Somebody had been following them since they left the maid wing. Though Kyle had been oblivious to it Lucas knew. And he had an inkling as to who it was.
Lucas retreated and walked like he was going to the prince's study. He got to the hallway pillar where he had last sensed the presence. He turned round it only to find it empty. But the presence still lingered faintly like the person had just left. More like hurried away.
The lights from the chandeliers and the early evening sun, reflected on something on the floor and it caught Lucas's eyes. He bent and picked it up. When he saw what it was he gave a wicked smile. He placed it in the pocket of his butler uniform and went in the direction of the prince's study.
As he walked his mind drifted back to Kyle.
