*~Gabrielle's POV~*
Lucien had just left, and for the first time in a long while, I suddenly felt inspired.
I placed the book gently on my bed, rubbing my fingers together as I stared at it.
"So, listen here, book," I said, narrowing my eyes like I was speaking to a stubborn child. "You're the only thing standing between me and being the invisible White Wolf everyone expects me to be. So, you will listen to me—and you will awaken. Do you understand?"
Silence.
"Good," I muttered anyway, as if the book had nodded.
I rubbed my fingers together and placed my palm over its surface. "Hoping," I whispered, closing my eyes as I tried to feel that same strange warmth that had once burned inside me.
When I opened my eyes..nothing. Still locked.
"Damn it," I hissed, groaning in frustration.
