Chapter 4 - Adventure 3: The Tear's Of Tars

Sprinting towards the town he couldn't believe his eyes. It was the first time he had seen what felt like a familiar sight.

A person? No people? It's my lucky day! No more solo travel, they'll definitely show me the way!

"HELLOOOOO! I'M ON THE WAYYY!"

I really hit the jackpot I can see them not much further ahead. Just a few more steps and I'll get ahead. Maybe they'll even show me a shortcut if I'm lucky! I can't wait to meet them everything else so far has been shitty, Especially those things in the sky. I have to watch my back everywhere I go to make sure I don't die. If I can find even one person maybe I'll be good to rest. This town should have that much so no more stress. I can't wait to be free from the constant press of death.

Looking at the collapsed structures and scattered debris he decided to rush up ahead. Noticing the lingering damage and the scope the destruction spread, the further in he went. Staring at the fractured gates, reading a message from them.

"Huh what the does that say? City Of Tars? Why's it spelt like that? Oh wait there's more."

"For all the people who go past this gate who wish us harm, you must face the horror's of the High Fold and it's mighty arms. If you have good in your heart and your looking to survive, welcome to Tar's! Together we'll survive! Safety and freedom await, all survivors are welcomed inside."

So much for a warm welcome this city's been decimated by war. Looks like it was a nice place too. Real full with color, lots of people around, really brought the city to life. Now it's just a dead man's land. Even so I'm hoping at least one person survived that can give me a hand.

Filled with nothing but silence he slows down his pace. Taking the time to get a good look at the place. But no matter how many of the scorched buildings and creatures he saw laying across the ground, he couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right in this pace. The city walls remains, the scattered debri, he walked past the carnage and went deeper into the town. But he couldn't shake the feeling that something far more sinister happened in this place.

Damn! They really did a number on you guys. This looks like a scene right out of hell. But it couldn't of been so long ago some of these buildings still look new.

Walking over to a blue outline etched into the black grounds of the town, he reaches for it's shoe, feeling a shiver run down his spine.

"What kind of monster did this to you?"

Rising to his feet and waving his hands in the air he shouts across the city looking for a sign.

"HEYYY! IS ANYBODY OUT HERE?! I NEED SOME HELP!"

Hearing only echo reverberate throughout the city, he waited for a response but didn't get a single reply.

Looks like everyone is dead but just how did they die? I'll look around quietly for clues, no need to disturb the dead. They've been though enough already, I'll let them rest in peace and keep my eyes open, maybe someone left a sign. Either way if I keep going there's gotta be something I find.

Seeing nothing but bodies ahead and tiny, brown creatures with nine legs crawling through the ashes and the skeletons eyes. He turns his attentions to the buildings, in hope for better luck in the skies.

I say that but all I see, is the scattered remains of the dead, no matter where I turn there's bodies dried out even on the buildings high in the sky, draped over the railings with tiny things in their eyes.

Swiping his hand across the wall and dragging it down to the skeletons hand, he grabs hold of it an watches it crumble to dust in the palm of his hand.

It really doesn't take much to kill so why give them the most brutal way to die? You could of got the same results with one hit to the head. And judging from their positions, I don't think they even tried to put up much of a fight. It's disgusting work but at least it's over right?

Spotting something shining in the ground, he reaches out to grab it with his left hand, dusting off the sand, seeing a black rock in the shape of a star.

"Oh? What's this?"

He pockets the stone and proceeds down the path of carnage going worse as he passes through the place. Until he hears a sound from the other side and feels a slight change in the air.

Yeah, something's definitely there. I think I went far enough, I'll just go back from here. I know good and well that the local don't like to fight fair and it's only a matter of time before I'm next. But I won't sit around waiting and let them have their way. I can't see all this and just run away.

Planting his feet firmly in the ground, he looks at the blood stains littered on the ground then back at the lingering stains on his hands.

If I let it be somebody else's problem, they'll just find me anyway.

Tightly clenching my fist I turn to face the sound and stand my ground.

"If you want my blood, you gotta earn it! But their will be no free hand outs and I won't run away. If you come for me, you better be ready to die, because I won't let you get away!"

"After what you did to these innocent, DEFENSELESS people, trying to survive! You're monsters and not one of you deserves to be alive. So when I find you, I'll get even for them."

It's the least I can do to than you for the gift you kept safe after all this time.

Hearing a low hum in the distance, he turns his head up, around, then centered to sky. Seeing a purple mass forming overhead growing in size.

"Wait. What the fuck is that? Is … is that a star?! No way, it's too small- never mind it's getting large! I thought they we're cool with me guess there not all the same. I gotta get the hell out of here! I can't end up like them, I came to far!"

Yeah, you might wanna get out the way.

Blocking out the sky the giant, purple mass, crashes into the ground. Releasing a massive shockwave as purple light illuminates the ground with a glittering glow. Tearing apart the town as it crashes into the ground, sending buildings and bodies flying across the town and debris into the sky. Pulling them all back in to vanish into the light.

Oh fuck no, this isn't my kind of fight, time to go! This whole city's about to blow.

Just as he began running, he saw dark shadows overhead. Looking up to the sight of buildings falling apart, raining rubble above his head, littered across the sky. Crashing into the path and nearly hitting him as he runs zigzag, going side to side.

No time to think, I just gotta go. Don't get crushed, don't get smashed. It's time to run. I'm not gonna die here so I might as well have some fun. I won't get anywhere crying and sucking on my thumb.

Rushing up towards the building he does just that. Leaping into the air and running up it's side. He grabs hold of the wall as slams into it with his legs, launching himself straight into the air. Running up the side of the building, letting out a ludicrous laugh. He kicks the wall in, landing hard on the ground.

"Damn my ears are ringing, I can't hear a sound. Even so I'm having too much fun to stop here. I'm not dying today. I'll make it all the way, right to the top and get the hell out of this town! No way I'll sit here and wait for everything to come crashing down."

Rolling over on his side, he rises back to his feet. Feeling the vibrations growing stronger with each step as he charges into the wall, ramming into it with his head. Flying right through it and sliding towards the edge of building. Hanging his right side, over the ledge. Seeing the crumbling remains of the town crashing down into the ground ahead. Looking up and watching the passage further up into the building and break apart, block off the passage ahead.

"Well that's not gonna work so it's time for plan B. Screw the path I'll make a new way out just for me. There's gotta be something over here I can use andddddddd found ya! That wall's gonna have to do. I'm gonna run and jump onto it on the count of two.

Hearing intense rumbling he looks up again, seeing the pathway above quickly falling down to him.

Fuck it! There's no time to think, I'm gonna go for it!

Rushing back in an taking a step to the side, he runs forward leaping out the building. Launching himself up into the air slamming into the wall. Tightly gripping onto it as he pulls himself up, from the edge. Looking straight forward, at the sky filled with scattered pieces and parts up ahead.

No way back so forward's all I know. I don't care how low the odds, I can't stop here … not for a second. I won't die until I know the truth. Until then I'll keep going until my body drops, I don't give a DAMN what's in my way! NOTHING can make me stop.

Striding across the sky, he leaps from one piece of debri to the next. Improving his stride as he goes forward, getting lighter on his feet with each step he takes. Gradually increasing his speed along with his pace. His vision growing darker, turning everything black but the path up ahead.

This is for more than just survival. This is a race for my life. So I won't play around. As long as I'm faster, you can only destroy the town. No matter what you do now — you won't bring me down.

Turning my head back I look past the purple light, seeing a curvy figure behind. It only uttered the words "You will be mine." before vanishing from my sight. So much for revenge, as I am now I'd hardly put up a fight. If that's what I'm up against, I'll need a crazy power of my own. But you can bet your ass I'll win next time. Wait until I climb this mountain — I'll be back.

Acknowledging those words, I give a few of my own. "You'll regret not turning me to bones today. When I return things won't go your way." Now back to business then.

Would you look at that he made his first friend!

Shifting his attention back to the path ahead, his eyes began to dart around as his body found it's way to each step with ease. Bouncing around along the sky, he began moving so quickly his momentum changed again. He crossed the air without fear, No. the concept didn't even exist to him. Right now all that mattered in this world was him.

"Wow. Even my head clearer now. I wonder if this has to do with my vision somehow? Everything's moving so slow. Is it all in my head?"

"You need no fear when you can best the wind. Clear the skies and go to him."

Who's voice is that?

"You need no fear when you can best the wind. Clear the skies and go to him."

Why are you saying that again?

"You need no fear when you can best the wind. Clear the skies and go to him."

I don't know who he is, how do I find him?

Looking at the ground then high into the sky, he sees mountains in the distance standing tall alone. One glowing blue to the top standing out alone.

"I see so he must be up there with you. I'll get all my answers once I reach that light. Maybe then I'll get to see you too. Until then I keep focused, I know what I need to do."

Out the corner of his eye, he narrowly evades a rock shooting up to his side. Saved by his body's reaction, slamming his foot into it and launching him even higher into the sky. Watching as hundreds, no thousands of blue pillars shoot up into the sky. Dragging the sand down as they tower above it all, sitting high in the sky.

"No wonder your all cracked up like that. It almost took my eye out too."

At least that's what I thought until I saw that massive beast rise up from under the sand. Its massive arm's reaching out to grab the eye with its hand. Shoving it right back into its face.

"Doesn't that hurt? Just shoving your eye back in?"

Roaring with enough force to split the clouds in the sky, the pillars in the sky began to twist and bend heading right my way.

"Your damn near the height of the sky AND you can do this?! Is that even fair?!"

Running down the pillars and weaving between them, he pushes off one taking a sharp turn to him with his left hand while pushing his weight into the right to guide his fall. Forcing his body through the tight space and forcing the monster's hand. It reaches out and throws a pillar directly at him as he closes the gap.

Shit! There's nowhere to go! I have to strike back as hard as I can!

Putting everything he's got into the palm of his hand, he matches the giant's strike as it carries him across the sky. Shooting sharp pain down his right arm as he pulls away. Dragging his body across the sky as he hears its cry.

"ERRRAHHHHHARHHHHHH!"

Followed by it's onslaught of pillars flying straight at him from across the sky.

"Oh would you shut the fuck up?! You already got your eye!"

Slamming his fist together then striking it hard with his left hand, he knocks a pillar down to the ground as he winces from the pain. Rapidly punching the pillars as they approach back to the ground over and over again as shoots out from his hands.

"You're not the only one who can throw shit around like crazy! That won't win you this fight!"

Diving down through the air he runs across the beams crashing down to the ground, leaping from side to side then into the sky. Preparing to strike the creature with everything he's got, right in its broken eye. He moves with the pillars hiding among them for the right chance to strike. Only revealing himself once he got in range.

But The Blue Beast was waiting for him, Its left eye changed colors from blue to black while the right one began too turn red violently wiggle around. Striking him with its left hand before he knew it, bouncing his body up hard off of the ground, he flew high into the sky.

Barely looking up as its fist was before his eyes.
