The two "gas-company workers" were none other than Lin Chen and the Flash, and the toolbox they carried contained the Mother Box.
Lin Chen had stuck on a fake beard and put on a hat.
They walked up to the front desk. The Flash flashed a business card at the beautiful receptionist wearing a white blouse, a black skirt, and high heels.
"Miss, we're from the gas company. Your building reported a leak. We're here to fix it."
After saying that, he even winked at her.
The receptionist completely ignored him and instead stared at Lin Chen in shock.
"You… you came to fix the gas too?"
Lin Chen was speechless.Skye, this adorable little agent, was really terrible at acting.
Lin Chen nodded."Mm."
Skye snapped out of it and smiled sweetly."I'll take you to the central kitchen."
As they followed her, Skye walked like she was on a catwalk, swaying her long hair and constantly glancing back at Lin Chen.
The Flash felt his heart bleed.
"I really shouldn't have come with Master… I've been completely overshadowed."
Skye suddenly leaned back, pressing into Lin Chen—and her hand brushed across his eight-pack abs.
She whispered,"Master, we're really destined to meet."
Lin Chen touched his fake beard."Skye, how did you recognize me? I even glued this beard on. I look like I survived chemotherapy."
Skye smiled seductively."Master, I look at your photos every day. I recognized you the moment you took a step."
Lin Chen nodded.Ah. Another devoted fan.Even if he turned into ashes, she'd probably still recognize him.
Skye's hands started wandering.
Lin Chen quickly stepped back."Skye, there are people here!"
She shot a glare at Flash."Master, why did you bring a third wheel? I've wanted to teach Vought a lesson for a long time. They keep smearing you!"
Flash felt like he'd swallowed a fly.So uncomfortable.Am I just a walking light bulb?
"I came to teach them a lesson this time," Lin Chen whispered.
Skye clenched her fist."Homelander is fake-virtuous, and Deep keeps harassing the front-desk girls. I've wanted to beat them for ages. And now you're doing secret operations in the basement too."
Lin Chen gently pressed her hands down."Easy… calm down."
Skye reluctantly let go."Alright, Master. Go do your thing. Homelander is garbage, so don't worry. But you owe me dinner!"
After Skye left, Flash stared at Lin Chen in awe.
"Master… that girl was incredible. You really are unbelievable."
Lin Chen shrugged."I didn't do anything."
"Let's put the Mother Box on the superhuman floor. Or better—right outside Homelander's door."
Flash nodded.
They reached the top floor. No guards even noticed them. Flash zipped Lin Chen straight to Homelander's door, and they quietly placed the Mother Box there.
Just as they were about to leave—
Starlight walked over from the hallway.
Flash nearly bolted, but Lin Chen grabbed him.
Starlight's eyes lit up. She winked at Lin Chen, pretended not to see either of them, and walked past.
Flash was stunned.
That charm… it was terrifying.
They exited Vought Tower.
Flash sighed deeply.
"Master… the two most beautiful women in the whole building are both into you…"
Lin Chen patted his shoulder."What about Queen Maeve?"
Flash shook his head."She's not my type."
Lin Chen went to a café across the street, ordered two coffees, and sat down to watch.
While sipping, he called Black Widow.
"Dear Natasha Romanoff, what time do you get off work today?"
"Six."
"Come pick me up after work. I'm at the café near Vought Tower."
"Vought Tower? What bad thing are you doing now?"
"Definitely something good. And there's a show coming."
"Wait there. I'm coming."
Lin Chen hung up and chatted with Flash.
"You're broke?" Lin Chen asked."Go deliver food. With your speed, you'd dominate the whole industry."
Flash was stunned.
That actually… made sense.
Half an hour later, a red limited-edition sports car stopped outside. Black Widow stepped out in a tight black skirt.
Every man on the street turned to look.
Flash swallowed."Master… that kind of woman… you really can't let her go."
Lin Chen waved."Dear, over here."
Black Widow walked over and sat beside him.
"You bastard. You haven't come to see me in ages."
"It's only been a week. I've been busy."
"Busy my ass. You were out chasing girls again."
Lin Chen put his arm around her shoulders and whispered,"I've recently mastered an endless spell."
"So shameless!"She punched him.
Flash was drowning in jealousy.
"H-hello, sister-in-law… my name is Barry."
Black Widow smiled."Natasha Romanoff. Don't learn from him. He's a scumbag."
Flash thought:If being a scumbag worked this well, he'd happily be one.
Meanwhile, Homelander returned to his lounge.
He saw a strange box outside his door, energy pulsing from it.
"What is this?"
He looked through it with X-ray vision."A weird cube… it's vibrating?"
Seeing no one around, he took it inside and opened it.
The Mother Box pulsed in his hands.
"What the hell is this thing? And who left it here?"
He checked the surveillance—but Skye had already wiped it.
Annoyed, Homelander fired heat vision at the box.
Boom!
The Mother Box erupted in roaring energy. A massive beam of teleportation light blasted through the ceiling and into the sky.
"What the hell?!"
A demonic voice echoed.
"Mother… you have summoned me again."
Steppenwolf appeared.
He glared at Homelander.
"Hand over the Mother Box. Stop wasting my time. I am here to conquer Earth."
"Mother Box?" Homelander scoffed."This is mine."
His eyes gleamed."So you're an alien trying to conquer Earth? Then I get to save the world."
His popularity had been dropping lately because of Lin Chen. This was a perfect chance to reclaim the spotlight.
Homelander grabbed the Mother Box and flew outside, landing near Vought Tower.
Lin Chen hugged Black Widow.
"The real show has begun."
She rested her head on his shoulder."You're such a bad guy. This is exactly how I used to operate."
Flash nodded."Yeah. Total套路."
Steppenwolf smashed down from the sky, cracking the street.
Lin Chen's coffee nearly spilled.
Steppenwolf looked down at Homelander in disdain.
"Human. You are no Kryptonian."
Homelander's eyes went cold.He hated being compared to Superman.
"Everyone be careful!" he shouted loudly."This alien is here to conquer Earth!"
