"Chen Xi's abilities should be used in more meaningful ways. This doctor, if he only works as a physician, that might be good for ordinary people, but for Chen Xi, it's a waste of talent. No one expects Chen Xi to merely be a doctor."
Wanda found it difficult to understand the person who had approached Chen Xi.
The doctor sighed. He didn't respond to Wanda but turned his gaze back to Chen Xi.
"I've looked into you, Chen Xi. You have accomplished a lot, but I also know that you've mostly stayed in this city. You rarely go to other places."
"The city you live in is very good, protected by you. But have you ever seen the places you've never set foot in? Those places are engulfed in war, many without any reports even on TV. I've walked through countless of these places with my medical kit. I've seen blood, corpses, firestorms, and despair. There are no saviors. I know what you think, and I know how others perceive this, but I have a small expectation—I hope you can go see for yourself."
After saying this, the doctor fell silent for a moment, then continued, "If you think this is unnecessary, then we can consider our meetings as mere coincidences."
With that, he nodded to Chen Xi and turned to leave.
Watching the doctor's slightly faltering figure, neither Chen Xi nor Wanda spoke.
Wanda hated war. Every time it was mentioned, memories of her past experiences involuntarily surfaced in her mind.
As the doctor disappeared from sight, Wanda stepped aside from Chen Xi.
"…Don't take the doctor's words too seriously."
Although Wanda herself thought the doctor's words were very reasonable, she also knew that what she had just said made sense as well.
When both sides had valid points, there was no need to emphasize anything further.
Even she couldn't make a decision—she could only steal a glance at Chen Xi, unsure whether he would be influenced by the doctor's words.
"The doctor isn't wrong. I do only see the larger picture, while the smaller situations completely escape me."
Though Wanda thought he was hiding it well, Chen Xi saw through it all.
He couldn't help but let a small smile curl on his lips.
"But even if that's the case, so what?"
Chen Xi didn't dwell on it at all.
He had already arranged people to handle situations across various regions.
If he were to personally attend to every matter everywhere, even a mastery of splitting himself into multiple bodies wouldn't be enough.
War never ceases. Wherever people exist, darkness and conflict will inevitably arise.
Even if he were present, would it change anything?
The doctor's words were reasonable but somewhat idealistic.
Chen Xi didn't agree with them.
"So you're just not going to intervene?"
Wanda suddenly felt a little disappointed.
"It's not that I won't intervene. Some things simply cannot be controlled externally. Internal strife must be resolved by the people themselves."
Chen Xi spoke in a calm, detached tone.
Wanda sneaked another glance at Chen Xi, realizing he truly wasn't interested in engaging, and pursed her lips, remaining silent.
It was unclear how the doctor's words or Wanda's words spread, but suddenly many groups appeared, opposing Chen Xi.
They twisted facts, misrepresented Chen Xi's words, painting him as hypocritical.
They claimed to liberate mutants, to seek peace between mutants and humans, while criticizing Chen Xi for inaction.
This caused some concern among Wanda and the others, though Chen Xi remained calm and collected.
He appeared contemplative, as if seriously considering something.
Wanda and the others couldn't tell what he was thinking. They had been discussing among themselves, but suddenly fell silent, not wanting to disturb him.
Perhaps Chen Xi had already formed a plan, or was thinking of the next move.
Chen Xi's presence and demeanor greatly pleased the politicians.
They wanted his influence to diminish, so they wouldn't have to worry about their positions being replaced. They took advantage of this, hoping to ruin Chen Xi's reputation completely.
As multiple forces intervened, Chen Xi's public image was increasingly defamed.
Soon, someone from Asgard arrived.
Amora's beautiful face carried a hint of anger. "I didn't expect that you had done so much, and yet they erased all your achievements. If not for you, would they even be able to live in this world?"
After interacting with Chen Xi, Amora developed a favorable impression of him.
Chen Xi was pleased that a girl spoke on his behalf.
Regarding Amora's words, he had his own understanding: "If one is swayed by rumors without judgment or understanding, then they don't deserve my protection. Let the storm rage even harder."
Chen Xi was no ordinary person—such rumors could not harm him.
His recent actions proved that he remained unaffected. He even found some online comments amusing, reading them aloud to share with the women.
Wanda and the others had been worried about Chen Xi, but seeing him like this, they felt reassured.
A question that had not been considered before now forced them to think.
"I've always wondered where these comments originally came from. Was it that doctor?"
With such detailed content, it couldn't have come from someone not present. The matter was certainly related to that doctor.
"Probably not related at all."
