Leonard slowly pulled away, though not very far.
His thumb brushed gently across her warm cheek, lingering there as though he couldn't quite bring himself to let go. The room felt strangely quiet, save for the steady drumming of rain against the windows.
"Still having trouble remembering?" he asked softly.
Dydra could not find her voice.
The kiss still lingered on her lips, leaving her thoughts hopelessly tangled. Her heart pounded wildly against her ribs, and she found herself unable to meet his gaze for more than a second before looking away again.
What was she supposed to say?
That she remembered every second of it?
That she had replayed it countless times in her mind?
Leonard watched her silent struggle with an amused glint in his eyes.
Slowly, he brought both hands up to cup her face.
The gesture was surprisingly tender.
