*~Lucien's POV~*
It was morning, and I stood up, with Gabrielle sleeping peacefully right next to me. Her gentle breathing sounded like music to my ears.
I got up and headed to the bathroom, taking my bath quietly, not wanting to disturb the sleeping beauty on the floor outside.
I still couldn't possibly fathom why she enjoyed sleeping on the floor so much. Was it that she couldn't sleep on the bed, or did she just prefer the floor? My back was aching at this point; the hard surface made my bones throb a little. I wondered if I'd even be able to move properly today.
But no—I needed every ounce of strength my body could offer right now, because we'd be heading to New Orleans soon, and I had no idea what awaited us there.
When I was ready, I picked up my sword and glanced at the mirror.
"Good morning, husband."
My body immediately stiffened as I turned to see Gabrielle sitting up on the bed, brushing her long blonde hair, her soft blue eyes staring at me.
