Chapter 245 - Reward: A Pair of Mangekyō Sharingan

Ryōsuke naturally ignored Mabui's dissatisfaction. His naming system was simply a convenient way to keep track of their birth order.

Since Mabui's strength was only at the Jōnin level, her child had provided him with a Precious Chest. He opened it immediately and received ten points of Stamina. While not a flashy reward, ten points of Stamina was quite useful; it increased his endurance and subtly enhanced his overall physical toughness.

To his pleasant surprise, Yugito Nii's child had granted him a Magnificent Chest—the highest tier of reward. He realized he had overlooked something: while Yugito's performance in the original story wasn't always in the spotlight, she was a Jinchūriki with full control over her Tailed Beast. With that enhancement, her combat power was equivalent to that of a Kage-level powerhouse.

From this, Ryōsuke could deduce the reward logic: Jōnin-level women provided Precious Chests, while Kage-level powerhouses provided Magnificent Chests. Unfortunately, there weren't many Kage-level women in the shinobi world, as those who reached such heights were usually the absolute strongest in their respective villages.

Opening the Magnificent Chest, Ryōsuke obtained a pair of Mangekyō Sharingan. The reward was decent, though it wasn't immediately useful to him since he already possessed his own pair. Had the reward been the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, he might have considered gouging out his own eyes to swap them in—after all, Sharingan were essentially 'plug-and-play' in this world.

The Eternal Mangekyō was vastly superior to the standard version; not only was the ocular power significantly greater, but the eyes would no longer degrade into blindness regardless of how much they were used. Standard Mangekyō Sharingan, conversely, could never recover their light once lost.

Now, Ryōsuke felt even more anticipation for the birth of Tsunade's child. Tsunade was undeniably a Kage-level powerhouse, meaning she would certainly grant him a Magnificent Chest. He hoped for a more practical reward this time. For now, he simply sealed the new pair of eyes within his system inventory. He didn't feel the need to explore their specific abilities; the two abilities he currently possessed were already the most practical. One countered any Genjutsu, and the other was Space Crossing.

He felt he hadn't fully explored the potential of Space Crossing yet. From his limited use, it acted like a gateway that could open a direct portal between two locations. It was incredibly convenient for travel, though it functioned more like a transportation tool than the Flying Raijin Technique used by Namikaze Minato, which allowed for instantaneous combat maneuvers. He hadn't yet tested the maximum distance the portal could span.

Regardless, he had no plans to leave the village soon. Yakushi Nonō, Shizune, and Tsunade were all approaching their due dates. Not long after, the mechanical voice of the system echoed in his mind once more.

[CONGRATULATIONS TO THE HOST FOR OBTAINING A DESCENDANT. REWARD: ONE PRECIOUS CHEST.]

Ryōsuke's lips curled into a smirk. Shizune and Tsunade were sitting right across from him with their protruding bellies, and Yakushi Nonō's time hadn't come yet. So who was it?

It could only be Uzuki Yugao. He hadn't expected her to actually conceive his child. Back then, she had tried to be clever by going undercover to spy on him, intending to use her beauty to seduce him. He, of course, hadn't resisted; he had taken the bait quite willingly. Uzuki Yugao was quite beautiful, and her purple hair gave her a unique charm. He figured it was time to pay her a visit; now that they shared a bloodline, their connection had been reforged.

He would need to send someone to find her. She wasn't from a major clan; she was a civilian ninja. Without her position in the Anbu, her source of income had likely been cut off, meaning she might be short on funds. He decided to prepare some money for her. Money was of little consequence to him now.

First, he decided to open the new chest.

"System, open the Precious Chest."

[DING! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE HOST FOR OBTAINING A SEALING TREASURE VASE.]

Ryōsuke was a bit speechless. While rewards from Jōnin-level descendants were generally less impactful for his current level, the drop rate for these Sealing Treasure Vases seemed absurdly high. He already had three. These things were only useful for sealing Tailed Beasts. There were nine Tailed Beasts in total—ten if you counted the Ten-Tails—so having ten of them wouldn't be excessive.

Perhaps he could use one to seal Orochimaru. However, his current plan for Orochimaru was to use Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan to directly control him. Despite his evil nature, Orochimaru's talent was undeniable and would be of great use to the Uchiha clan.

The Uchiha were known as a clan of war. The more tragic the war, the stronger the clan became. This was because the awakening of the Sharingan was tied to intense emotional trauma—often the death of a loved one. The faster friends and family were sacrificed, the faster the Sharingan evolved. Because the Uchiha had joined Konoha and entered a period of relative peace, the number of top-tier experts in the clan had dwindled. The eyes required the stimulus of extreme grief to evolve into the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Naturally, only those with sufficient talent could awaken them; it wasn't as if every ordinary member would gain power just by losing a relative.

The Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama, believed that once an Uchiha understood love, the loss of that love would be replaced by an even more intense hatred. This hatred would cause a special chakra to surge into the optic nerves, changing the eyes. They were 'eyes that reflect the heart.' The Sharingan synced with the power of the heart; as the hatred grew stronger, so did the ocular power.

In Ryōsuke's view, that was mostly nonsense. Intense hatred naturally led to higher combat potential in anyone—look at Nagato. He wasn't an Uchiha, yet he was consumed by his own hatred. He sought peace for the world but couldn't grant it to his own teacher. His brand of peace was more of a vengeful peace. Tobirama's judgment of the Uchiha as an 'evil clan' was quite narrow-minded. In reality, it was more like a genetic disease of the bloodline. If anyone in the shinobi world could find a way to fix that flaw, it was likely Orochimaru.

Meanwhile, at the Konoha Hospital, Uzuki Yugao felt utterly exhausted after giving birth. Finally, the child was here. It was a boy, and she resolved to raise him well. Once the child was older, she could return to work, though finding a civilian job would be difficult given that her entire life had been spent training as a ninja. She had moved out of her parents' home; she didn't want them to know about the child. If they asked, she wouldn't even know how to answer.
