Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Fight with Strongest 1

Bonus chapter for 60 power stone.

---

The wind whipped against my face as I cut through the air, the roar of thunder echoing above me. Dark storm clouds blanketed the sky — thick, heavy, and almost suffocating — their weight pressing down on the broken landscape below. Lightning flashed, illuminating the distant ruins of what must have once been a thriving city. Now it was nothing but a graveyard of steel and silence.

And at the heart of it all, two figures clashed.

Each collision between them sent shockwaves through the air — sonic booms that shattered the quiet of the dead world. Zombified Captain Marvel and Ikaris. Once symbols of power and heroism… now just mindless engines of destruction locked in an endless duel.

As I slowed my flight and hovered above the valley, I could see them clearly now. Captain Marvel's once radiant energy aura was dull, flickering with crimson sparks as rot clung to her flesh. Her eyes were lifeless, burning faintly with eerie blue light. Ikaris didn't look much better — his synthetic flesh cracked and scorched, his movements rigid but fueled by raw instinct. Both of them were monsters — and both of them were in my way.

A low chuckle escaped my lips. "So that's them, huh?"

Shalltear floated up beside me, parasol folded and resting against her shoulder. Even amidst the ruin, she looked immaculate — not a hair out of place, not a speck of dirt daring to touch her skin. She tilted her head slightly, her crimson eyes glowing faintly.

"My lord, If...." she said but I interrupted her.

"Don't worry about it. Just watch."

She nodded gracefully and drifted back, hovering a safe distance behind as I cracked my neck and clenched my fists. The quest specifically said I had to kill them by natural means — no magic, no divine power, nothing beyond my physical strength. Which, honestly, sounded like a challenge I couldn't resist.

As soon as I lowered my altitude, both of them stopped. It was like the storm itself paused in anticipation. Captain Marvel's decaying head snapped upward, those dead, glowing eyes locking onto me. Ikaris turned next, a low growl escaping his throat — more animal than man.

The air thickened with pressure.

Then they both moved.

Captain Marvel was faster — a streak of red and blue light darting up at me like a bullet. Ikaris followed immediately, golden energy erupting from his eyes like twin lasers tearing through the clouds. I raised my arm just in time — her fist collided with my forearm, and the impact cracked the air like thunder.

For a moment, my body trembled under the sheer force of her hit. Then the second attack landed — Ikaris' beams slammed into my side, and before I could adjust, the combined shockwave sent me crashing downward.

I slammed into the earth hard enough to carve a crater. Debris rained down around me, dust filling the air. For a second, everything went silent except the sound of my own breath.

Then, slowly, I stood up.

"Well," I muttered, rolling my shoulders, "they hit hard."

The ground trembled again — Captain Marvel dove down, slamming into me with another devastating punch. I twisted, grabbing her wrist mid-swing, and spun, using her momentum to throw her straight into a collapsing skyscraper. The entire structure folded inward with a deafening boom, vanishing into a cloud of dust and smoke.

Ikaris swooped down next, firing his energy beams continuously. I dashed forward, weaving between them, every beam cutting through the ground behind me. In a flash, I was in front of him. I drove my fist upward, catching him under the chin — the impact sent him flying back, crashing through two ruined buildings before disappearing into the distance.

I exhaled, steam rising from my fists. "Yeah," I murmured with a grin. "They're strong. But…"

A loud explosion cut me off. Captain Marvel burst out of the wreckage, her body glowing with unstable cosmic energy. She let out a guttural scream and darted toward me again — this time even faster.

Our fists collided midair.

The shockwave this time shattered the clouds above, lightning scattering in every direction. Her eyes blazed brighter, and she pressed forward, forcing me back inch by inch. I clenched my teeth and pushed back harder, the ground beneath us fracturing from the sheer pressure.

Then Ikaris returned, slamming into me from behind. His punch connected with my spine, sending me flying into the remains of a building. Concrete and steel erupted outward as I crashed through multiple floors before coming to a stop.

I spat out dust and laughed. "Okay… fine. You two wanna play like that?"

I blurred forward — not flying, just raw speed. My fist caught Ikaris midair, cracking his jaw clean off. Before his body could even start to fall, I spun and slammed my elbow into Captain Marvel's gut, forcing the air — or whatever she had left — out of her lungs.

She retaliated with a headbutt that rattled my vision, but I responded in kind, smashing my forehead against hers. The resulting shockwave flattened everything around us in a fifty-meter radius.

When the dust cleared, I stood alone in the center, breathing heavily but smiling wide.

Captain Marvel lay crumpled at my feet, twitching slightly. Ikaris was half-buried in rubble nearby, his regeneration already struggling to keep up.

I looked at them both and chuckled. "They are fucking unfair even after being a zombies."

Then my grin widened, eyes glowing faintly with excitement.

"But they're my quest coins."
