"That was... weirdly easy, don't you think?" Turning her head to search for confirmation, Yuuka found out that the others also agreed with her.
"Indeed, it seems like Sensei's capability isn't anything to scoff at." Hasumi nodded. "I didn't know you could do that maneuver, Saori. But somehow, Sensei noticed it at first glance... Makes it a little bit creepy."
"What?! You don't say..." Hearing one of her students calling her creepy, Sensei couldn't help but stomp her feet and lower her head in shame. "I wasn't trying to be creepy..."
"Haha. I was joking, Sensei. I don't mean it." Laughing at her words, Hasumi turned her attention back towards the holographic images of Rin. "What next?"
"The closest route is closed due to construction work that had been scheduled for today. But due to the riot, the progress had been halted, making the road inaccessible." Rin read through her files. "The next closest route would require us to go to the bypass... But it seems like the journey might be stopped here."
As her words fell, a figure dropped from the sky, masking her expressions was a white fox mask with red eyeliner and fox ears.
Kimono-like schoolwear as her uniform, she held onto a gun with a blade attached at the end, almost like a spear.
"Hehehe..." The laughter escaped her lips as the students shuddered under her gaze.
"Everyone! Prepare to engage--" Before Sensei could finish her words, in her eyes, another student dropped from somewhere, causing her to wonder if students come as easily as the falling rain drops.
Due to that, she turned her head up to see whether any more students would fall... but saw nothing.
"Sensei," Rin called out. "We do not have any time to dally; we need to regain control of the Sanctum Tower as soon as possible."
"The fox mask is the Fox of Calamity, Kosaka Wakamo, the source of all this riot. She escaped the Federal Correction Bureau, and that led to the mess that we see now."
As she said that, her eyes turned back to the unfamiliar person who had landed in front of them; across her right shoulder was a black cape that hovered, covering the right side of her shoulder.
From the back, they couldn't make out what kind of expressions she was having, but the things they could come up with were...
She's confident.
Meanwhile, Sensei thought that this person looked quite familiar...
'...Isn't she the one hanging on the side of the helicopter earlier?'
Sensei's gaze turned towards the top of the student's head.
'...it is indeed her.' Yes, that familiar Halo was very much familiar to the one she saw while riding the helicopter.
The mist-like streak of white, which didn't seem to have an exact form, every moment the owner of the halo moved, the Halo appeared to change shape, almost as if it wasn't stuck to one.
Seeing this, Sensei's attention turned towards the girl facing off against the unknown girl, the so-called Fox of Calamity.
The most conspicuous thing would be the fox ears atop her head, highlights of red inside her hair, and at the tips of her ears.
Seeing this, Sensei couldn't help but gulp... Those ears looked so fluffy...
Suddenly, the black haired girl with her back facing them raised her hand, and it was then revealed that inside her hand was a gun.
The nuzzle was aimed at... Kosaka Wakamo.
"...Hehe, so you'll be my opponent for today? What happened to the fox squad? Did they give up?" A giggle escaped Wakamo's lips as she hugged her gun close to her person. "That's fine too... I'll still escape in the end!"
Almost in an instant, she also raised her gun and pulled the trigger.
The unknown student merely tilted her head slightly, almost as if she saw the shot coming before she even pointed her weapon.
Without wasting any time, Akuta rushed in.
---
"This is a good opportunity, Sensei. The Fox of Calamity is currently stuck in a standstill against that student; we could scoot past them and reach the Sanctum tower before Wakamo does." Chinatsu pointed out as they peeked out of the corner of the building.
"I agree, I don't think capturing her is our job right now. Besides, once we reclaim the Schale Club Room, all this riot should calm down, right?" Suzumi continued, her gaze locked onto the back of the unknown student.
"..." Saori stayed quiet as her gaze followed the battle that was happening in the distance.
From her eyes, she could barely make out the shape of the person, very much shorter than herself.
To be honest, Saori couldn't give a damn what was currently happening in D.U.
Since the Arius District wasn't affected by the riot, being sent here as a representative wasn't something she really expected.
Although it made sense to send her, what she didn't understand was 'Why' send one in the first place?
But it's the higher-ups' orders, and she couldn't defy them.
Bang!
A stray bullet landed nearby, causing dust clouds to cover the air as everyone took cover.
"What a powerful weapon..." Looking at the impacted location, Yuuka exclaimed her surprise.
"What kind of gun is strong enough to leave behind a crater this big...?" She turned her attention to the Student Council Officer.
"...I don't know. Why are you looking at me? Go look for the manufacturer department if you're interested." Rin sighed as she palmed her face. "That's that. We've wasted enough time. Let's move, Sensei."
"...Let's go." With a nod, Sensei took one final glance at the battle going on before following the direction given by Rin.
On the other hand...
'God damn, she's fast as fuck!' Akuta ducked behind the rubble as she reloaded her gun. "Why are you... Actually, never mind. I won't understand the mind of a natural sadist anyway."
As she said this, she dashed towards the edge of the building and aimed. Her posture wasn't stable, but it was good enough to prevent any misfire at an innocent building.
Wakamo laughed but didn't say anything, reloading her gun and firing bullets consecutively in Akuta's general direction.
Indeed, she was struggling to hold her ground.
Though she rarely missed with her Increased Dexterity at level 2, having the rest at level 1 was quite a pain.
The only reason she had taken care of Beatrice so cleanly previously was that Beatrice was arrogant.
Her confidence made her lower her guard against someone who could kill her using a single bullet.
Yes, she did accidentally kill herself in return... but that's not the point she's trying to convey.
After all, even Beatrice didn't expect a child to be able to control Terror efficiently, right?
...and at that point in time, Terror wasn't really that prevalent. In fact, Kivotos didn't even know Terror was a thing until Phrenapates and Terror Shiroko turned up to say hi.
It was practically an evil source of power after all.
As it turns out, Terror could literally destroy the body of the user from the inside out if they're not already converted into their Terror counterpart.
Inside the previous simulation, Kasuka wasn't a Terror; she was merely impersonating one while using the Terror's power.
For that, she destroyed her body unknowingly, causing her halo to shatter...
Learn from past mistakes!
For that, Akuta decided not to use her Terror power without first buying Increased Durability!
Of course, with the Self Healing Constitution, most of the effects of using Terror on an incompatible body could be suppressed.
But if she were to accidentally put in too much Terror one day?
She didn't want her original body to die!
That'd be a funny way this story could end...
