Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: How Dare You Snoop Through My Phone

Now, both she and Yuan Hua felt an unprecedented exhaustion and helplessness. As Yuan Hua wept, she silently shed tears alongside her. The two Homo sapiens talked for a while, then sat in silence.

She also tried to console Yuan Hua, urging her to stay positive—there was always a way to resolve things. After all, aside from life and death, everything else was just a scratch. This time, they could treat it as an accidental scrape; it would heal in a few days.

After pouring out her grievances and frustrations from the past two days to Su Qing, Yuan Hua finally felt a little better.

Su Qing spoke up, "Let's go. Venting helps ease the pain—otherwise, I'd suffocate from keeping it all in today. Dumping the emotional garbage makes the heart feel lighter.

You should head back too. Your child is at home. Spit out all the bitterness today, then pull yourself together tomorrow and focus on work. Don't let these trivial matters affect our mood. After all, making money is what truly matters—it's our top priority right now."

The two Homo sapiens chattered on, stretching a single meal into three hours. Only then did Su Qing hurry home.

With such turmoil in the family, she felt a pang of guilt for being away for hours.

Now, she didn't even know who to confide in about her own grievances. She had only given Yuan Hua a vague summary.

She didn't want to burden Yuan Hua further—her plate was already full enough. Her mother-in-law vented to her, Yuan Hua vented to her, but who could she vent to?

She called her mother-in-law. If no one had cooked at home, she'd bring food back for everyone. But her mother-in-law said they'd already eaten.

When she returned, the living room was pitch black—it seemed everyone had retreated to their rooms.

She could only go to her own room, where Xiao Ji was lying on the bed. Just the sight of him there made her skin crawl.

After washing up, she lay down on the bed. She glanced at Xiao Ji—his expression was still dark, like storm clouds gathering before a tempest.

Her heart skipped a beat. The look in Xiao Ji's eyes was off, a clear precursor to an outburst.

The moment she sat on the bed, Xiao Ji suddenly turned and stared at her, his gaze icy, his voice low. "Where were you just now?"Her heart sank—this was trouble.

He interrogated her like a criminal, and irritation flared inside her.

"Yuan Hua needed me. We just had dinner outside,"she replied, her tone sharp.

"Were you really meeting Yuan Hua, or were you sneaking off to see some other Homo sapiens?"

She took a deep breath, pressing a hand to her chest. She hadn't expected Xiao Ji to hurl such venomous accusations. Suddenly, her chest felt tight and suffocating.

After a pause, she raised her voice sharply. "What nonsense are you spouting? What 'shameful deeds' are you talking about?"

Xiao Ji roared back, "With everything happening at home, you just ran off for hours? What could possibly be more important than this family? What do you even take this home for?

With such a huge crisis, you didn't even care about Xiao Bao. You didn't care if we lived or died—you just stuffed your own stomach. You expect me to believe nothing happened out there?

I've noticed it ever since you came back from abroad—you've been acting strange. Did you find someone else overseas? Is that why you're pushing for a divorce? Tell me, is that it?

Do you have another Homo sapiens out there?"Xiao Ji's bloodshot eyes bore into her as he grabbed her shoulders, shaking her violently.

Su Qing was stunned. She had never seen Xiao Ji erupt like this in their five years of marriage. His temper seemed almost manic, as if he had some kind of depressive rage disorder. His frenzied demeanor frightened her.

Her heart pounded, her face turning deathly pale. The fury in Xiao Ji's eyes and his contorted expression made her shrink back.

Hearing his words, her eyes reddened instantly, tears welling up. Overwhelmed with anger, she glared at him. "Think whatever you want. I've done nothing wrong—not to heaven, earth, or you."

With that, she slapped his hands off her shoulders, yanked the blanket over herself, and turned her back to him, refusing to engage further.

Any more words would only fuel his rage—who knew what he might do next?

Suddenly, Xiao Ji forcibly turned her onto her back. She had no choice but to face him. Lying flat, she tilted her head and glared. "What do you want?"

Xiao Ji leaned in. She turned her head away, but he reached past her—grabbing her phone from the nightstand.

As he snatched it, he sneered, "Let's see who you were really meeting. You couldn't even wait two days after coming back—who's the Homo sapiens you're so desperate to see?"

Su Qing lunged for her phone, but Xiao Ji was faster.
