Chapter 263: Preparations for the Future
The next day, Ryan and Lillie rode Solgaleo through the Ultra Wormhole and returned to Alola. Behind them were five Solgaleo and five Lunala, paired off, carrying everyone back to Alola.
Lusamine and Professor Kukui watched the group of legendary Pokémon with some shock. The Solgaleo and Lunala had completed their mission and returned to Ultra Space; they were only brought here by Phyco and the others, not given directly to Ryan.
However, what shocked them even more was yet to come. As soon as the Solgaleo and Lunala left, Ryan took out the bags of Poké Balls.
Then, the Poké Balls in an extra bag instantly opened, and legendary Pokémon appeared on the open ground of the Aether Foundation.
Roars echoed throughout the Aether Foundation; these legendary Pokémon had finally broken free of their "cages" and returned to the world of freedom! These roars were an outpouring of pent-up frustration from the past few years. They would begin a new life in this world!
Most of these legendary Pokémon were willing to return to Pallet Town with Ryan, since they were essentially unregistered in this world and could easily clash with the original legendary Pokémon. However, Ryan believed that more likely, new legendary Pokémon would be born.
As for the smaller group, they wanted to explore this world first, but they had promised Ryan that if they needed a place to settle, they would choose to come to him.
After bidding farewell to the legendary Pokémon, Mewtwo telepathically said, "Alright, let's go back to the manor you mentioned. I can't wait to talk to the other Mewtwo."
Ryan nodded. He planned to ride his White Kyurem back to Pallet Town first, while the rest returned to their posts. Ruby and Sapphire were going back to Hoenn, while Lillie decided to rest at home for a few days and spend time with Lusamine. Ash was preparing to embark on a journey in this new region, and Serena naturally followed him.
Sending out Kyurem, Ryan embarked on the road back to Pallet Town. Of course, this time Kyurem didn't accelerate as ridiculously, after all, he still had to consider which legendary Pokémon couldn't keep up. Hmm? It seems he forgot Groudon can't fly!
Groudon watched the legendary Pokémon fly away, a thousand curses practically on its lips!
Lillie looked helplessly at Groudon, then hung up the holographic communicator with Ryan and called out, "Groudon, get into your Poké Ball, I'll teleport you to the manor. That'll be faster."
Groudon entered the Poké Ball with tears streaming down its face. What was it doing breaking free of the Poké Ball in the first place?!
On the League side, a group of high-ranking League officials were now in a state of utter confusion. Ryan's dominating return to Pallet Town with so many legendary Pokémon had been witnessed by their informants, who weren't blind.
The League's higher-ups weren't interested in where these legendary Pokémon came from, but they did know one thing: if all these Pokémon sided with the Mercenary Guild, the guild would possess the power to rival the League!
"Report! Urgent report!" Just as the higher-ups were in a state of panic, a man appeared at the conference room door and said.
"Come in. What urgent matter is there to report?" one of the higher-ups asked.
Lance also looked at the man who entered and frowned, saying, "You must be League Investigator Looker, right? I remember you."
Holding a laptop, Looker said, "That's right, I am Looker. I am also an undercover agent for the Mercenary Guild within the League."
Looker's words caused an uproar in the conference room. Many people immediately sent out their Pokémon to keep a close watch on him.
Looker smiled faintly and said, "Since I dared to reveal my identity, it means I have the absolute ability to escape. You don't need to be so nervous. I received a message from our boss, Ryan, and then relayed it to you: now is not the time for infighting. As for the specific reasons, watch this video and then answer me."
With that, Looker opened the laptop and placed it on the table. He then turned the video to the League's high-ranking officials.
The video was the restored version of the disc that Zinnia had brought out. The first inappropriate part had been cut out, and the following video content had sent chills down the spines of everyone who had watched it.
Now, these League high-ranking officials, watching this video, were also drenched in cold sweat. Although they didn't know what the tall creature in the video was, they were very clear about the legendary Pokémon that fought against that terrifying being!
But watching those legendary Pokémon being annihilated with a wave of its hand, even a powerful one like Ho-Oh was simply crushed to death. The video ended, and Lance touched his clothes, soaked with cold sweat, and said in a deep voice, "What's going on with this video? It doesn't seem like it's been edited. If it's real, that's unrealistic; Ho-Oh and the others are still alive and well!"
"Do you know about parallel universes?" Ryan's figure appeared on the computer screen. He was sitting on the sofa, legs crossed, head propped up with his right hand, glancing sideways at the League's high-ranking members. A Zeraora was nestled in his lap, purring contentedly as he stroked it with his left hand.
Beside him were Meloetta, Flabébé, and Celebi—three legendary Pokémon. This kind of presence made Lance want to challenge Ryan right then and there.
But suppressing his impulse, Lance said, "We know about parallel universes."
"My legendary Pokémon were brought from a parallel universe; their worlds have been destroyed by that being. What I mean is: that being has destroyed many worlds. I've personally witnessed eleven worlds it destroyed. And that's just the ones that survived. What about the others? Therefore, I suggest that while it hasn't set its sights on our world, we form an alliance to prepare for the future. Don't end up like in the video, where when it attacks, only the legendary Pokémon go to fight, without any backup forces."
Lance and the others fell into deep thought. At this moment, a high-ranking member spoke up, "How can we trust that you are right?"
"With my current strength, I could easily hold off all the legendary Pokémon of your League, and still have enough power to dismantle your League!" Ryan said domineeringly. "But I didn't do that, because it would only waste our strength. However, if you don't agree, I don't mind doing this once. Remember, this is a demand, not a request! I'll give you a week to consider. Agree, and we'll form an alliance; disagree, and I'll dismantle your League. Don't think that Mew can help you; I have Arceus on my side!"
With that, he shut down the laptop. Looker put away his laptop, bowed slightly, and left the conference room.
Walking down the corridor of the League headquarters, no one dared to stop him. Looker smirked slightly: he was also leaving the League. He felt that his decision to join the Mercenary Guild was the most correct decision he had ever made!
