Chapter 190 - Chapter 190: Convergence at Forina

Chapter 190: Convergence at Forina

The Ultra Ball successfully captured Meloetta, who had lost the ability to battle. Meloetta transformed into red light and entered the Ultra Ball. The ball wobbled a few times before clicking shut with finality.

Ryan walked over, picked up the Ultra Ball, and smiled. "I didn't expect you to keep your word. Come on out, Meloetta."

Ryan released Meloetta and immediately took out a supply of Potions, Full Restores, and other medicines to treat both Meloetta's and Charizard's injuries. Both Pokémon had fought with everything they had, and their injuries were severe. For at least the next few days, they wouldn't be able to engage in battles against Legendary Pokémon.

Meloetta looked at Ryan as he gently cleaned its wounds, and a soft smile crossed its face. At least this human was kind and strong—following him might not be so bad after all.

"Special Side Quest Complete. Rewards: 100,000,000 PokéDollars, 100 Rare Candies, 50 PP Max, 5 Master Balls, 5 Complete Mega Stone Sets (trainer's choice), Feature Unlocked: Legendary Pokémon Training System."

With Meloetta's acknowledgment of Ryan as its trainer, the system determined the special side quest was complete. The generous rewards made Ryan ecstatic, but the most important gain was the Legendary Pokémon Training System!

Ryan immediately accessed the new feature. The system interface explained that Pokémon could determine their own Origin Power path, and the system would assist the Pokémon in comprehending their origin.

Each attempt cost 100,000 PokéDollars, consuming one Rare Candy and one PP Max, allowing the Pokémon to attempt origin comprehension with a 20% success rate. With a Plate fragment, the success rate increased to 50%, and with a complete Plate, the success rate reached 80%.

Worth it! That was Ryan's immediate thought. Some of his Pokémon hadn't even begun to grasp the concept of Origin Power yet, but the system could directly help them comprehend it. Although the success rate wasn't guaranteed, with sufficient resources, he could attempt it repeatedly!

Moreover, Ryan had just obtained numerous Plate fragments, which could easily boost the success rate to 50%, and for Water-type Pokémon, all the way to 80%!

Ryan decided to test it immediately. Currently, the Pokémon closest to grasping Origin Power was Pheromosa. Ryan released Pheromosa and, following the system's instructions, placed his hands on Pheromosa's head.

Pheromosa seemed to sense something and closed its eyes. The system promptly responded.

"Origin Power Confirmed: Speed Essence, Bug-type alignment. Inject Bug-type Plate fragment?"

"Inject," Ryan confirmed.

"Insect Plate fragment injected. Origin comprehension success rate now 50%. Payment processed. Initiating comprehension sequence."

As the system's notification ended, a beam of light entered Pheromosa's body. Pheromosa shuddered, and in that instant, it grasped its Origin Power. Its aura transformed immediately, successfully comprehending the essence of speed.

"Nice, one try and it worked. Not bad luck at all." Ryan checked Pheromosa's updated data—its classification had changed to Pseudo-Legendary status.

Ryan laughed with satisfaction. Now he could systematically train Pseudo-Legendary level Pokémon! He also planned to offer this Origin Power comprehension opportunity to his guild's elite members, though only after they'd accumulated sufficient merit through missions and battles.

Meloetta, standing beside him, stared in shock at Pheromosa. She hadn't expected it to reach the threshold of Legendary status in an instant, achieving what took many Legendary Pokémon years of growth to accomplish. Meloetta looked at Ryan with a complicated expression, wondering just how far the human she'd chosen to follow could go.

Ryan recalled the excited Pheromosa and then selected from the five complete Mega Stone sets the system had provided. Ryan currently possessed sets for Charizard, Beedrill, Mewtwo, Aerodactyl, and Tyranitar, and now had the right to choose five more sets.

Ryan first chose a Mawilite set for Lillie, since Mawile would be her ace Pokémon, and he naturally wouldn't be stingy with her. Next came his own Pokémon.

Ryan selected four sets: Metagrossite, Salamencite, Gengarite, and Gyaradosite. Thinking he wasn't short on funds, and considering the upcoming Ever Grande Conference, he purchased the remaining Mega Stones he needed as well: Sceptilite, Blazikenite, Galladite, and Altarianite. The system processed them, and all 13 Mega Stones were set into a specialized bracelet alongside his Key Stone.

Ryan packed up his belongings and prepared to head to the nearest town to catch a flight back to Hoenn. But just then, his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID—it was an internal guild number. He answered, "This is Ryan, what's the situation?"

"Hello, boss, this is Sakura. A Jirachi crystal cocoon has been discovered in Forina, but a major conflict has broken out. What should we do?" A clear female voice came through the line.

Ryan frowned and asked, "How many people? Which factions are involved? And what's the current situation?"

"Approximately a thousand trainers from various factions, plus numerous independents. The major players are our Mercenary Guild, Team Rocket, the Pokémon League, Team Magma, and Team Aqua has gotten involved as well. Right now, no one's making a move because whoever strikes first becomes everyone else's target," Sakura explained.

"Hold your position. I'll be there shortly," Ryan said.

"Um, boss, aren't you in Unova right now?" Sakura sounded confused.

"...Don't worry about the details. Just wait for me—about ten minutes, and I'll be there." Ryan thought of a particular experience he'd never forget.

After hanging up, he reluctantly recalled his exhausted Charizard. He took out the Light Stone and said, "Reshiram, I need your help."

The Light Stone glowed brilliantly, and Reshiram materialized before Ryan. Ryan climbed onto Reshiram's back, patted its neck gently, and said, "Thanks for the assist. Also, could you slow down just a bit and protect me from the wind pressure? Last time nearly killed me."

Reshiram let out a few amused growls, as if saying: You survived, didn't you? Don't complain when you're the one in a hurry.

With that, the red glow on its tail turbine blazed intensely, and the incredible thrust propelled Reshiram into the sky. Ryan was absolutely certain that with its tail jet acceleration, Reshiram was without question the fastest Pokémon in existence!

Reshiram claimed it didn't care about Ryan's well-being, but it actually gathered energy to create a protective barrier against the intense wind pressure, though its speed didn't decrease much. At supersonic velocity, Reshiram left a blazing contrail across the sky, shooting directly toward the Hoenn region.

Meanwhile, back in Forina, Sakura ended the call. The other three members of her team gathered around and asked, "Sakura, what did the boss say?"

"Uh, he told us to hold position for about ten minutes. He'll be here soon." Sakura looked completely bewildered.

The other three were equally confused: their boss was still in Unova! How could he possibly reach Hoenn in just over ten minutes?!

But there was no time to dwell on the confusion. Lycoris walked over and asked, "What's the word from the boss? The League forces are preparing to make their move."

"The boss said he'll arrive shortly," Sakura relayed.

"I see. Organize our forces and prepare for immediate engagement," Lycoris said calmly.

Wait, that's it? You're just accepting that?! Are you serious?! The four operatives were even more bewildered than before.
