Raya held Adrian's gaze for a long moment before looking away again. Her fingers unconsciously played with the edge of the hospital blanket, twisting the soft fabric between them as if it could ground her.
"I've been rehearsing what to say ever since I woke up," she admitted quietly. "But now that you're here… I don't know where to start."
Adrian didn't interrupt. He watched her, his dark eyes focused entirely on her face. He listened, really listened, his body still and attentively in the chair beside her bed.
Raya took another shaky breath, gathering her courage. "So… let me start with the most important thing."
She slowly lifted her bandaged wrist. "I'm sorry."
Adrian's eyes immediately fell on the white bandage. His jaw clenched visibly, a muscle ticking under the tension.
Raya noticed it and continued, her voice trembling. "I'm sorry for this… for making you go through something so horrible. That wasn't what I wanted."
