Chapter 192 - Chapter 192: Making a Wish

Chapter 192: Making a Wish

Lycoris, accompanied by four operatives, approached Ryan. Lycoris said, "Boss, now that we've obtained Jirachi, may I make a wish?"

"You wish to revive Aster, right?" Ryan said calmly.

"That's right. Boss, please." With that, Lycoris dropped to her knees before Reshiram with a heavy thud.

Ryan sighed and dismounted from Reshiram. Jirachi looked at the girl kneeling before Ryan and chirped in confusion. Ryan asked, "Jirachi, can you revive the dead?"

Jirachi shook its head sadly, and Lycoris's expression instantly turned to despair. From the moment she'd heard they were going to capture Jirachi, Lycoris had harbored a sliver of hope. How wonderful it would be if she could truly bring back the lost! But reality was cruel—even Jirachi could not revive the dead.

Lycoris left in a daze. Ryan, unable to bear watching, said, "Sakura, Iris, Daisy, Violet. Take your teams and fall back. Remember, keep an eye on Lycoris—she must be devastated right now. Take good care of her."

"Understood, boss," Iris said. "We'll organize the withdrawal."

Ryan nodded and climbed back onto Reshiram's back. Although he cared deeply about Lycoris, he knew that as a leader, he couldn't focus too much attention on individual subordinates. It might seem cold, but it was a necessary approach.

"Also, send operatives to Kalos and try to track down what I mentioned," Ryan added.

After speaking, Reshiram carried Ryan toward Slateport City. Dealing with these matters had taken considerable time—hopefully, they could still make it for the Grand Festival's final round.

The four operatives watched Ryan depart. Sakura spoke first, "The Kalos region? What is the boss looking for?"

"He mentioned several Legendary Pokémon. Man, when will we get a Legendary Pokémon? Look at the boss—he has so many!" Violet said.

"That's why he's the boss," Daisy said. "The elite squads have all been deployed, and we need to coordinate follow-up. Let's send out the combat teams too. Otherwise, finding a few Legendary Pokémon across such a vast region will be a real headache."

Iris didn't say anything but focused on catching up with Lycoris first. After all, she was clearly devastated, and they needed to at least prevent her from doing anything reckless.

Reshiram carried Ryan and Jirachi through the sky. Charizard initially stayed out of its Poké Ball, enjoying the freedom of flight. However, its long-distance flight speed couldn't match Reshiram's, and it was soon left behind, forced to return to its Poké Ball. By the time Ryan arrived in Slateport City, the Grand Festival was nearly over. Fortunately, Ryan made it for the final match, where Ruby was battling a coordinator using Milotic and Claydol.

Swampert and Gardevoir faced off against Milotic and Claydol. In terms of raw combat power, Ruby had the advantage, but his opponent was also highly skilled at combination techniques.

"Mumu, Rara, let's show them a spectacular evolution!" Ruby exclaimed, pressing his hand on the Key Stone bracelet he'd crafted himself.

The Mega Stone bracelet on Swampert's arm glowed, connecting with the light emanating from Ruby's Key Stone, and Swampert evolved into Mega Swampert. Gardevoir's pendant also connected with the light from Ruby's hand, and Gardevoir transformed into Mega Gardevoir.

"Oh! That's Mega Evolution! Ruby's Swampert and Gardevoir have Mega Evolved into Mega Swampert and Mega Gardevoir! The beauty of this transformation is absolutely captivating! Robert is losing appeal points! How will Robert respond?" Vivian provided commentary.

"Milotic, Hydro Pump! Claydol, Ancient Power!" Robert said with a confident smile.

Milotic immediately unleashed a powerful water cannon, while Claydol launched massive rocks that surrounded the water stream. The Hydro Pump was then dispersed by the centrifugal force of the rocks, the water jets propelling the stones into a rapid spin, creating streaks of blue ribbon dancing through the air.

Controlling two Pokémon through Mega Evolution simultaneously was a significant challenge for Ruby. Watching the incoming barrage, Ruby called out, "Mumu, Hammer Arm! Rara, Moonblast!"

Swampert's arm muscles instantly bulged, and with a powerful swing, it shattered the rocks formed from Ancient Power. Gardevoir danced gracefully under an ethereal moonlight, its Moonblast suddenly erupting and blasting both Milotic and Claydol away.

Gardevoir elegantly lifted its dress in a curtsy, while Swampert flexed its arms, displaying its powerful muscles. This combination of raw power and elegant grace captivated everyone's attention.

Time expired, and Vivian shouted, "Time's up! Ruby has given us an absolutely amazing performance! Congratulations to him for winning the Grand Festival!"

Ruby waved excitedly, then, along with Gardevoir and Swampert (who had returned to their normal forms), bowed toward the audience. He spotted Sapphire and Lillie cheering enthusiastically for him, and of course, Ryan at the back of the stands.

Ryan gave him a thumbs-up, and Ruby smiled and returned the gesture.

Next, Ruby received the championship Ribbon Cup. As he raised the trophy high, it symbolized that his six-month journey had finally yielded a satisfying result—he had won the Hoenn region's Grand Festival!

With the Grand Festival concluded, Ryan met up with Sapphire and Lillie, and after Ruby joined them, the four headed to their rented hotel.

Of course, a celebratory feast was in order after the competition, and the four of them enjoyed an elaborate meal to celebrate Ruby's victory. Meanwhile, the other three were curious about why Ryan had been in such a hurry to travel to the Unova region a few days earlier.

Ryan didn't hide anything and told them about his trip to Unova. He also mentioned that the journey had been extremely fruitful: first, he'd captured Kyurem, then Charizard had reached Tier 3 Legendary status, and then he'd captured Meloetta and secured Jirachi.

Ruby and Sapphire listened with great interest, but only Lillie sensed the danger involved and silently gripped Ryan's hand.

Jirachi glanced at the group, then continued happily eating its Pokéblocks.

Ryan said, "Since we have three wishes, let's make them. I'll go first."

After clearing his throat, Ryan said, "Jirachi, I wish my luck would improve!"

Upon hearing this, Jirachi immediately shook its head and then communicated something to Ryan telepathically. Ryan listened carefully, then suddenly his expression changed drastically, and he said helplessly, "I knew it wouldn't be that simple."

The other three looked at Ryan with puzzled expressions, not understanding what he meant.
