He sat in his room tinkering with his gadgets as the last of the sun sets. The tv sits across the room from him playing the news, he looks up from his work bench to see the news.
"A sudden increase in missing children, charred corpses, and drained husks terrorize the city and it's people. The police have issued a curfew from 8 pm to 6 am for an undetermined amount of time." The news said before cutting to a speech by the chief of police.
"Stupid... if they really cared they would be out there instead of talking on tv." He said as he eyed the chief's appearance on tv before finishing up his gadget and attaching it to himself.
After that fall it was pretty busted up, had to buy materials to replace most of it but it should be functional now...
He put his mask and hood on before jumping out of the window. He rushed across the rooftops as his enhanced senses scanned the surrounding area. The various sensors in his body for each sense works to nullify intense inputs down into gentle ones preventing sensory overload and allowing him to percieve his surrounding perfectly. His ears pick up on a conversation between cops several blocks away causing him to change directions towards it.
He perches himself atop the roof above where the police and detectives are working. Yellow tape wraps around the area washed in blue and red lights as the detectives examine the burnt corpses. His ears pick up multiple converdations occuring simultaneously but one in particular catches his attention.
"She- she was perfectly fine when she came back from school... but when i entered her room to get her ready for bed she was just... gone!" The mother said to the cop between gasps for air.
He rushes across the rooftops stopping outside of a small apartment building where she was talking to the officer. He slinked down the side of the building hanging by a bar as he looked into the window where he saw a little girls empty room. As he hung on to the bar with one arm he silently opened the window with the other before slipping inside. He silently searched the room before finding a diary in the little girls dresser. He reads the most recent writings and finds out the girl had been seeing a monster in her window every night for some time now but her mother wouldnt listen.
I guess all parents fail...
He slips out through the window and examines the area around the window finding the bar he has been hanging on is bent and the board on the outside of the window is nearly torn off. His gaze wanders down and falls upon a damaged section of the alley road just below the window. He drops down landing beside it to examine closer.
Something heavy fell... maybe... a ton... but what weighs a ton and could still get up there...
He jumps up to the roof just as an officer turned the corner to do perimeter. He rushed across the rooftops through the night as he scrolled on his phone. He scrolled through news headlines for multiple missing children cases and the dots began connecting.
He seems to only target little girls, and another one goes missing every three days...that gives me two days to stop this fucker...
In the morning he arrives at school as usual and like normal watches videos on his laptop for most of the day. However instead of watching combat videos he is watching videos on tracking and hunting. About half way through the class both he and John raised their hands simultaneously.
"What is it you two?" The teacher asked.
"Oh, well i needed to use the restroom." Vance answered as he put his arm down.
"Same." John added.
"Alright, no playing in the restroom." The teacher said before going back to teaching.
Vance and John walked down the hall towards the restroom, their feet tap lightly against the smooth ground. They enter the restroom and stand at the urinals leaving one empty between them. As they hold their junks in their hands to piss John speaks up.
"I want to do it." John said.
"You dont just say that to another guy while you're holding your dick." Vance responded.
"You know what i mean! I want to become a vigilante..." John retorted.
"It's dangerous, there's a reason i look like this, and you may end up worse." Vance said lifting his shirt exposing his wounds before lowering his shirt back down.
"I know but I-" John tried to speak but was cut off by the lights being shut off and smoke begins filling in from the vents.
"Hah... they're here." Vance said as he opened up the vent and pulling out a bag filled with gear.
"Who is here?" John asked.
"The government." Vance answered as he tossed John a spare mask.
"How do they know we're here, and that we're Meta-Humans?" John asked.
"They may suspect that im the one who destroyed that locker like it was cardboard." Vance answered as he got suited up.
John put the mask on before they both stepped out into the hallway where their vision is obscured by smoke and a bunch of multi colored flashing lights. A drone carefully flew past and was quickly crushed by vance before returning to doing what they planned. They traverse the smoke and lights before stopping at a turn where Vance hears something. Vance signals to John to stop and begins listening. He hears footsteps and the person speaking into a radio.
"Check." The soldier said before Vance lunged at him knocking him out in one blow.
Two floors down at the front doors a squad is setting up a small base of sorts, one soldier sits at a desk controlling multiple drones simultaneously via neural link. Multiple soldiers stand guard while others set up gear but in the middle of it all a man stands on the phone.
