power coming from them. Harry released Vernon's wrist and pushed him into a chair. Behind him, Petunia gasped and Harry pointed to the chair.
"Sit. NOW!" Harry yelled at Petunia. Petunia sat down and eyed the boy warily. He was about Lily's height and they were both shrimps. He had messy black hair and green eyes like Lily's that glowed.
"Now, Lily can do whatever she wants around here from now on." Harry commanded. He glared at Vernon. "No one will touch her. If she wants 452 pancakes for breakfast, you will cook exactly 452 pancakes. I will not tolerate abuse."
Vernon's face turned purple. "NOW LISTEN HERE YOU LITLE FREAK! I WILL NOT STAND BY AND LET A…" He fell silent as Harry pulled out his wand.
"Silencio" Harry muttered and Vernon opened his mouth. No sound came out and he sent a panicked glance to Petunia, who had fallen silent at the sight of his wand.
"Also" Lily interrupted. "Harry will be staying here for as long as he likes."
Harry shot her a look, which she calmly returned. Harry sighed.
"That's right. So go and do what you do and leave us the hell alone." He released Vernon from the charm and watched with amusement as they leapt up and scrambled away.
"Tempus" Harry muttered.
12:03 pm
Harry smiled and put away his wand. He turned to Lily. "Want to go out and get some lunch. This place smells like penguin."
Lily laughed. "Let's go!"
They stopped off at a Burger King down in town. Harry ordered 2 burgers and 2 large fries with a large coke and took the tray over to where Lily was sitting.
"My treat" he said.
As they were munching on fires Lily sighed. "It's a pity that I go back in 3 days. I would have enjoyed staying there and seeing their faces.
Harry nodded and took a sip of his coke. "I have to owl Dumbledore. Do you have an owl?" he asked. Lily shook her head.
"Nah, I have no reason too. It's not like people send me mail." Lily said, almost sadly.
Harry frowned. "Well, I suppose I could meet him at Hogwarts and catch the train with you."
Lily took a bite out of her burger. "So, what was that charm you were talking about?"
Harry smirked. "It removes the charm that is activated when you buy your wand. They can't track you."
"Can you do it for me?" Lily begged and turned her green eyes on Harry.
"Maybe…" Harry teased. Lily groaned dramatically.
"Don't make me resort to desperate measures." She warned, wagging her finger at him.
"Ooh! I'm so scared." Harry said sarcastically. Lily smirked.
"Don't forget that you asked for it." She warned then started crying. She staggered on her knees and fell in front of Harry.
"Please…" She sobbed, a tear falling down her face. "I won't do it again…don't hit me again…Please!"
Harry looked around awkwardly. People were staring and some were looking at disgust at him.
"FINE!" he shouted and stood up. "Geez! You have problems." Lily stopped her fake crying and got up.
"See, that wasn't so hard." She crowed as they left Burger King. "Oh. The look on your face." She started laughing and Harry's angry frown disappeared. His lips twitched and he started laughing as well. There was something about Lily that made you rejoice life. He hadn't laughed so hard since Sirius died.
Even mentioning him gave his heart a painful jerk. However he was too busy laughing to care. When they stopped Lily handed over her wand.
"Now" she commanded. Harry sighed and muttered the correct charm. Her wand glowed gold before the light receded.
"Perfect" Lily said. She took her wand back and tucked it in her waistline. "Now where?" she asked.
Harry grinned. "Let's have a night on the town."
"It's only 12:30," Lily protested, but she soon gave way.
Harry smiled to himself.
'I'm really starting to like this place'
Chapter Three
Curses
Powerful Curses
-Parseltongue-
Harry and Lily were at a nightclub. It was just a bit before midnight and they had been talking to each other all day and getting to know each other better.
Flashback
"So, what's your last name?" Lily questioned.
"Harry…Riddle." Harry said slowly. He smirked mentally. He would be giving a massive headache to past Tom to see if he was related to him and hopefully a heart attack to future Tom when he heard that his Number 1 enemy was using his name.
"Harry Riddle," Lily said slowly, savoring the feel of the name. "Riddle…I've heard of that name before. He won a special services award for the school about 30 years ago. Is he related to you?" She asked.
Harry nodded. Either he was too drunk too care about the consequences or he couldn't care. In 3 days he would be back at Hogwarts and Dumbledore, (Even though he had insisted that he be called Albus) would send him back home. So he was going to enjoy the time spent with his mother.
Flashback Over
He was already seeing her in a different light. Before he had come he had seen his mother as a perfect person, incapable of cruelty. Well, this was before he saw her fight with a girl down the road. Harry realized that there was a lot he didn't know.
Flashback
Harry watched as a girl about Lily's age walked over. She had blonde hair and dazzling blue eyes. She was a stunner. Lily tensed beside him.
"Oh great," she muttered. "Miss Queen Bitch has arrived."
Harry stared at Lily in astonishment. He hadn't been expecting something like that to come from her mouth. Then again, it just proved on how little he actually knew his mother. Sure, he had heard all about his Dad and how he was a great flyer (Hooch) a great Transfigurationist (McGonagall) and a great prat with an inflated ego (Snape) but no one had ever spoken about his mother in great detail. He had wondered briefly about if his mother had friends but by the sounds of it she didn't.
"So. The little freak has left the house. Pity, it was a much nicer place around here without you around here to ruin things for us normal people," sneered the girl. She looked at Harry and appraised him. Licking her lips she simpered. "I'm Kimberly."
"Harry," Harry said. He made no move to shake her hand and she dropped it looking disappointed. Beside him Lily sneered.
"Harry, why don't you hang around with me? Maybe we can find something better to do, eh?" Kimberly said in what she thought was a sexy voice. Harry's eyebrows rose. It wasn't often that gorgeous blondes propositioned him. Normal Red-Blooded humans would jump at the chance. Thank God he considered himself anything but normal.
"No thank you Kimberly, I have things to do." Harry politely refused. Kimberly dropped her sweet act and snarled.
"What! You are refusing me over that little red haired bitch!" She shrieked.
"What are you calling me? You're the fucking slut the fucks anything with a dick. I heard you were so desperate you tried to do your dog…and it refused!" Lily snarled out, her green eyes flashing with malice.
Harry was very surprised when she grabbed his head and kissed him. He stood there and then put an arm around her, figuring that she was trying to play a trick. She pulled back and turned to Kimberly.
"He's mine. You wouldn't want him anyway, he's a freak like me."
Kimberly walked off scowling and Lily turned to Harry. Harry just raised an eyebrow. Lily blushed and ducked her head. "Sorry about the kiss. Unless you wanted to be ravaged by her, I thought that I might say that I was yours, make everyone leave us both alone."
Harry sighed in relief. "You're a great girl Lily, but I don't like you like that."
Lily nodded then scowled at him. She started advancing on him with a menacing look. "Am I not good enough for you, is that it?" she snarled. Harry was startled and was about to run when she cracked up. Harry just glared at her, making her peel off into more round of laughter. When she stopped she grinned.
"Relax Harry, I don't feel that way." She said. Harry nodded, confused by her actions. Suddenly Lily took hold of his sleeve.
"Let's go!" she shouted and pulled him down the street. What Harry failed to notice the hurt in her eyes.
Flashback Over
Harry was sitting in a small parlor in the nightclub. Lily was dancing with some guy, and he was watching him carefully. He felt a duty to look after her. He raised a hand and called the waitress over.
"A Martini please" he said. The waitress nodded and went to the bar to get it. When she came back she asked for ID. Harry sighed and pulled out a wad of money.
"Is this enough identification?" Harry asked. By the greedy glance the girl gave it was. He peeled off the right amount for the drink then stuffed a fair amount in her pocket. The waitress smiled and walked off, happy with her 400 pound tip.
Harry was glad he had taken a lot of gold and Muggle money out of his vault before he had been transported here. He had gone to Diagon Alley at the start of summer and had purchased lots of books and some new clothes as well as at least 6000 Galleons out. He was now wearing all black, with a pair of jeans, a T-shirt and a long black dragon hide trench coat. Luckily, it easily passed off as Leather,
Harry slowly sipped the glass as Lily came back. She was flushed and swaying on her feet, a sure sign that she was drunk.
"Hi Harry" she said brightly and sunk down in her seat. She hiccupped. Harry rolled his eyes and performed and sobering charm. Lily's eyes came back into focus.
"Thanks" she said. She sipped a small glass of water before stiffening.
"Harry?" she said. Harry glanced up. "Something's bad going to happen." She stated. "I…can feel it."
Harry could feel it as well. "I know" he said simply and pulled out his wand. He kept it hidden from the rest of the club. Lily discretely pulled out hers as well. Harry could feel the tension in the air and wasn't surprised when it happened.
The entrance was flooded with Death Eaters. Shrieks came from the Muggles as they were forced back onto the dancing floor. The band stopped playing as about 30 Death Eater, 25 in white masks and 5 in silver, spread out. The silver masks were signs of Tom's lieutenants.
"UP!" one of them snarled at a table of Muggles. They quickly got up and were forced onto the dance floor.
3 of the regulars approached their table. While most people were moving towards the Dance floor they sat still. Harry was ready to attack at any moment. If he hadn't been holding the prophecy at the Ministry of Magic, he along with the rest of the DA that had been there would have slaughtered them. He was quite a dueler and with the extra knowledge he had he was pretty confident he could hand some Death Eaters.
"YOU TWO, UP AND ALONG WITH THE REST OF THEM!" One of them shouted. Harry slowly stood, his green eyes never leaving the Death Eaters eyes. The Death Eater gulped as he saw the rage and power flow through them.
"Y-YOU T-TWO, MOVE N-NOW!" he screamed, stuttering. Harry smiled a cold smile and was about to attack when all the Death Eaters went quiet. Walking into the club was Lord Voldemort.
Harry froze and beside him Lily shrank back in fear. Lord Voldemort looked different. He had black hair that reached down to his shoulders and his red eyes were tinted with green. He wore a black robe and his red eyes pierced the crowd.
"Wellington!" he hissed, his serpentine voice washing over the Muggles, making them shiver. All the Death Eaters bowed from where they were and one of the silver masked men crawled forward.
Harry, pulling Lily along with him, took the opportunity to quickly duck under their table and crawl towards the exit. He had no chance against these odds. Whilst Harry was powerful, he had not performed some of the rituals that made Tom as strong as he was. He had the advantage of surprise and Knowledge on his side as when he had stole Tom's memories, Tom had been 20 years older and experienced.
"How many?" Lord Voldemort barked out.
Neal Wellington bowed and replied in a murmured voice. "About 100 milord."
Voldemort smirked. "Perfect, they will be perfect test subjects. You may have a few to satisfy yourselves if I am feeling generous."
"Thank you Milord, your generosity overwhelms us." Neal said and bowed and kissed the hems of Voldemort's robes. All of the Death Eaters bowed and Voldemort noticed movement out of the corner of his eyes.
"YOU! STOP MOVING!" He shouted. The whole club went quiet and out from the shadows came 2 teens, a boy and a girl. They both had piercing emerald eyes and the girl had long red hair, while the boy has short, messy black hair. They stood about 5'1. The girl seemed terrified but the boy was calmly looking into his eyes.
'Impressive. Even my most loyal have difficultly staring at me straight in the face'
"What are your names?" he asked. The girl jumped at his tone.
"Lily," she squeaked out. The boy looked at him and calmly said. "Harry."
Voldemort frowned at Harry. He was too calm. Using Legilimency he started to probe.
Harry felt the familiar signs of Legilimency and bought up his mental shields, reinforcing them as much as he could. With a quick snap, he shoved Tom out of his mind.
Tom staggered back, and looked at the boy in astonishment. His willpower was amazing. There was hardly anyone who could stop him.
Harry's lip curled. "Your Legilimency won't work on me Thomas."
As predicted Tom flinched. "MY NAME IS LORD VOLDEMORT!"
There was silence. None of the Death Eaters had ever seen him as angry as this. They backed away slowly as Voldemort continued.
"Respect me boy, and I may let you live. And the pretty little thing beside you as well, some of my Servants would like a taste of her."
Harry's blood boiled. Suddenly, cracks of Apparation were heard and Harry could here fighting outside. Voldemort nodded to Neal, who gestured for 20 regulars to follow him, leaving 4 Lieutenants and 5 regulars. A crack indicted Aurors had entered and Tom focused his attention on them for a brief second. They started dueling with the Death Eaters and as Tom raised his wand, so did Harry.
"Can you watch my back?" he whispered to a terrified Lily. She squeaked and nodded slowly. "Lily, Relax." At Harry's command she looked at him with wild eyes. Harry stared into them and used Legilimency. Slowly, he accessed her brain and calmed down her heartbeat. She closed her eyes and when she opened them, they had a determined glint in them. She nodded.
"Alright" Harry said and squeezed her hand. "Just remember, whatever I do up there, I'm still me." At Lily's confused look he explained. "Just don't judge everything in black and white.
Harry walked forward and raised his wand. He was ready and was not going to lose to a freak like Tom.
"So Thomas, tell me, whatever happened to Melinda?" Harry asked softly.
Voldemort whirled around after killing an Auror. "What did you say?" he snarled.
"Melinda, you know, the girl that you loved and she left you because you were insane. I wonder if she knows who you are now? I think she would be disgusted like your Mother would. Your Mother died for you and this is how you repay her? You sicken me."
Harry's words had a visible effect. Tom flinched, as if struck and he suddenly looked for small, and cowered. But that image soon disappeared as he stood up.
"You dare insult my mother with your Mudblood lips?" he hissed out slowly. The Death Eaters and Aurors had finished dueling and not one remained conscious.
"Aren't you a Mudblood as well? Let's go ask dear old Daddy. Oops, silly me, I completely forgot. You killed him. Must have been a shock when Crinkle told you your father was alive. Didn't he tell you right before he raped you, then sold you off to his friends?" Harry answered back, his cruel words hitting home.
Tom was pissed off. Every single glass smashed into shards and he began to emit a dark aura that let off so much power that the Muggles were literally pushed back and away from the two rivals. Harry responded and he began to emit an aura full of suffocating power as well.
'Let's start this, and hope that I have Health Insurance.'
Chapter Four
Harry and Tom stared at each other. Minds clashed as they each used Legilimency to try to weaken their opponent. After a brief struggle, the magical clash stopped. Harry raised his new wand he had gotten, to counter the effects of Prior Incanterum. It was made of ebony, 12 inches and a basilisk fang soaked in basilisk blood. It was custom made for him by Ollivander. Tom raised his wand as well and the fight truly started.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!" he shouted and a massive beam of green light slammed into the floor, leaving a scorch mark where Harry had just been standing.
"STUPEFY!" Harry retaliated, and the red beam sliced through the air. Tom raised his wand and it exploded in a shower of sparks on a bronze colored shield, creating an irritating grating noise.
Harry waved his wand. "AVADA KEDAVRA!" he shouted for the first time.
His wand buckled, and a feeling of goodness died in him as the intoxicating scent of Death fled from his wand. Tom ducked and it smashed into a table, smashing it into pieces.
Harry weaved a protection spell as Tom sent a curse back. It smashed into the protection spell and shimmered Harry flicked his wand, and with the noise of a gun, a bright silver light beam left his wand.
Tom sidestepped and sent in a Crucio. It smashed into a shield and broke through, forcing Harry to duck. Harry quickly stood up and brandished his wand like a sword. A pillar of light erupted and rebounded off a hasty shield Tom had put up, hitting the wall. A bright flare lit up and where the wall used to be was a huge 4-meter hole.
Tom hissed. "Aztempke" His wand glowed and glowing, pulsing balls homed in on Harry, who quickly apparated. When he reappeared, the spot he had just left had a huge column of flames. He had to apparate again as Tom sent a killing curse.
He reappeared behind Tom and waved his wand like a whip. A glowing line of magical energy looped around Tom, through his shield and all. Tom struggled for a second and with a click of his finger, the line turned into a python.
-KILL THE BOY! – Tom hissed, then muttered an arcane formula. The roof flashed and a giant cone of ice smashed through and into the ground where Harry had just been.
Harry winced as he saw the ice. If he hadn't been able to apparate, he would be dead. He raised his wand and sent a streak of magic back at Tom. Tom countered and the curses met halfway, exploding in a cackle of magical energy. Harry sent another curse where Tom had to sidestep and he noticed a snake coming up. Alarmed he jumped back.
-GO AWAY! – Harry hissed. The snake obeyed and Tom looked on in surprise.
"So, a filthy Mudblood taints the sacred art of Parseltongue." He sneered.
"Aren't you a Mudblood as well Thomas?" Harry shot back. Tom growled and Harry was forced to conjure a shield as Tom sent a curse his way. He waved his wand and a stool was banished in Tom's direction. Before it reached him, it exploded as Tom slashed his wand at it.
"SILPORMO!" Harry muttered, and a magical flash flared and slammed into Tom, throwing him across the floor and into a wall. He staggered up and shouted. "ADVADA KEDAVRA!"
Harry ducked again and conjured up a brick wall, which was shattered by a Reductor curse.
With a snap of his wrist, a bolt of magic slammed into Tom's shield. Tom responded by a slash of his wand and purple flames grated over Harry's shield.
"ZENKIROLO!" Several silver shards smashed into a silver shield and Harry disappeared. When he reappeared he waved his wand and it buckled as a bright orange spell flashed past Tom's head.
Tom transfigured a broken glass into a pit bull, which Harry banished. However, he was unable to dodge the next curse and was thrown back a few meters with blood dripping down his clothes.
Pulling out his other wand he stood up started firing off curses at an extraordinary speed.
"ACIDICA MENTALA!" A stream of acid splashed against a table, which Tom had summoned.
"CRUCIO!" Harry dodged the unforgivable and sent off a Stunner to a Death Eater that was crawling for his wand. He had forgotten about Lily and could see her struggling to fight off several Death Eaters. He jabbed his wand in their direction and the ground exploded, sending the Death Eaters falling over. Lily stunned them and gave him small smile the shouted and pointed behind him.
Harry's eyes widened and he duck just in time as the jet of flames lanced over him. Harry snarled and jumped to his feet. Tom muttered an incantation and a streak of magic so foul you could feel the evilness radiating off it arced towards him.
Harry flicked his wand and muttered an incantation. A bright, gold of magic that felt like the phoenix song countered the other streak as they clashed. There was a giant boom, as if a bomb had gone off when the magic hit each other, and they exploded, letting off magical energy that made Harry's hair rise.
Tom muttered a curse and the floor beneath Harry exploded. Harry quickly jumped up and apparated in mid-air. Landing down, he conjured a large mirror, which reflected a curse back at Tom who deflected it.
Tom quickly shattered the mirror and traced a dark rune in the air. Dark Runes were part of Rune magic. This particular one created a golem made of steel. They were hard to beat, as they were resistant to magic. They could be beaten but it just took a while.
Harry backed as a splintering of steel formed into a man-sized golem holding a sword. With a quick leap, the golem slashed his sword at Harry. Harry weaved a ward, and the blade smashed onto a pink bubble that surrounded Harry. With a quick banishing charm, the golem smashed into the floor.
Harry turned to Tom and was hit by a cutting curse. It slashed into his torso, earning a hiss of pain. Harry had to deflect several more curses. While he was getting tired, so was Tom. Sweat ran down both of their faces. Tom pointed his wand and said. "Expellamius!" Harry was too slow and his phoenix feather wand was ripped from his hand.
"ACCIO!" Harry called and it was summoned back to him in mid air. He put it in his pocket and was hit by a blasting curse, which slammed him to the floor. As he struggled to get up, the golem loomed over him and swung its sword. As it was just about to swing, the golem glowed, then shattered in a million pieces. Harry turned to see Lily holding her wand. She was bleeding from a cut on her cheek and holding her ankle.
Harry struggled up and sidestepped to avoid a blue energy blast. As he waved his wand a Muggle from the crowd on the dance floor leapt out and pulled out a gun. He aimed it at Tom, who glared at the Muggle and jabbed his wand. The Muggle screamed and his body decomposed from inside out.
Harry sent a fireball at Tom, and it scored a hit right on the chest. He staggered back and fell over. He had been too distracted by the Muggle. Seeing the gun on the ground, Harry summoned it and pointed it at Tom, who had just stood up. He fired.
BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! CLICK!
4 bullets hit Tom in various parts of his body. He had put up a defensive spell, and the remainder bullets shattered on impact. Tom wheezed and summoned the bullets out of his chest. With a quick charm, the wound was temporarily healed. Tom was angry and curious.
'Who is this child that wields such great power? I must have him dead or by my side!'
Tom slapped away a stunner with his hands and muttered in Parseltongue. The ground shook and where Harry was standing, 3 magical vines wrapped around his ankles, leaving him trapped. Harry also muttered in Parseltongue and Tom's legs froze under a binding spell. They both had lost their agility. Neither of Duelers allowed the other to remove the binds. They kept muttering charms and throwing curses at each other, and weaving protection shields and deflecting each other spells. Whenever Tom would use a killing curse, Harry would conjure an item to block it.
This continued for 2 minutes before Harry cried out "LUMOS SOLERUM!" A bright flash erupted from his wand and blinded everyone looking. Tom quickly close his eyes and muttered a counter for his legs while Harry slashed off the vines. After the light receded, both fighters were ready to go on.
Tom twirled his wand in an elaborate manner and a raven black flame popped out of his wand and smashed into a golden globe, setting it alight. Harry muttered a curses and Tom muttered a shield spell. This is what Harry had been expecting and his curses filled the shield with water, trapping Tom. Harry aimed his wand and waited for the right moment.
When Tom dropped his shield Harry sent a cackle of lightning at the water before it dropped. It connected and Tom screamed in pain, as he was electrocuted. The water dropped and Tom raised his wand. All he saw was a blue flash of lightning before he was thrown back. 2 ribs cracked and he responded with a wave of magical force, which slammed into Harry's stomach, leaving him wheezing.
Harry shakily stood, one hand clutching his stomach. Tom staggered up and leant upon a table. Both were panting as they regained their breath and they stared at each other when a loud cheer was heard from outside.
"RETREAT!" shouted a voice that Harry recognized as Neal Wellington, the Death Eater commander. Lot's of pops indicated the retreat of the Death Eaters and Neal popped in the room.
"Master…" he began then stopped. The room was trashed. Several holes were in the wall and there were scorch marks in the floor and tables. Chairs were broken and tables were snapped. There was broken glass all over the floor and several Death Eaters were stunned. Near them was the red haired witch, glaring hatefully at him, blood running down her cheek. The boy was clutching his stomach and staring at his Master, who was leaning heavily on a table.
"Neal, Take our comrades out." Snapped his Master. Neal bowed and waved his wand over his Death Eaters. The rose and Neal muttered the Portkey charm that they were all attached to. They all disappeared and his Master stood up straight.
"Mark my words boy, we will meet again." His master hissed to the boy. Neal reeled over in shock. This boy, barely the size of him, had fought his Master and wounded him? This boy was still alive?
The boy smirked. "Goodbye Thomas" he sneered and sent a lance of blue at his Master. The power behind the curse was legendary and Neal felt the hair of his arms stand up as the flash of blue sped by him. His Master disapparated and the curse exploded the wall behind him, raining pieces of debris on the Muggles. Neal swore and disapparated as well.
Harry staggered up. He was not too badly injured. He had a large scorch mark on his chest, but nothing to serious. He turned to Lily and hurried to her side. She was leaning against the wall, her ankle bent in a funny way and blood down her clothes.
"You were amazing!" she whispered in awe. Harry smiled gently.
"So were you. You saved my life. I owe you a life debt." Harry said quietly.
Lily snorted. "You saved mine as well, we're even." She winced when she stood on her ankle. Harry noticed.
"Let's go to Saint Mungo's." he said and turned around to see the Muggles staring at him. Some in awe, some in fear and some in thankfulness. A man stepped forward. He was a bikie and had lots of tattoos. Harry tensed. He didn't need a fight right now. Then, the biker started clapping. Soon they were all clapping and Harry blushed.
"Come on." He said to Lily. He grabbed her hand and they both apparated away. 3 seconds later Albus Dumbledore and a group of Aurors walked in.
Albus looked around in astonishment. He saw 5 fallen Aurors and rushed to their side. 3 were dead, one wasn't going to make it and one was just stunned. He woke up the stunned Auror.
The Auror blearily opened his eyes before trying to jump up. Albus held him down.
The Auror looked at Albus and stammered out. "Professor! I- I was stunned. Sir, I tried but HE was here."
"Voldemort?" Albus asked sharply. The Auror nodded. "Tell me what happen Mark." Albus insisted and helped up into a stool. Aurors were interviewing the Muggles and press were taking pictures.
"Well, we arrived in and this kid was talking to Him. We started fighting with the Death Eaters and then the boy started fighting him. That was when Freeman died…" he trailed off.
"I'm sorry my boy, but I need to know." Albus said softly.
The Auror blinked back tears. "Anyway, those two were really going at it. The curses were so powerful it made my magical detector explode. Also, a girl about his age was helping us. She stunned 3 Death Eaters by herself. Then I was stunned." The Auror finished.
Albus smiled. He gestured for a medic and patted the Auror on the back. "You did well today, have some rest and I expect you to have a vacation soon with your wife."
He stood up and walked up to one of the Aurors writing something down. The Auror looked up. "Well, all of them say that a boy was fighting 'Red Eyes' as they call Him. By their description there was a girl about 5'1, green eyes and red hair. The boy was about the same height with similar green eyes and black hair. Also, he referred to Him as Thomas and made several insulting remarks about His parents and some guy called Crinkle. They fought and came to a tie. Voldemort was shot by a Muggle wand…a gun, I think, and the boy was hit by a few beams of light, curses." The Auror looked at Albus. "Make any sense Sir?"
Albus was looking thoughtful. "Perfect. Not many know Voldemort's original name. Do you know where they went?"
The Auror looked in his notes. "According to this, the boy talked to the girl after He left and he mentioned Saint Menge's. I think the Muggle means Saint Mungo's."
Albus nodded. "Clean up and send in a team of Obliviators. I'll see you at the next Auror meeting." Nodding to the Auror he grabbed a glass and muttered a few words. It glowed blue and a jerk in his navel indicated that the portkey had worked.
Chapter Five
Harry and Lily apparated into the waiting room inside Saint Mungo's. Harry helped Lily up and she limped with him to a desk. A number of people were there already, with injuries ranging from a broken arm to a shovel for a leg. Harry rang the bell of the witch behind the desk, a middle aged blonde who looked up from her novel.
"Problem?" she said in a bored tone.
"Death Eater attack. I got hit by a few curses." Harry said wincing as he gingerly touched his chest. His flesh was burnt and there was a deep cut running trough his torso. His robes were splattered with blood and he had a nasty cut on his cheek. Lily was holding her arm and was limping with a broken ankle. She had a nasty burn on her leg and her hair was partially ripped out.
"All spell damages are done on fourth floor." The witch replied in a bored tone. "You should have left the Death Eaters alone and they would have left you alone. NEXT!"
Lily glared and limped away with Harry supporting her.
"Leave the Death Eaters alone, she says" Lily mocked. "Don't mind the fact that You-Know-Who…"
"Voldemort or Thomas, not You-Know-Who." Harry corrected. Lily gave him a sharp glare.
"Fine. Don't mind the fact that Thomas was about to kill us, No, we'll just stand there and be tortured. Stupid woman,"
Harry smirked. "Oh, cheer up. Besides didn't you have fun tonight? I certainly did!"
Lily's jaw dropped as they entered the lift. There was a family of 3 small bright-eyed children standing there with their father as well as an ancient looking wizard with a beard to rival Dumbledore's. The door closed with a chime and Lily's rant started.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAD FUN?" She shrieked. The father gave her a glare, which Lily just promptly brushed aside. "I was expecting a nice dance at the nightclub and instead I get Death Eaters and You-Know-Who barging in."
"What, you're saying it wasn't satisfying when you kicked Death Eater but?" Harry protested.
"No, I'm saying I was scared out of my wits when you decided to duel with THE STRONGEST DARK WIZARD IN A CENTURY!" Lily had forgotten about her audience and they were watching with curiosity.
"Excuse me Ma'am?" the Ancient looking wizards said. "But did you just say that this boy dueled with He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named?"
"Yes!" Lily said impatiently and began her rant again. The wizard looked at Harry with curiosity and the children were listening looked at him in awe.
Harry rolled his eyes and winced as his torso gave a sting of pain. Lily noticed.
"Deserves you right!" she huffed.
"Aw! Come on Lils!" Harry protested. "It's not like I'm dead. Besides, Snake face got way worse off than me."
Lily said nothing and when the lift opened for 4th floor, Lily was about to march off when Harry stopped her.
"WHAT!" she shrieked.
"You still have a broken ankle, unless you don't want my help," Harry said amusedly
Lily blushed and took Harry's offered arm as they limped away from the lift.
The hospital floor was huge. There was a main waiting room with a small desk up front and several corridors branching off it. It was pure white and Harry could see rooms that exited from the corridor.
He and Lily limped over to the receptionist, who was being harassed by a short, plump witch.
"I've been waiting three hours and…MOOOOOO!!! And I still haven't been…MOOOOOO! Been treated for my…MOOOOOO! My wrongly placed voice charm…MOOOOOO!"
"I'm sorry Ma'am but we have had several Death Eater attacks tonight. The floor is for wounded people only." The receptionist said. The witch huffed and sat back down while Harry and Lily approached.
"Excuse me?" Lily said. The receptionist looked up.
"My friend and I have been hit by a few dark curses from Death Eaters. We could use some help." Lily continued.
The receptionist said nothing but pressed a small blue switch. A door opened in one of the corridors and Harry and Lily made their way inside. It was a small, white room with a bed and 3 chairs and a fish tank. Harry eased Lily up on the bed while he sat down on a chair.
Soon, a healer walked into the room. "Good evening." He said politely. He had sandy hair and brown eyes. "What seems to be the problem?" he asked.
Harry rolled his eyes discreetly and pointed to his chest. "Well, I've been cursed and Lily has a broken ankle."
The Healer frowned and took out his wand. With a few quick waves a quill hovered above a piece of parchment. It kept scribbling something down every time the Healer jabbed his wand in their direction. Soon it stopped and the Healer bent down to pick the notebook up.
"Lily Evans is it?" he asked Lily. She nodded silently. "Well, you have a fractured ankle, two broken ribs from a blasting curse and a deep scratch from a cutting curse. I'll fix those up now for you." The Healer waved his wand and started mumbling in Latin. A golden glow spread around lily and when it was gone, all signs of injuries were gone. "You were lucky that the Death Eaters used low-level curses or it would be much worse than that."
He turned to Harry. "Harry…I'm sorry, there is a problem with the notebook. Would you mind telling me your last name please?"
'Shit. Maybe Riddle was not a good fake name anyway.'
"It's Smith, Harry Smith." Harry said calmly and shot Lily a look, who was about to open her mouth in protest.
'Well Harry, you have a torso wound from a high level battle curse, 2 degree burns from a Dark Flame spell as well a few cuts from some unidentified magic. You should be fine though, but I would like the two of you to stay overnight. Is that a problem?"
Harry shook his head and turned to Lily, who was already sleeping in the bed. "I guess we'll be staying then." He said. The Healer flashed a tired smile and walked out. The door closed with an inaudible click as the lock shut. Harry walked over to Lily and shook her awake.
"Lily?" he asked softly. Lily's eyes snapped open and she jumped up, reaching for her wand. When she saw it was only Harry she gave a tired smile of guilt.
"Sorry, still a little hyped up." She yawned. "I need to talk to you anyway." She said, with a serious voice. Harry winced and sat down, ready for her inevitable questions.
"You're a…"
"Wait!" Harry commanded and waved his wand, erecting silencing charms and other charms to insure that this remained private. After he was done he gestured to Lily to continue.
"You're a Parseltongue." She stated calmly. Harry nodded hesitatingly.
"Oh." She said. Harry frowned.
"Oh? No 'run away from evil dude?' thing."
"Shut up Harry! I know you aren't evil." Lily said exasperated.
"How do you know that?" Harry said in a low voice. "I could be a new Dark lord in the making." His green eyes glinted with power and his voice came out cold.
Lily sighed. "Don't play tricks on me!" she snapped angrily. Harry stopped his evil persona and watched her wearily.
"I know you aren't evil because I am a Poldumens. I am proficient at Poldumency, which means I can tell if I can trust someone or not. And I can trust you."
"Poldumency? That's a rare gift." Harry commented.
"Thanks." Lily said.
She continued her questioning. "Why didn't you use your real last name?" she accused.
Harry sighed. "Riddle isn't my last name." He said. "I don't want my last name to be revealed. I just picked a random name." He lied through his teeth.
Lily stared at him. "I know you're lying but I'll drop the subject for now."
Harry breathed a sigh of relief.
"So, can you teach me?" she asked casually, as she stared at her nails.
"Teach you what?" he asked, though he had an inkling of what she wanted and the answer was no.
"The magic you were using."
"That was Dark magic." He warned. "Not something you should be getting involved in."
"Why not?" Lily question coldly.
"Because if you turn like Voldemort, I wouldn't like it." Harry answered bluntly.
"I won't turn if you're there to teach me." Lily persisted, her eyes blazing with determination. "Look, if you don't teach me, a certain group of Aurors may be getting a thank you note from me. Of course I can babble sometimes and who knows what I might say."
Harry stared at her astonished. "Very Slytherin of you." He commented dryly and watched her cheeks tinged pink. "I'll think about it."
Lily nodded. "You better. I don't want to have to sit on the sidelines again injured because I wasn't strong enough to fight. You managed to duel the Dark Lord! If anyone can teach me to fight it would be you. I'm sick of reading about what happens to Muggleborns in the paper and feeling helpless! I want to stop those bastards so everyone can be safe!"
"Nice speech Ms Evans." Came a familiar voice from the door. Both Harry and Lily flung around with their wands out. At the same time they both cast a Stunning hex.
"Stupefy!" They're voices blended in as one as a streak of red shot out of both their wands. Whilst Lily's was above average and moving quite fast, Harry's was as bright as the sun, and the power present was making water from the fish tank ripple.
Albus Dumbledore listen as Lily gave a rant to the unknown boy, whose name was Harry from what he had heard, try to convince him to teach her. He had only just got there and had missed the start of their talk.
"Nice Speech Ms Evans." He commented and was surprised when both they're wands snapped around letting off two Stunners. The boy's hex was powerful and it was clear on how he managed to stay alive in his duel. He waved his wand lazily and the Stunners smashed onto a silver colored shield.
Lily lowered her wand in embarrassment. "Sorry Sir" she muttered and her cheeks flamed up. Harry kept his wand up. He couldn't be too sure that it wasn't a trick. Though he doubted that Professor Dumbledore could be beaten so easily they could have snatched one of his hairs up and used Polyjuice.
"What is the next greatest adventure?" he demanded.
Albus looked at him suspiciously. "Death." He said softly and he gazed into the eyes of Harry. He probed lightly and felt extremely strong Occlumency walls.
Harry felt his light probing and sent him a jolt of magic, which threw him out. He lowered his wand and put it away.
"Good evening Headmaster." He said softly. Dumbledore looked at him and replied. "Good Evening Mr.…I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch your name."
"Harry Smith." Harry responded to the question.
"Good Evening Mr. Smith or should I say morning. It is past midnight after all."
Harry looked sheepish before remembering where he was. This Dumbledore had not control over him.
"So Mr. Smith, I heard a rumor that you dueled with Voldemort and injured him. I am curious, I must admit, to know how a teenager was able to live when so many have died before him."
"You will have to remain curious then. My secrets are my own." Harry retorted.
"Can you not make an exception for me?" Dumbledore asked.
"Must I?" Harry said amusedly.
"It would be better for you if you did." Dumbledore said calmly.
"Ones man view on better is another mans view on terror." Harry said wittily. "I don't think you would be interested. I assume that it would be boring for you."
"Assumptions are the mother of all great mistakes." Albus cautioned.
"Yet one has to assume some truths or be bogged down by stress." Harry mused.
"Stress can help people achieve their full potential." Albus said wisely.
"Yet it can hinder progress." Harry snapped.
"The truth is a beautiful and dangerous thing. Therefore it must be treated with great caution." Albus countered,
"Yet half truths and lies can lead a man to death." Harry retorted, mind flashing to Sirius.
"Mr. Smith, if I am forced to, I will have to administer a Truth Potion." Dumbledore warned.
"No minors under 17 can be given a truth potion against their will." Harry said calmly.
"You have been involved in some suspicious activities. I am sure that I will be able to get an approval from the Wizengamot to allow this for a special circumstance."
"I'm sure that you won't be able too. It would reflect badly on the Ministry." Harry said smirking.
"If you want to continue remaining attended to whatever school you attend I suggest you tell me. Magic is not allowed out of school. I may be able to smooth things down for you." Dumbledore offered, he eyes twinkling.
"I don't go to school." Harry said.
A loud whimper caught both wizards attention. Lily was curled up to Harry snoring. Harry smiled then yawned. "Professor, can we continue this tomorrow?" he asked.
Professor Dumbledore nodded. "I will meet you some time tomorrow. Good night Mr. Smith." He disapparated with a near silent crack. Harry leant back and closed his eyes. Slowly his world faded into restless dreams.
Chapter Six
Harry woke up with a warm body pressed to him. Opening his eyes groggily, he looked down to see a mop of dark red hair curled up in his chest. Harry groaned lightly as he sat up and winced when a sharp pain flashed though his chest. He got up slowly, adjusting Lily on the bed, and grabbed his wand, waving it. A grey mist seeped out of it and it formed the time.
10:34 pm
Harry put down his wand and walked out of the room. As he was walking out, the healer from last night barged in.
"Ah, you're awake Mr. Smith." He said cheerfully. Harry just nodded, trying to wipe away the sleep with his hands.
"Not a morning person then?" the Healer asked brightly. Harry gave him a quick glare that the healer just ignored.
"Well, the good news is that you two are free to go. Professor Dumbledore would like to see you at Hogwarts. He left a note for you." He handed Harry a note and left.
Harry looked down at the scrap of paper. He unfolded it and read.
To Ms Evans and Mr. Smith
I would like to speak to you at Hogwarts. Could you two please come after the feast to my office? Mr. Smith, I would like you to come so we come finish our discussion. I know that currently you are not enrolled at Hogwarts but we could make some arrangements if you are interested.
Sincerely
Albus Dumbledore. Order of First Class. Supreme Mugwump, Head of the Wizengamot
Harry snorted. 'He probably wants to keep an eye one me so I don't turn evil.'
His snort stirred Lily and she yawned and opened her eyes.
"Hey," she said softly while she looked around. "What's that?" she gestured to the note.
"Apparently we have to meet Dumbledore when we go back to Hogwarts." Harry commented dryly.
"What do you mean 'We'?" Lily asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Exactly what I said. We, as in both of us. It looks like he offered me a place at Hogwarts If I came."
"Cool!" Lily said excitedly. She began to rub her hands together with a look of unholy glee on her face. "Imagine the stuff we could do, the people we could prank and the bastards, namely Potter and Black, we could murder."
At Harry's stern look she relented. "Oh fine." She muttered. "We don't need to kill them. Pity." she muttered softly.
"Who are Potter and Black?" Harry asked.
Lily growled. "Two of the most annoying, bigheaded, stupid, egomaniacs ever born! They're part of a group called the Marauders. They play pranks on people and bully others around." She clenched her fist.
"They act like Sarah, a enemy of mine from Muggle primary school. They think they're better than everyone else and that they are above the rules. The worse thing is that Potter likes me!" She said disgusted and wrinkled her nose.
"So Potter bullies any boy who might have had the slightest interest in me until they give up. It makes finding friends hard if they know that even a friendly handshake will get them cursed."
"Sounds like a pack of bullies." Harry said. "Why hasn't anyone put them in their place?"
"They are bullies, but they are probably the most talented and powerful wizards at Hogwarts. Except Pettigrew, he's a loner and just trails along with them."
"Mmmm," Harry mused. "Anyway, should I go to Hogwarts with you?" he asked innocently, taking the subject away from 'the infernal creation' Potter.
"You better." She warned, her green eyes flashing. "You still have to help me with my dueling. And you can't back out now." She threatened and pointed her wand at him.
"Looks like I'm being a bad influence on you." Harry said, his eyes shining.
"Or I could be a bad influence on you." She retaliated and lowered her wand and grinned. "So, will you help me or do I have to go to Dumbledore for help? Of course, I might accidentally direct the conversation to you and who knows what might come out of my mouth?"
Harry smirked. "Was that a threat?" he drawled.
"Depends." Lily drawled back.
"On what?" Harry asked silkily.
"On your answer." She countered.
"Well, when you put it like that…" Harry started, deliberately taking his time. Lily growled menacingly.
"Ok, fine, I'll help you." Harry sighed and rolled his eyes in mock despair.
Lily smirked. "Now that wasn't so hard was it?"
Harry rolled his eyes again. "Shall we leave? The hospital fumes really stink."
Hogwarts
Albus Dumbledore sat in his office. It was unlike any office one might see and it was full of portraits and little golden spinney things and little nick-knacks like that. He was sitting on his chair in deep thought.
'I do not understand how such power from a child could be overlooked. Why did the magical scanners not pick up his magical signature so he could be enrolled at Hogwarts? This could be a trick of Toms, but I doubt it. And where does Lily fit into all of this. Also, where oh where are my Lemon Drops? I could have sworn I left them in my cabinet.'
Upper Whining
Harry and Lily apparated in a small clearing outside of Muggle eyes. They walked back to Lily's house, ignoring the glances from girls as they stared in disbelief that Lily 'Queen of Nerds' Evans actually had a friend, and the friend was a boy. Lily was known for turning down offers from boys.
"Hey Evans, How much did you pay him? I mean it's not like you would actually get a friend." One girl sneered and the rest of her group giggled annoyingly.
Lily opened her mouth to retort but Harry beat her to it.
"Lily would slap you back for that remark, but she doesn't hit people whose age is higher than their IQ."
The girl swelled in fury. "Do you know who I am?" she demanded, flipping her brown hair behind her shoulders.
"Do I care?" Harry retorted.
"I'm Anna Donavon, The Mayor's daughter. I could get my father to arrest you." She sneered.
"Oh, I'm sure that I could kill anyone who tries to arrest me. I've done it before. It was quite fun to see the life ebb slowly out of the 6 year old when I killed that MI6 agents family. And the tears on his wife's face as I got my thugs to rape her was absolutely hysterical." Harry said in a low dangerous voice, his eyes flashing red for an instance. Actually, what he said was mainly Camel shit and the eye thingy was a neat trick he could do wandlessly.
No one moved and Anna paled. She stepped back in fear and gulped. She flinched at his eyes and looked away.
"Harry, I thought it was two 10 year olds that you murdered?" Lily asked, playing along.
"No." Harry sighed. "They were my sisters. I killed them ages ago." He said in a matter of fact voice.
Everyone who was standing around backed away and suddenly found excuses to leave. By the next day it would be known all over Upper Whinging from household gossip that there was a sick, demented, evil, twisted, mass murderer living here.
Harry and Lily walked into the house. Petunia was cooking and Vernon was sitting down at the table, munching away on some food. Vernon looked up and snarled.
"Where were you two last night? I won't have freaks and whores in my house!" Vernon's face was turning purple.
'Well at least we know if we break the fry pan we can fry eggs on your face!" Lily sneered. She hated Vernon with a passion. Vernon was about to yell when Harry spoke up.
"You know Vernon." Harry said. "You should lose some weight. I could do a spell for you if you want." He fingered his wand. "Of course, it would hurt a lot. It would feel like that your stomach linings were being eaten away by acid. Then, your small intestines would swell and rupture. Your ribs would crack under the pressure and your heart would eventually explode as the lungs squashed it as blood filled them."
Vernon's face went pale and he scooted as far as he could to get away from them. Petunia shrieked and clutched her bony hands together. Harry smirked and walked up the stairs leaving Lily to make one more statement.
"You know, I think I'm going to enjoy my holidays here."
She bounded up the stairs and reached her room. Once she was inside, she burst out in laughter. Harry watched her from the bedside table, a small smile on his lips. He looked around the room, scrutinizing the details of it. It was a pale blue, with a small bed and a bedside table. Her Hogwarts stuff was on a bookshelf and the window was open. With a wave of his wand, he erected Silencing charms and slammed the window shut. Once Lily was done laughing he grew serious.
"You have asked me to teach you how to duel. This means you will learn magic that is frowned upon, looked at in disgust and illegal. This magic will show you a new way in which you see the world. Magic will wield from your fingertips and you will manipulate it into doing your bidding. You do not understand the feeling of power when a battle curse leaves your wand. There is no black and white, no good or evil. There are only options and the choices you make to reach these options." Harry lectured. "If you don't want to go on with this, tell me now."
Lily said nothing. Her eyes grew hard from determination.
Harry suddenly smiled. "Okay, let's begin. We'll start with the Unforgivables. Despite needing a fair amount of power to cast these, they are the easiest dark curse to cast. That's why Thomas's Death Eaters are dangerous. Even the mediocre Death Eater can kill someone. The way to perform this spell is all in content. You have to…"
Later that Night
Lily undressed and hopped in the shower. She was exhausted and was beginning to think she had made a bad, bad choice.
Flashback
"Avada Kedavra," Harry said, and a green light buckled from his wand and hit the spider. It fell over without a trace of disfigurement on its body.
"Your turn." He said and nodded to her. Lily took a deep breath.
"Avada Kedavra," She muttered and a weak, pale green light flew from her wand. It hit the spider and it shrieked in pain.
"You have to want the object you are casting this curse on dead. Picture the person you would want dead the most and summon all of your hate and anger and release it." Harry informed. Lily took a deep breath and turned back to the spider.
She pictured it was Vernon, with his walrus like body and he piggy little eyes. She pictured his face turning purple and remembered all the times he had yelled at her and touched her. With all the hate she could feel, she struggled to remember what she was doing.
"ADVADA KEDAVRA!" She bellowed and a streak of green light slammed into the spider, vaporizing it and traveling to the wall, smashing into it, leaving a giant scorch mark.
"Good." Harry commented. Lily said nothing and panted, trying to regain her breath.
"Now, onto the Crucio.'
Flashback Over
Lily washed her arm and mulled over today's events. What she failed to hear was the bathroom door opening and someone sneaking in. They closed the door silently and locked it. Lily heard the click and turned to the door.
"VERNON!"
