*~Gabrielle's POV~*
I rushed down to the White House, hoping to find answers in the hands of my sisters. But as I arrived, the main doors were wide open—unlike before, when the White Guards would stop me at the entrance. Perhaps they were taking a break.
I stepped inside and went straight to my sisters' quarters. When I got there, the room was empty.
"Isabelle? Annabelle?" I called out, but there was no response.
I clutched the book tighter against my chest and began searching through every corner of the house.
"Annabelle? Isabelle?" I called again, louder this time.
"Alaric!" I shouted, my voice echoing through the halls. I remembered clearly telling Alaric to protect my sisters instead of me. Where were they?
Strangely, the entire place was deserted. No maids, no guards—none of the usual people who filled the White House.
My chest tightened. What happened here?
I dashed through the corridors, but there wasn't a single soul. Not even a trace of movement.
