Chapter 185: Three Dragons Converge
Frost stared at the now-disconnected phone call in silence, then obeyed Ryan's orders to evacuate immediately. Before leaving, however, he glanced at the young man who had shattered the giant beast's ice with a single blast, and a thousand curses ran through his mind!
Blake was also a little confused by the current situation. He had simply wanted to see the giant beast within the ice more clearly. He had Genesect cut some ice to give him a better view.
However, the ice seemed fragile, and Genesect's Techno Blast was quite powerful. A single blast shattered the ice, releasing Kyurem from within.
Kyurem roared to the heavens, venting its rage: "I've been imprisoned for nearly a hundred years, and now you dare disturb my slumber! You're asking for death!"
Kyurem exhaled a sudden Glaciate, hurling it at Genesect and Blake. Blake immediately commanded Genesect to fire a Techno Blast.
The two collided, canceling out the damage, but the next second, Kyurem unleashed an even more powerful Blizzard, freezing Genesect in place. Kyurem then blasted a deadly Ice Beam at Blake.
"Zekrom, Fusion Bolt!" a voice called out.
Zekrom's tail glowed blue, its body enveloped in a corona of purple electricity. Zekrom then slammed into Kyurem, sending it flying and saving Blake.
N then entered the cave. He looked at Kyurem, who was rising, and said, "We didn't mean to disturb your slumber. If you're dissatisfied with this world, then will you join me in changing it, shattering its existing rules and creating a world where Pokémon can be free?"
Kyurem didn't respond, but instead lunged at Zekrom. It was incomplete, having known its incompleteness from the moment it was born. Therefore, it needed the power of the other two dragons to complete itself!
Zekrom used Fusion Bolt again, sending it flying. N frowned as he watched Kyurem's appearance.
Kyurem was a bipedal, gray-blue Pokémon with a distinctive ice-blue spiked crest, pale yellow eyes with no visible pupils, and a yellow horn on its head.
Its long neck and body were gray, and its two slender arms, each with two claws, connected to two icy wings. The wings ended in a flat section with two ice spikes on each.
Kyurem's body was asymmetrical, with its left horn, wing, and lower jaw slightly longer than the right.
But now that Kyurem had regained its footing, the ice wings shattered, revealing two pairs of linear wings connected to the ice spikes. These wings aimed at Zekrom, and two purple beams of light shot out from the two ice spikes.
Zekrom immediately took flight to avoid them, but Kyurem fired two more beams even faster, successfully hitting Zekrom. Zekrom immediately showed a pained expression.
"Reshiram, Fusion Flare!" Ryan's voice rang out.
Reshiram unleashed a massive fireball, surrounded by two rings of fire. It collided directly with Kyurem, creating a powerful explosion that ripped apart the upper rock of the Giant Chasm. Reshiram, carrying Ryan, slowly descended.
While the hero's entrance was impressive, N couldn't help but laugh at Ryan's appearance.
"Laugh all you want! If we hadn't arrived in time, your Zekrom would have been absorbed by Kyurem," Ryan said, clutching his disheveled hair.
Reshiram had no other choice but to show Ryan the true speed of a Legendary Pokémon. They made the journey from Hoenn's Slateport City to Unova's Lacunosa Town in record time. The result was that Ryan's hair was blown into a complete mess, and his clothes, if not for Ryan's aura protection, would have been completely tattered.
He looked even more miserable than a vagabond. He also suffered severe internal injuries, and his body's healing abilities were rapidly working on recovery. It would likely take some time for him to fully heal.
N nodded and said, "Thank you for coming. What is the origin of this Kyurem? How could it possibly absorb Zekrom?"
"Kyurem is one with Zekrom and Reshiram. You've studied the ancient texts, so you should understand," Ryan said.
"Yes. Zekrom and Reshiram were once a single Dragon Pokémon, serving under the command of an ancient hero. The hero's two sons were both ambitious, but their ideals diverged. So, the Dragon split into Zekrom and Reshiram, each helping the two brothers in their struggle. But unexpectedly, a third dragon remained.
This Kyurem should be stronger than the two we have," N said gravely.
"We'll have to fight to find out. Reshiram, Draco Meteor!" Ryan said.
"Zekrom, Draco Meteor!" N shouted.
Two meteor showers struck Kyurem directly, sending it hurtling into the sky. With a loud explosion, Kyurem plummeted to the ground, wounded and seemingly defeated.
"So vulnerable?" N frowned.
"Don't be careless, Reshiram, Blue Flare!" Ryan shouted.
A red light suddenly erupted from Reshiram's tail, and a powerful blue flame shot out from its mouth, aimed straight at Kyurem. Kyurem instantly rose, its two pairs of linear wings piercing the ground. The Blue Flare successfully hit Kyurem, but the ice on the ground moved like flowing water, instantly freezing the lower halves of Zekrom and Reshiram.
Kyurem was panting, but its goal had been achieved!
"This is bad!" Ryan shouted.
With a flick of his Ultra Ball, Charizard appeared. Ryan shouted, "It's up to you, Charizard. Use your flames to help Zekrom melt the ice!"
Charizard immediately fired a Flamethrower at Zekrom, helping it melt the ice. At the same time, Ryan flung a Revival Herb towards Blake, saying, "Hurry up and restore Genesect. Come help us, or we won't be able to defeat Kyurem after the fusion!"
Blake caught the Revival Herb and quickly broke the ice from Genesect's body, feeding it the herb.
But it was too late. Kyurem began to absorb Zekrom's power. Reshiram had no choice but to stop melting and blast Kyurem with Fusion Flare. But Kyurem took the blast head-on, forcibly transforming Zekrom into a dark sphere and absorbing it directly into its body.
"Damn it, this is serious!" Ryan said helplessly.
N watched helplessly as the scene unfolded before him. For the first time, his inner resolve wavered: "If only I had other powerful companions, I could save Zekrom!"
Kyurem absorbed Zekrom, its form radiating light and gradually transforming. When the light faded, a Black Kyurem, a fusion of Zekrom and Kyurem, emerged.
Black Kyurem raised its upper body and stood on two feet. Its right ice horn was replaced by a horn similar to Zekrom's. Pupils could be seen in its eyes.
Its right forelimb was replaced by a claw similar to Zekrom's, and its left forelimb was a replica of its right forelimb made of ice. Its original wings retracted into its shoulders, and above them grew a right wing similar to Zekrom's, and a left wing—a replica of its right wing made of ice. Black skin covered its collar, back, and face.
The ice on its tail completely disappeared, becoming a curved three-pronged tail, encased in a black organ that generated electricity, similar to Zekrom's tail.
Black Kyurem roared, and brought its claws together, creating a light blue-white ball of energy covered with electric current that gradually grew larger. It then released its claws and fired the energy at the frozen and immobile Reshiram.
Reshiram was hit by the Freeze Shock and was directly frozen into an ice sphere, unable to move.
"Genesect, Techno Blast!" Blake said.
A red beam hit Black Kyurem, but was immediately frozen solid by another Freeze Shock. Black Kyurem walked directly towards Ryan and N. Charizard gritted its teeth and blocked Black Kyurem's path.
Ryan smiled bitterly and said, "This is serious. We might all die here."
N also smiled bitterly: Is what he's been pursuing the right path?
