The Most Strongest Transcendent Ever

Chapter 9: The Shadow Attack

Midorino fell asleep, a serene expression settling on her face as the gentle rhythm of her breathing filled the quiet room. With careful consideration, I decided it was time to take her home, ensuring she would be safe and sound. As I opened the door to her house, I stepped inside, the familiar scents and sights washing over me, providing a comforting backdrop to the task at hand. I walked softly, cradling her in my arms, feeling the warmth radiate from her slumbering form. I made my way to her bedroom, taking extra precautions not to make any noise that might disturb her peaceful rest. Once we reached her bed, I gently laid her down on the soft sheets, tucking her in with a tender touch.

As I turned around from her bedside, I sensed something was amiss. A shiver ran down my spine, and I froze momentarily, a question lingering in the air: "Who's there?" Out of the darkness, a shadowy figure began to materialize, its form shifting in and out of focus, giving it an eerie quality. "So you can see us, huh? That makes you a threat," it said with a sinister grin etched across its face. Before I could fully process what was happening, the figure lunged at me, its cold hand gripping my throat with an iron-like vise. With a swift motion, it hurled me through the house as if I were nothing more than a rag doll, my body crashing violently against the walls.

Midorino, blissfully unaware of the chaos that ensued, shifted in her sleep, her brow furrowing slightly as she instinctively sought comfort. Meanwhile, I struggled to regain my footing, my determination ignited. "I'm not done yet!" I shouted defiantly, leaping to my feet with the adrenaline coursing through my veins. I charged at the figure, full of relentless resolve. To my astonishment, the shadowy figure executed an impossible leap, sailing effortlessly through the gaping hole it had created in the wall and landing nimbly just out of reach.

Fueled by determination, I pursued him, adrenaline propelling me forward. "Where do you think you're going?" I yelled, my voice echoing with urgency. The figure laughed, its tone mocking as it leapt from rooftop to rooftop with an agility that was both mesmerizing and infuriating. "Gotcha!" it taunted as I pursued, but my focus remained sharp. Suddenly, the world erupted in a chaotic explosion, a blinding flash followed by the shattering of everything around me. I collapsed to the ground, bloodied and battered, the impact knocking the breath from my lungs. "Well played…" I managed to murmur, realizing the gravity of the situation.

The malevolent figure approached once more, its grin widening as it prepared to finish me off. "I hope you're ready to die now," it sneered, charging at me with a malicious intent that sent chills down my spine. My heart raced, and as my eyes began to close, everything faded to black. In that darkness, bizarre and fragmented memories flickered through my mind, images that felt both familiar and alien at the same time. A voice, strange yet oddly familiar, echoed in my thoughts, urging me insistently: "Get up."

As consciousness began to seep back into my awareness, I opened my eyes just in time to see the shadowy figure's hand poised to deliver the final blow, inches away from my chest. In a flash of instinctive power, I halted him mid-strike, an invisible force pushing against his hand. A radiant, yellow aura enveloped me, cascading like liquid light, my eyes igniting in a fierce yellow glow, my hair transforming to a brilliant white, radiating energy and strength.

The figure's expression shifted from arrogance to shock, its eyes widening in disbelief. "What is this!?" it gasped, taken aback by my sudden transformation. Summoning every ounce of power within me, I raised my hand skyward. To my astonishment, it obeyed, launching the shadowy figure high into the air as if caught in a tempest of energy. With a decisive motion, I brought my hand down, summoning a colossal hammer of light that crashed upon him with an earth-shattering force.

The shadowy figure succumbed to the overwhelming impact, losing consciousness as the brilliance of my aura faded and dimmed. As the light receded, I felt a deep exhaustion wash over me, my body weakening as my hair and eyes returned to their normal state. I, too, succumbed to the immense mental toll immense power demanded, collapsing to the ground, unconscious and vulnerable, every ounce of strength expended in the battle against the darkness.
