Chapter 229 - Gods and Miracles

Pain, suffering...

This was the scene Bruce witnessed when he arrived at Arkham in his armor.

Screams of agony filled the air. Those notorious criminals, famous throughout the world, were now rolling on the ground, as if they had seen something utterly terrifying.

Currently, under Bai Ye's perception flow of 1:100 between the real and the fantasy world, each of these people had a specific, customized experience.

Normal criminals were being subjected to slow slicing in hell...

Murderous butchers were surrounded by harmonious animals in a fantasy...

Insane psychopaths were confined to an assembly line in a factory within a hallucination...

Cannibalistic gourmands were perpetually tormented by the pain of satiety in hell...

As for the serial killer who expected Batman to caress his flesh, what awaited him was having his internal organs stretched open by the Tokyo Tower…

Bai Ye propped his chin with his right fist, tilting his head as he surveyed everything before him, while Gavin felt like he was in the midst of a work of art.

"Perhaps we need to have a good talk?" Bruce observed the young man in front of him, his hoarse, low voice carrying a hint of seriousness.

"Talk? Talk about what? According to your Non-Lethal Principle, these people aren't dead yet, are they?"

After Bruce spoke, Bai Ye finally turned his head, looking at the man who could, with a mortal body, slay a Superman.

This was the first time Bai Ye had seen Bruce's appearance; the Batman image he had conjured in his illusions was actually just what he had planted in those guys' minds based on his own imagination.

"Look, here comes our Non-Lethal hero of Gotham City." Gavin said in a sarcastic tone, then immediately turned grim: "What are you doing here? Do you want to lecture us again about your so-called Non-Lethal Principle?"

Bruce ignored Gavin's words; Gavin was perhaps as crazy as the Joker in some ways, and mere words wouldn't work on him.

He just hoped to try and communicate with Bai Ye, and then calm things down before everything spiraled out of control.

"I understand your meaning very well." Bai Ye got up lightly, looking directly at the madman in front of him, who was also suppressing himself: "If you want me to stop, then don't waste your effort."

As Bai Ye spoke, he came to a mental patient rolling on the ground and stepped on his head.

"In this world, I've decided to play the role of the God of Judgment, so if someone commits a crime and is caught by me, and has no interest in me."

"Then they should die," Bai Ye stated.

Batman's expression changed slightly, and then a Batarang flew out of his hand, but with a thwack, the head under Bai Ye's foot exploded like a watermelon.

Seeing the blood splattering under Bai Ye's foot, Gavin cheered excitedly, finally getting a taste.

"You don't intend to play a god, do you?" Batman wanted to question, but then he found that the smoke bomb he had secretly hidden in his hand had disappeared, and at the same time, his body was also bound to a thick stone pillar with rope.

"When?" Batman thought he was hallucinating.

Bai Ye pulled the rope tighter and said, "To you, I'm really no different from a god."

"Anyway, as long as it's something I want to do, I haven't failed yet. Just watch quietly as I cleanse this world into the shape I want."

"The shape you want? What do you plan to do?" Batman asked urgently.

"How to do it? Only by killing!" Bai Ye's tone was cold as a blade. Then, he raised his right hand and snapped his fingers lightly. "Snap!"

With the crisp sound, all the evils in the cafeteria, which had been moaning in agony from the hallucinations, turned into vibrant Blood Flowers.

Batman stared blankly at everything in front of him, his heart filled with mixed feelings.

In Arkham Asylum, most of the patients were the ones he had sent in, bit by bit, over the years.

The feeling was incredibly intense, as if all his years of effort had suddenly bloomed before his eyes like Blood Flowers.

"Compared to the evil these people have done, death is the cheapest punishment of all," Bai Ye said, his attire still as white as snow, untouched by blood.

"Arkham has been completely cleansed. Next, the entire planet," Bai Ye announced flatly, as if discussing what to eat for dinner.

As the doors of the asylum were pushed open, Bai Ye and Gavin walked out together.

"I thought you would just kill him," Gavin said, somewhat puzzled.

"Since I'm going to be the God of Judgment, the judgments naturally need to be fair. His current actions haven't reached the point where I need to take action," Bai Ye replied.

Although Bai Ye didn't approve of Batman's actions, the guy was indeed a vigilante, just a bit disjointed in his behavior.

According to Batman's character, this guy was an all-powerful civil war phantom, with his own set of solutions for everyone. It seemed that as long as they were enemies, he could solve them, no matter how strong they were.

But judging from the comics over the years, these so-called plans mostly relied on the opponent's lowered intelligence to succeed.

And even such a powerful and invincible Batman couldn't change Gotham City's security situation after all these years, which was a serious letdown.

"So, what do we do next?" Gavin asked, very curious about Bai Ye's next plan.

"What do you think a god should do first to make the world recognize them?" Bai Ye asked with a smile.

Gavin pondered for a moment, then said, "...Show miracles?"

"Show miracles? That's a good suggestion, using powerful strength to make these people understand the gap between us." Bai Ye nodded in agreement.

Gavin couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth. So, Bai Ye didn't have any plan at all, and it was all up to him to suggest ideas.

"So, what should we do next to show these people miracles?" Gavin asked.

"What are you doing?" Bai Ye tilted his head. Didn't I already start?

"What do you mean?" Gavin was slightly stunned, but then felt the ground beneath his feet violently tremble.

It wasn't just him; the entire Gotham City was shaking violently at that moment. Then, Gavin watched with his own eyes as the light clouds in the sky began to descend.

No, it wasn't the clouds descending; it was him ascending towards the sky.

"Although I can't lift the entire Earth right now, lifting Gotham City and nearby New Jersey is no problem," Bai Ye explained beside Gavin.

The next moment, the Wayne Enterprises satellites in the sky saw the entire continent where Gotham was located rising towards the sky.

Trillions of tons of dust soared into the sky, causing the entire Americas to feel the violent tremors beneath their feet.
