Chapter 39 - Chapter 40: “The Grim Reaper” Erigor

[Ding! Task Triggered!

Task Name: "The Grim Reaper's Wrath"

Task Content:

The head of the Dark Guild "Eisenwald," nicknamed "The Grim Reaper," Erigor, has set his sights on you. Because the subordinates he had been training intensively were all taken out by you! This has enraged "The Grim Reaper" beyond measure; he vows to make you pay! Beware the Reaper's scythe!

Tip: The bounty for "The Grim Reaper" Erigor is as high as 8,500,000 J.

Maybe he's coming to give you money? Defeat him! A fat payout!

Task Progress: Defeat "The Grim Reaper" Erigor (Incomplete)

Task Reward: Random skill.]

After Moen left the Magic Council office with 150,000 J, the [Saint Seiya System] suddenly popped up.

Moen's eyes immediately went to the task reward section, and he felt a bit excited — a random skill could be very significant!

In front of this task reward, there was no restriction to Bronze Saints, which meant it could randomly grant a Silver Saint skill, or even a Gold Saint skill!

Actually, thinking about it, this wasn't necessarily good. A bigger pool also increased the chance of drawing a useless skill. Limiting it to Bronze Saints didn't mean you couldn't get a useful skill.

Wouldn't the "Five Little Strong Ones" skills be stronger than some mediocre Silver Saint skills?

Of course, if he could pull a Gold Saint skill, it would be an absolute win, at least not worse than the "Five Little Strong Ones."

"The Grim Reaper Erigor… is this guy really that famous?"

Moen thought for a moment. The title "Grim Reaper" sounded very imposing. This Erigor should not be a minor figure.

"Eisenwald" was a Dark Guild that had just emerged in the past two years, and the head seemed to be called Erigor.

However, in Moen's impression, Erigor didn't carry the title "Grim Reaper"; presumably, it was the [Saint Seiya System] that had given him the name, much like Natsu's "Fire Dragon" title.

"This probably means he will earn this title in the future."

After all these years, Moen had roughly figured out the system's style. Those task descriptions that looked like nonsense might actually be hints about the future.

'Looks like I need to pay attention to this so-called Eisenwald Guild.'

Thinking this, Moen turned back to the office. He requested information about the "Eisenwald" guild from the Magic Council staff. Thanks to the association with Fairy Tail and the Dreyar surname, he easily obtained the data he wanted.

Of course, the official Magic Council office naturally had records on Moen. After all, he was a registered and legitimate Fairy Tail wizard. Once he gave his name, the "uniformed guy" had already checked his records.

Being the grandson of Makarov Dreyar, a Fairy Tail wizard, obtaining information on a Dark Guild was quite easy.

The Magic Council had always encouraged legitimate guilds to go after Dark Guilds; otherwise, they wouldn't be issuing bounties on Dark Guild members.

Fairy Tail and the Phantom Lord were long-standing rivals, and they were among the guilds in Fiore that most frequently went after Dark Guilds.

These two historically significant guilds always competed with each other, and currently, Fairy Tail held the advantage.

"Rest assured, Mr. Dreyar. If we interrogate and get the exact guild location, we will definitely give priority to Fairy Tail."

The "uniformed guy" made this promise to Moen very formally. Since these four captives were caught by Moen, any results from interrogation would first be shared with his guild.

This was a customary procedure, reflecting the Magic Council's commitment to fairness and justice.

Moen gave a thumbs-up to the "uniformed guy," showing his appreciation, then left the office with the materials.

The "uniformed guy" who had been liaising with Moen was named Pro, and Moen had a good impression of him, because he had waived a small compensation.

During the fight with the four Eisenwald members, Moen had accidentally damaged a small section of the wall. He reported it honestly and had prepared to pay a repair fee, but Pro told him he didn't need to pay.

He was attacked by Dark Guild wizards and was the victim. Any accidental damage during his counterattack should be attributed to the Eisenwald attackers.

Moen naturally accepted this explanation. Although it was just a small wall section and the compensation wouldn't be much, the Magic Council's attitude was gratifying — heroes shouldn't bleed and cry at the same time!

After leaving the office, Moen walked while studying the materials, eventually arriving outside the Onibas Grand Theater.

Although he had tried to handle things quickly, the performance had already started and the theater doors were closed.

"Not even standing tickets left?!"

At the ticket counter, Moen opened his mouth slightly, his expression utterly speechless.

The drama festival was indeed immensely popular, and Moen had expected the theater tickets to sell well.

But this? It was sold out to such an extent that even standing space was gone. The place was already packed, and now they weren't allowing anyone else in.

And tickets couldn't be reserved in advance—Master Makarov and the others couldn't have bought them for him ahead of time either.

With no other choice, Moen could only wait outside. He didn't really feel disappointed though; he hadn't been that interested in the play to begin with.

With the spare time, he might as well go over the information—Moen was already eager to take down "The Grim Reaper" Erigor.

Unfortunately, the Magic Council didn't have much intel. All they knew was that the so-called "Reaper" Erigor wielded a scythe as his weapon and used Wind Magic with extremely high lethality. That guy always took assassination jobs, and his scenes were notoriously bloody.

"Only accepts assassination requests, uses a scythe as a weapon—that's why he's called the Reaper, huh?"

Moen made a deduction. He figured he was probably right. Nicknames like that were usually pretty straightforward and directly tied to one's magic or image.

For instance, Natsu's "Fire Dragon" title—it fit perfectly. The same went for this Erigor being called the "Reaper."

Moen waited outside the Onibas Grand Theater the whole time. It wasn't until evening that the theater doors finally opened.

The audience exited with satisfied smiles—clearly, the play had been good enough to leave most people pleased.

"Over here!"

Moen spotted Mystogan in the crowd and waved at him. He only saw Mystogan alone.

That was normal—Master Makarov and Wendy were too short. Unless they were flying, he wouldn't have been able to see them anyway.

After a short while, the four reunited. The smiles on Makarov's group showed they'd thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

"All done?"

Makarov looked toward Moen, asking with concern.

"Mm, all done. We can head home now."

Moen nodded, smiling as he replied.

"What a shame—you didn't get to see the show."

Makarov sighed, genuinely regretting that Moen had missed it. This performance had definitely been worth every jewel.

"It's not a big deal. I wasn't idle outside anyway. I caught a few members of a Dark Guild and made a little extra cash."

Moen blinked as he spoke. His words surprised Makarov, who quickly asked what had happened.
