Chapter 27 Leslie's tangent

"Ah so you want to know my skill? Sure enough I'll explain it. It is slightly complicated so spare me some time to explain it. Wherever I have walked I will be able to remember the route or path I took. This can be on the way to the skyscraper or the shelter. I can remember the exact route and nearby paths that I took to get to this point. The only problem is it uses a constant amount of mana, it isn't much but it just blocks out most of my mana capacity I have. But I did some calculations and I will be able to cover a good portion of Duran if I get more mana. But that means that I need to level up more and I'm not that much of a fighter. I did get to level 18 so my mana is at 198, but I'm using almost a quarter to keep track of the routes I have taken. It doesn't allow me to save routes from before I had gotten the skill but that doesn't bother me much, just slightly. I did experiment quite a lot with it, going on small trips around the shelter, trying to not just save the route but also the location and to check for the effect of height, and it all seems to work perfectly! I can cross my path multiple times at different heights and it will still register. I even tried to use chairs to walk on a different level, but it doesn't save the path! Amazing right??? There seems to be something in the skill that keeps some track of my surroundings. When I'm walking through a very wide street, it will save it as a wider line, not as two lines when I walk on both sides. It just does it somehow, I still need to find out how it works. I also managed to add some minor points of interest in the map I made, but it uses more mana so I keep it to a minimum or just remove old ones. But let's go over an example cause it is a little bit tricky to understand everything. When we left from the shelter I was still following a place I had been in before so nothing happened, until we took a different corner. Then the skill automatically starts to track again and I have no means to turn it off, which might also be a downside but I don't mind. Ah… I forgot to tell you the name of the skill, it is called Map Maker. Pretty accurate and works good enough. But back on the example, as I am walking I can see the map slowly start to expand little by little. I measured the distance and it takes up around one mana for every single kilometer. It doesn't matter if it is a steep hill or lots of corners, or jut straight out, it will always be one point of mana. But I do wonder if there is a change when I'm swimming, at what depth will it be a new passage. But sadly I can't really try that out, I can't swim, never learned it and will be a waste of time. Time I should spend in finding the limits of my skill. AH… what would happen if I jump out of a window, does it see that as a path as well, or what to do when a wall is placed parallel with the road. Will it change the map that already existed? Or maybe split the previous map line in two. But then I didn't actually use that road, then it might only use the closest to the previous path. Or maybe it won't even change at all and the map isn't capable of adapting, only when I would pass through it again. For example if a skyscraper would fall over and I had discovered all the floors inside, will it keep the map in the skyscraper as long as it doesn't break, and will it keep the map at the place where it will fall or does it automatically correct it or just erase it all… So interesting mhmhm I should write this all down, thanks for your input Rohan. You helped me lots, we should discuss this more later."

Rohan was flabbergasted, he was completely blown away by Leslie's absurd monologue. 'This guy can talk to five people with himself, dang'

"Uhm sorry Leslie but I need to help Ragnar with some stuff, maybe another time."

"Agh no worries! Let me know anytime Friend"

'Oh man that was scary stuff' Rohan quickly moved up to Ragnar and looked him in the eyes. Ragnar could feel his pain, the look in his eyes said more than enough.

"Ye bro, that can happen, big mistake but at least you know that someone is enthusiastic hah." He tried to laugh it off but Rohan felt his brain overclock.

"Well anyways, my skill isn't that special, I can form a layer of solid earth around my fists and shape it. That's all bro, I don't need to jump chairs or swim to test more, I'll just smash it all HAHAHA" He was laughing the loudest about his own joke, Rohan could only give him credits for his short explanation.

"Like day and night your explanations… " Rohan let out a deep sigh, how did the team function so well while all the members were completely different. 'Maybe Britta needs some more credits.'

It took a couple hours before they reached the halfway point, here they would crash for the night and leave in the early morning again. No stragglers or other satyr's were seen after they had crossed the bridge, even the stalking satyr didn't appear.

Leslie had guided them quickly while taking a safe route to the building. It was an older grey concrete flat. Currently marked for removal, so getting in was very easy. It still had its basic amenities, water and light. But that wouldn't be of much use anyways while sleeping.

This type of flat was very common outside the inner city, often being made with multiple at the same time. It allowed many people in a small space. It was around 13 stories high, with balconies on every room and a green grass perk at the roof, allowing some green areas within the city. Most flats had either grass or bushes at the top or just solar panels.

It didn't take much for the team to fall asleep and wake up again with sunrise.
