Vance didn't say a word as he stepped out of the building.
The moment the glass doors slid shut behind him, the faint trace of amusement he'd worn in Damian's office vanished completely. His jaw tightened, his expression darkening as if a switch had been flipped. The morning air felt colder now against his skin as he walked.
His car was parked at the curb, the engine already running.
Sugar sat inside, one leg crossed over the other, her sunglasses pushed up into her hair. She straightened the moment she saw him approach, her sharp eyes scanning his face before he even opened the door.
"Well?" she asked as soon as he got in. "How did it go?"
Vance slammed the door shut and leaned back against the seat, dragging a hand down his face. "Damian doesn't know anything," he said finally. "Not yet, he would have tried to test me if he did, he just seem annoyed to see me...."
Sugar's shoulders relaxed slightly. "That's good."
