Chapter 89 - Freedoms

Hawkins town.

Hawkins is a small Midwestern town in the United States, located in Roane County in the state of Indiana; like any other small town, nothing remarkable had happened there until now.

A convoy of black vans was speeding toward the town from the city.

"How long will they take?" Jonathan tried to wipe the dried blood from his face in vain as he left the school.

At this point he had contacted The Order so that, instead of the government, they would take charge of administering the place. The truth was he didn't trust Amanda—she gave him very bad vibes. And if she really was who he thought she was, he had to be very careful.

The way Jonathan had killed all the demons was so flawless that it left trauma in the dreams of many who had witnessed it.

"Who was that?" Dustin was trembling from everything he had seen; he couldn't believe a kid his age had taken out so many Demodogs.

Eleven remained silent; she was still thinking about Jonathan and the last words he had said to her.

"So, Eleven with her abilities opened that portal that connects the world of those monsters with ours?"

"Are you sure that's the most important thing to be thinking about right now? We need to hide—we have to leave." Mike didn't want to argue about it then.

But at that moment, without anyone noticing, a figure appeared beside them and asked, "Where are you planning to hide?"

"How can you move so fast?" Dustin recognized Jonathan as soon as he saw him.

Everyone fell silent; no one dared to move after remembering what Jonathan had done earlier.

"They seem like normal kids, so you can go now. No one will hurt you—stay out of trouble and you'll be fine." Jonathan walked to where Eleven stood, took her hand, and stepped away from the group.

"How can we trust you?" Dustin asked fearfully, though he tried to keep his composure.

Jonathan turned and spoke in a reassuring tone, projecting positive energy to calm the kids. "Because you were the ones who called me. I'm Jonathan Belmont."

Mike couldn't let his little girlfriend be taken, so even though his voice trembled he asked, "Where are you taking her?"

"Does that matter to you?"

"She's my friend, so it does."

Jonathan stopped, smiled slightly, and said, "It's not in your interest to get involved. Until recently she didn't exist to you, so it will be better for you and all your friends if she stays that way."

"That's a good idea." Lucas didn't want his friends mixed up in these things over a girl they barely knew.

"I agree." Dustin supported Lucas's idea for now—they couldn't stand up to someone like Jonathan, especially in a place like this.

Jonathan looked at Mike, who remained the only one silent, and after a moment asked again, "What's your decision?"

"Are you one of the good guys or the bad guys?"

"Although that doesn't really exist, I'm on God's side." Jonathan turned and began to walk slowly, then seeing a car he got in to drive instead of flying from place to place.

Dustin looked at Mike and asked, "What about Will?"

"He should already be in the hands of the police, don't worry."

Mike was upset, but not with his friends. He felt powerless, not knowing how to help his friend.

Lucas looked at Mike and said, "We'll think of something."

"If you want to see more of this world, join The Order."
