Chapter 194 - Threat

"Who fired that?" Rogers was also stunned.

"S.H.I.E.L.D.," Natasha replied.

Doctor Zola spoke again, "I'm so sorry, I've been stalling for time, Captain."

"You should accept your fate; it's actually better this way. We don't have much time left."

Rogers was in no mood to listen to Doctor Zola's rambling. He quickly looked around, trying to find a place to hide.

Just as Natasha and Rogers were frantically searching for a place to hide, Meng Ran cleared his throat and said, "Don't worry, I can handle this missile. You two wait here."

Before Rogers and Natasha could react, or even open their mouths, a flash of golden light filled their vision, and the Evil Ghost's figure vanished.

At the same time, with the golden light still flickering, Meng Ran's figure appeared above the dilapidated military base.

He had already seen the silhouette of the orbital missile rapidly approaching in the distance.

In fact, shortly after the missile was launched, targeting this location, Meng Ran learned about it through Little White, which was why he was so calm.

The moment he saw the missile, Meng Ran's figure disappeared again above the base, reappearing in front of the rapidly flying missile.

At the same time he appeared in front of the missile, he stretched out his leg and swiftly kicked upwards at the front of the projectile with a powerful kick.

The missile, which was flying at full speed, was forcibly altered in its flight trajectory by him, and then it flew straight upwards into the sky.

Meng Ran watched the missile ascend continuously, and when he was certain that the distance had increased to the point where an explosion wouldn't affect the ground, two beams of crimson light instantly shot from his eyes.

These two crimson beams of light shot towards the flying missile, detonating it in the high altitude far away from the ground.

Boom! Accompanied by the explosion's firelight, a loud noise also came from the sky.

Meng Ran's body began to glow with golden light again after he finished everything. With the flashing golden light, he returned to the underground space he was in a moment ago.

This shining golden light was actually Meng Ran's utilization of Odin's Power.

However, because he had the ability to teleport, he usually only carefully comprehended the other uses of Odin's Power to avoid waste and didn't use it for teleportation.

He used it just now because of a special situation, as he couldn't see the outside of the base at a glance, and the distance between the ground and the underground was also more than 10 meters.

Therefore, for safety and efficiency, he cautiously chose to use Odin's Power for teleportation.

Although Natasha and Rogers didn't go outside, they were also monitoring the missile's status through their phones.

Seeing the missile suddenly fly straight up and then explode in the air, Rogers and Natasha also breathed a sigh of relief.

If the Evil Ghost wasn't here today, the two of them could only hide underground to withstand the missile's impact, and whether they could survive would depend entirely on luck.

They hadn't expected the Evil Ghost to have such abilities; it seemed they'd underestimated its strength.

Even Natasha and Rogers were surprised by the situation, so it was even more of a shock for Doctor Zola, who was watching the scene through the monitors. He could no longer maintain his previous composure.

Seeing the Evil Ghost suddenly reappear before them, Doctor Zola exclaimed in alarm, "How did you do that? It's not scientific!"

"Are you a Mutant? But how can you have so many different and powerful abilities?"

Hearing Doctor Zola's exclamation, Meng Ran chuckled hoarsely, "So you know about Mutants. It seems you do have connections with the Monsters."

"But if you have connections with the Monsters, how can you not know about my existence and my strength? Isn't your information shared?"

Realizing he'd said too much, Doctor Zola didn't want to elaborate further after hearing Meng Ran's words.

He didn't answer Meng Ran's question, but quickly regained his composure and continued, "I was just trying to buy time. I didn't expect you to escape that missile."

"You're not getting any information from me. I absolutely won't tell you anything."

"Stay here if you dare. They know the missiles didn't work, and they won't give up. You'll be met with more missiles and heavier firepower."

"You can stay here with me and sleep underground forever."

Meng Ran wasn't fazed by Doctor Zola's threats. He shook his head and continued, "Don't try to bluff me. I've already figured out the situation here during the last few minutes."

"You're a coward, but you act like you're not afraid of death. The reason you're so confident is because of that Casket hidden deeper down."

Doctor Zola fell silent, as if someone had grabbed his throat.

He finally lost his composure, and his voice became panicked. "How... how did you know? How could you possibly know?"

Seeing the AI's panic, Meng Ran couldn't help but sneer, "I thought you'd lost your human emotions after becoming data. It seems that's not the case."

"There's no need for me to explain how I know, but that Casket should contain your core data, right? I wonder, if you lose that core data, will you still be able to survive?"

"I know the Casket is made of special metal, capable of withstanding the impact of a missile strike, which is why you're so confident."

Hearing the Evil Ghost lay bare his secrets, Doctor Zola felt a panic he hadn't experienced since becoming data. This was the first time since then that he'd felt such an emotion.

"What exactly do you want to know?" After a moment of panic, Doctor Zola quickly composed himself.

He was a smart man, and he knew the Evil Ghost wouldn't be saying these things without a reason; there was definitely something he was after.

"Talking to a smart person is easy. I want to know about the Monster situation, and about the other you. Do you understand what I mean?" Hearing Doctor Zola's words, Meng Ran knew he understood his meaning.

After hearing Meng Ran's question, Doctor Zola fell silent. From what he'd said, Zola knew he knew some of the inside story.

The Evil Ghost knowing about the Monsters proved he also knew about the Superpowered Beings, and knowing about the other him meant the Evil Ghost also knew there was a super-powerful artificial intelligence there, and he'd already guessed that it was also Zola.

"This is troublesome," Doctor Zola thought to himself. He knew that if he couldn't provide some useful information, the Evil Ghost would definitely not spare him.
