Chapter 184: Blake's Assist
Ryan obtained the final badge, qualifying for the Ever Grande Conference. Next up was the battle with Sapphire.
Juan had clearly gone easy on Sapphire, not sending out his main Pokémon. After all, Sapphire was his grand-disciple's girlfriend, so being lenient was understandable.
Thus, Sapphire also obtained the final badge and qualified for the Ever Grande Conference. After some discussion, the group decided to set off by boat, first to Pacifidlog Town, then back to Slateport City for the Grand Festival.
The Grand Festival would begin before the Ever Grande Conference, and with over two months to go, there was no need to rush. The Grand Festival was only two weeks away, so with Ryan and his group's pace, there was no need to hurry; a leisurely boat trip wouldn't take long.
By the time Ryan and his group boarded the boat and set off for Pacifidlog Town, something serious was happening with Team Plasma in the Unova region.
Team Plasma's research lab was under complete lockdown. Colress's face darkened as he shouted, "Are you protecting the lab just for show? That Pokémon was meant for our king, and it was stolen so easily! Capture the thief immediately!"
Team Plasma members lowered their heads, barely daring to breathe. Upon hearing the order, they scattered, searching for the intruder.
But they failed to notice a figure quietly crouching in the ventilation duct above them. He watched the Plasma members leave through the gap before crawling forward.
If Ryan were here, he'd probably recognize him. This was Blake, the protagonist of Black 2 and White 2. In the Pokémon Adventures manga, he's an officer of the International Police, holding the rank of Superintendent, and is Looker's superior. His codename is "Black 2."
Blake's primary mission was to keep an eye on Team Plasma, but after infiltrating Team Plasma, he discovered they were cultivating a Pokémon and then mechanically modifying it into a terrifying weapon. Blake took advantage of a security lapse and overwhelmed a pair of guards, snatching the Pokémon away.
As he crawled through the ventilation duct, he glanced at the Poké Ball in his right hand and muttered, "Don't worry, I'll get you out. Even though you're an artificially revived Pokémon, they can't just reshape you however they want. If you need somewhere to go, stay with me."
The Poké Ball shook twice before settling, a gesture of agreement. If Ryan knew about this, he'd probably curse: "You stole someone else's Pokémon, and you have the nerve to let it follow you!"
This also indirectly reflected Team Plasma's treatment of this Pokémon. If it weren't disgusted by Team Plasma's actions, how could it have just left with a stranger based on a single promise?
Seeing the Poké Ball stop moving, Blake put it back on his belt and quickly made his way through the ventilation duct to a safe room.
He had already devised an evacuation plan before infiltrating Team Plasma; otherwise, he wouldn't have risked stealing the Pokémon. Reaching the corner of the room, he easily lifted a metal plate from the floor, revealing a dark passage beneath.
Blake jumped down, covered the plate above, and followed the tunnel he had dug, escaping unnoticed from Team Plasma's facility. He then entered the sewer system through the passage. When he emerged, he had reached the sewer's exit, with the ocean just ahead.
Blake looked down and saw his speedboat still waiting. Blake took a deep breath, leaped, and dove into the sea. He then swam to the speedboat and sped away from Castelia City.
After depleting the speedboat's fuel, Blake drifted on the surface of the sea. He retrieved the Poké Ball and released the Pokémon. This Pokémon was none other than Genesect, a powerful Pokémon specially modified for combat, revived from a fossil by Team Plasma and transformed into Genesect!
Genesect was a giant insect, clad in purple armor. Mounted on its back was a formidable cannon capable of accepting Drives of various types. It could also transform into a disc form for flight.
A red Burn Drive was clearly visible on this Genesect's cannon, proof of its successful modification.
Blake looked at Genesect and said, "Thank you for trusting me. I'm planning to visit Lacunosa Town next. Can you take me there?"
Genesect nodded, then transformed into its disc form, floating in the air. Blake leaped onto Genesect's body, and Genesect immediately took off. Following Blake's directions, they sped towards Lacunosa Town.
Two weeks later, Genesect brought Blake to the northwest of Lacunosa Town, where the famous Giant Chasm was located. According to Lacunosa Town legend, the Giant Chasm was formed by an ancient meteorite impact, and within the town, rumors circulated that approaching the chasm would bring disaster.
A monster from the meteorite has terrorized the town, bringing freezing winds every night to prey on humans and Pokémon. A massive wall has been erected to protect the residents, and people are forbidden from leaving at night.
However, Blake's investigation reveals that Team Plasma has obtained two strange orbs. Unbeknownst to them, after they took the two orbs, a third orb appeared in their place. Blake then took it with him. However, this orb always emits a chilling aura. Inspired by the legends of Lacunosa Town, Blake decides to return it to the Giant Chasm, hoping to see if this will change anything.
Blake enters the cave and returns the orb to its original location. Suddenly, the orb glows brilliantly, and black and white energy appears in the cave, gradually absorbed by the orb, its glow intensifying. Then, a massive figure suddenly materializes, and a powerful freezing aura erupts.
Genesect steps in front of Blake, blocking the frigid air. In an instant, the entire cavern transformed into a world of ice and snow. The behemoth itself was frozen solid, transformed into a massive block of ice, standing motionless.
Blake frowned as he gazed at the massive creature within the ice, saying, "Could this be the legendary monster? But why is it freezing itself as well?"
At that moment, in a dark corner of the cavern, a man with narrowed eyes and trembling hands dialed his cell phone. He simultaneously returned his Aegislash, which had been reduced to an ice sculpture and rendered unable to battle.
"Hello," Ryan's voice came from the other end of the line.
"Hello, Boss. The guy you told me to keep an eye on has appeared," the man said.
"I see. Good work, Frost," Ryan said.
"By the way, boss, can I get a raise when I get back this time? I've been in this godforsaken place for so long. Even if I haven't accomplished much, I've definitely put in the effort," Frost said helplessly.
"Don't worry, you'll get one. But keep a close eye on that guy. Don't—"
Ryan hadn't finished his words when he heard an explosion, followed by a series of crackling sounds, and then a dragon's roar from the phone. Ryan swallowed his last words, because there was no need.
Damn it, who the hell released Kyurem?!
Having already arrived in Slateport City, Ryan yelled into the phone, "Get out of there immediately, as far as you can!"
He then hung up and told Ruby and the others, "Something's come up. I have to go to Unova."
As he spoke, a white orb burst out of Ryan's backpack, emitting intense heat and white light. When the light faded, a giant white dragon-type Pokémon appeared on the Slateport City dock.
Ryan didn't care about anything else and leaped directly onto the white dragon. The white dragon's tail suddenly emitted a blue light. The next second, it shot straight into the sky and flew rapidly towards the Unova region, leaving behind a stunned crowd and the somewhat bewildered Ruby and the other two.
