Chapter 193: Jirachi and the Unown Totem
According to Jirachi, it can help others have good luck. However, this comes at a price. A person's good luck and bad luck are limited; if good luck is overdrawn, then bad luck will be amplified.
Conversely, if bad luck is overdrawn, then good luck will be amplified.
Ryan instantly realized this, recalling the good luck he had wished for using Jirachi's wishing tag. Jirachi confirmed Ryan's thoughts, saying: "You used the wishing tag to amplify your good luck, and correspondingly, you will definitely face a very dangerous situation later."
Ryan was silent, then said, "Can I wish to avert this danger?"
Jirachi shook its head: "This is also included in good luck. So I don't recommend you wish like that. You can try other wishes."
Lillie held Ryan's hand with some worry. Although she couldn't understand Jirachi's words, when she heard Ryan want to wish to avert the crisis, she immediately knew that Ryan was in trouble. She whispered, "Ryan, are you in some trouble?"
Ryan shook his head and said, "It's nothing, I can handle it."
Then, Ryan said seriously, "Then I wish that Lillie and I will have a grand wedding."
Ryan had also found a loophole; since there was a crisis, at least he could attend his wedding safely. Lillie blushed instantly upon hearing Ryan's wish: Was this a confession?! Yes, this must be a confession!
Ruby and Sapphire were also incredibly jealous. Ruby rubbed the goosebumps on his arms and complained, "Enough, you two! Go show off your love somewhere else. Can't we even eat?!"
Ryan laughed and squeezed Lillie's hand, saying, "Ruby, let's make a promise. When we have children in the future, let's become in-laws."
"Boom!" The two girls instantly had billowing white steam rising from their heads, their faces flushed bright red. Even Ruby, who was sometimes shameless, blushed with embarrassment. He awkwardly said, "Kids are too young. We're only ten years old. Let's discuss this topic at least ten years from now."
Jirachi looked at their expressions and listened to their thoughts, feeling a sense of relief. In the past, people wanted to rule the world and create powerful legendary Pokémon. But the people it encountered now all had their own dreams, and their wishes were beautiful. So, what reason did it have to refuse?
With its own beautiful blessings, Jirachi opened the "True Eye" on its abdomen. Seeing the True Eye activate, Ryan repeated his wish: "I hope I will have a grand wedding with Lillie!"
Words appeared on the wishing tag on Jirachi's head, and Ryan's wish appeared on it. After making his wish, Ryan said to Lillie, "Lillie, you should make a wish too. And Ruby, you guys, just make all three wishes."
"Can we do that too?" Sapphire asked.
"Of course, we'll be in-laws in the future," Ryan laughed.
Ruby and Sapphire rolled their eyes at Ryan. Lillie thought for a long time and said, "I hope Ryan is safe and sound."
"Wait, that doesn't count!" Ryan reacted instantly and hurriedly said.
But it was too late; Lillie's words had already appeared on a wishing tag. Ryan was so anxious he was jumping up and down: although a person's luck is fixed, Jirachi can extract the good fortune of a willing person and add it to Ryan.
In other words, by saying Lillie's words, Jirachi could extract Lillie's luck and force it onto Ryan. Although Ryan knew that Lillie was very lucky, no one knew what would happen to her if she lost her luck.
Lillie initially didn't understand the reason for Ryan's anxiety, but upon hearing his explanation, she smiled and said, "It's alright, I've always been lucky since I was little. It's just that I'm relying on you, Ryan. No problem, no problem. Besides, I think meeting you is the luckiest thing that's ever happened to me!"
Ryan was speechless, but his tight grip on Lillie's hand was the best proof. Ruby and Sapphire didn't tease Ryan and Lillie either. Ruby glanced at Sapphire and said, "May all lovers in the world be united in marriage."
The last wish also appeared on the wishing tags. The three wishing tags floated into the air, and Jirachi's True Eye closed. The three wishing tags gradually turned into starlight and disappeared. Jirachi offered its most sincere blessings to these three wishes.
No one dislikes beautiful things, and Jirachi was no exception. Losing the three wishing tags also meant that its mission after awakening was complete. After seven days, it would enter a long slumber.
Ryan knew about this and looked at Jirachi with some sadness. Jirachi seemed to sense Ryan's feelings and gently stroked his face, saying telepathically that this was its destiny, everything it had accepted after comprehending its origin.
"Reshiram, do you have any ideas?" Ryan asked the legendary dragon, hoping it might know something about Jirachi's fate.
Reshiram pondered for a moment, then communicated telepathically with Ryan about ancient legends it remembered.
"Wait... the Ruins of Alph," Ryan said suddenly, his eyes widening. "The Unown space!"
Ryan recalled something crucial. When he had visited the Ruins of Alph in Johto, he'd encountered that mysterious dimension filled with Unown. Celebi had mentioned that it was a legendary Pokémon space, but the legendary Pokémon had died, so it was abandoned.
"That's it!" Ryan exclaimed. "Jirachi's power... it's connected to the Unown somehow. If we can reach that space, maybe Jirachi won't need to sleep for a thousand years!"
Jirachi and Lillie both looked at Ryan. Ryan smiled and said, "Little guy, you don't need to fall into a deep sleep anymore. I've found a way!"
Ryan grinned and said, "Let's rest today. Tomorrow we'll head to Johto, and then figure out how to access the Ruins of Alph. We need to move fast—Jirachi only has seven days!"
Facing Ryan's confident smile, the three of them had no idea what kind of adventure awaited them tomorrow.
