Chapter 7 - A Sad Day

In the previous episode of Hakuna, we witnessed that Master Mokoto is no ordinary old man; he managed to fend off almost all of Hakuna's attacks and was still able to give the prince a real challenge. With the fight concluded, Master Mokoto took on Hakuna as his protégé, but something terrible is building in the air—someone's life is about to take a turn, and not for the better...

A day has gone by since Hakuna and Master Mokoto's sparring session. With the teacher accepting the prince's proposal, Hakuna anticipates starting his training a week later.

It is morning now, and the boys are waiting in the field for the bell to ring to begin the day's schedule, but...

"Something is different..." Hakuna says, sensing a change in the atmosphere.

Enzo wonders, "What do you mean?"

Hakuna then continues, "Normally I'd be made fun of in some way or another, but it's strangely quiet..."

Bodega also notices, "Now that you mention it, where's Super?"

Freddie then clarifies, "Guys, Super isn't here because there's a lot going on. He's really sick, his father is in the hospital fighting for his life, and to make it worse, his girlfriend cheated on him..."

"Wait, what?! He has a girlfriend? That's IMPOSSIBLE!!" the prince shouts in disbelief.

Bodega, frustrated, gives Hakuna a firm tap on the back of his head...

"Have you heard nothing at all, you blockhead?!" He yells.

"Hey, ow! I heard everything. Come on, I lost my dad when I was only 5 years old, and even in those five years, I quickly learned that moping about it isn't going to help anyone..." Hakuna replies, openly revealing his father's death.

"Super is coming..." Rems chimes in, halting the argument.

Everyone looks at Super as he walks towards them with his face down...

"Heyyyy..." Hakuna says, attempting to ease the tension.

Super, almost reflexively, says, "I politely ask you to keep your mouth shut..."

Hakuna stood speechless...

Everyone did...

Enzo reprimands, "Super, there's no need to be a jerk to people trying to be nice to you. Apologize."

"I've been wondering why you never thought to fight me like everyone else. Well... now might be your chance..." Super voices, taunting Enzo.

Hakuna answers, clasping his fist, "I'll gladly accept that offer..."

The pressure around them changes as Hakuna says, "Your self-centred, self-important superiority complex irritates me..."

"I am who I am, and who I am is superior to you. Why not just accept that?" Super voices, never averting his gaze from the prince.

Enzo, attempting to intervene, "Both of you, stop. This is not the time for a civil war. Super, you have a lot on your plate as it is; losing your cool isn't a way to deal with it..."

The Intercom System chimes in, "Thulani Twala to the office please. Thulani Twala is requested to the office immediately. Thank you..."

Hakuna voices, "That name... I've heard it before, but where..."

Super starts walking toward the office...

"If you had any brain cells left, you would have remembered..." he says.

...At the office...

Miss Benjamin speaks, "Thulani, your brother is here. He's come to pick you up..."

The receptionist is nervous for some reason...

Someone is coming. He's strong, almost too strong...

His aura is intimidation in its full intent...

"Hmm, it's you..." Super says, casually.

It's Super's older brother, Op...

"Hey kid, we gotta go. Something's come up..." he says.

...At the hospital...

The doctors had declared Super's father deceased...

He suffered unknowingly from an intolerance to Daemonium...

Daemonium, the energy of demons, is volatile, explosive, and poisonous to a human...

The Ingenuity of the human race had brought about a one-time supplement to counteract Daemonium Intolerance. However...

White Twala refused to take the supplement, subsequently succumbing to a reaction similar to an allergy, yet no EpiPen could help him.

Super finds his mother crying in the waiting room, along with his sisters...

An increase in pressure is felt in the room...

Super speaks, his voice cold and monotone, "You spoke so casually about this, like Dad finally woke up or there was an improvement in his health or anything similar to that, you blithering fool..."

Op throws a devastating punch at his younger brother. It hits... no, wait, Super blocks it...

He growls, withdrawing his fist, "Grrr, you fool! I knew there was no way you were willing to come when I was honest. Now quit your moaning..."

Super lowers his arm. He takes a seat. Everyone looks at him. He had a close relationship with his father, one that no one really knew anything about...

Super is always a quiet person, but when he was with his father, they could talk about anything. His father would train him for hours on end...

...Super remembers...

White addresses Super, "Come on, son. Your latent abilities far exceed your brother's, even mine..."

Super argues, reevaluating his strength, "Dad, I can't even measure up to Op at this stage..."

White sighs, "Look, I raised Op in a way you might find despicable, and with you, I'll do all I can to be different—to be the best father I can be in my final days..."

"Ohh, is that why he's always a grumpy grouch?" Super has a revelation.

White reprimands, playfully poking his son's forehead, "Now, now, that is your older brother..."

A level 3 Kaiju Class demon appears behind Super's father...

The demon screeches, "Hrrrraaaaa!"

"Hmm, came to play, I see..." the Zulu man says.

Super yells out in fear and worry for his, "FATHER!!"

With a loud, explosive bang, Super's father destroyed the demon like it was nothing...

White concludes, "I know you're powerful. You're my son. Don't you ever let anyone overshadow you, ever..."

...Present day...

As powerful as he was, White Twala could not overcome the effects of Daemonium...

Super is seen with a smile and a tear down his face...

Super says to himself, "I promise, Dad, I won't let anyone keep up with me..."
